to intrude upon our Hall of Souls? Courting death!"

In response to the chaos, five Hall of Souls Elders in the sky immediately issued cold warnings. One of them unleashed a torrent of thick black mist, resembling a serpentine shadow, which roared through the sky, striking violently toward Mo Yu and his companions.

"Manor Lord, allow me!"

As the venomous black mist serpent approached, the warrior known as Kuang Dao stepped forward from behind Mo Yu. His massive decapitation blade moved like a storm, sweeping through the air. A flash of blade light, as brilliant as the scorching sun, severed the black mist entirely.

"This technique... Could it be the Kuang Dao Zun Zhe from the Western Region?" one Hall of Souls Elder on the far left muttered solemnly.

"Oh? I didn’t expect even the Hall of Souls to recognize my reputation," Kuang Dao remarked with surprise.

"Just some passing knowledge. But since you’re aware of our Hall of Souls’s might, why do you follow these rebels to provoke us?" the elder retorted coldly.

"I now serve as a subordinate to Manor Lord Mo of the Yuan Manor. As for why we attack the Hall of Souls—I’m merely following orders," Kuang Dao replied, his expression unchanging.

"Humph! A mere one-star Dou Zun dares trespass and slaughter in our Hall of Souls. From today, the title of Kuang Dao Zun Zhe will be erased from the Western Region, and your Yuan Manor shall face total annihilation!" another Hall of Souls elder declared furiously.

"What arrogance. The Hall of Souls? Let’s see if you can destroy my Yuan Manor, or if my Yuan Manor will raze this branch hall instead!" Mo Yu sneered.

"Young and reckless! Today, we’ll see if your so-called Yuan Manor is worthy of such bravado!"

The Hall of Souls elders erupted in laughter and descended rapidly. One of them engaged Kuang Dao directly, unleashing an explosive clash of powers.

Seeing this, Mo Yu gestured, and Feng Zun Zhe and others behind him swiftly charged forward, intercepting the five elders.

"Xiao Yan, leave this to Feng Zun Zhe and the others. Let’s find Yao Lao," Mo Yu said to Xiao Yan.

"Understood," Xiao Yan nodded.

The two then turned into black streaks, darting toward the great hall ahead.

Just as they were about to step inside, the space in front of them rippled. An elderly man in a pale purple robe materialized, his expression cold and emotionless.

Mo Yu’s eyes narrowed slightly at the sight. Without hesitation, he surrounded his fist with five-colored lightning and punched forward, shattering the void and aiming directly at the elder’s chest.

The elder was momentarily stunned by Mo Yu’s abrupt and forceful strike, his expression darkening as a sense of danger washed over him. Quickly retreating two steps, he conjured a sinister black mist in his palm, releasing his Dou Qi in full force.

Boom!

The clash between Mo Yu’s thunderous punch and the elder’s dark mist palm created a terrifying shockwave. Nearby Hall of Souls guards disintegrated into nothingness, and massive stone pillars cracked under the pressure.

When the dust settled, Mo Yu stood unmoved, while the purple-robed elder stumbled back ten steps before stabilizing.

The elder’s face turned grim, his eyes filled with shock. This young man, appearing around Xiao Yan’s age, was not only a Dou Zun but also one whose strength far surpassed his own.

"Curse you, brat! Even as a Dou Zun, the Hall of Souls is not a place you can trample upon!"

With a furious roar, the elder lunged at Mo Yu once more, his figure like lightning.

Before he could strike, a white silhouette descended like an iceberg, intercepting his attack.

"Though I’d love to finish you off myself, I’ll let Qing Zhi handle you for now," Mo Yu said with a faint smile, motioning to Xiao Yan. The two then seized the opportunity to dash into the hall.

The purple-robed elder wanted to pursue them but dared not take his eyes off Qing Zhi. Enraged, he shouted, "Hall of Souls guards, stop those two at all costs!"

While battles raged outside the Hall of Souls, Mo Yu and Xiao Yan moved like a whirlwind, carving a path through the interior.

The oppressive aura of Mo Yu’s Dou Zun cultivation made resistance futile. Hall of Souls protectors who tried to intercept were swiftly struck down, leaving the duo unimpeded.

"Damn it! You’ll only pass through us over our dead bodies!"

Four figures emerged from the shadows, their black mist radiating power. Each was a six-star or seven-star Dou Zong, their strength evident.

"Out of my way!"

Without breaking stride, Mo Yu flicked his fingers, unleashing a colossal five-colored thunder dragon. With a single sweep of its tail, the four Dou Zong protectors were sent flying, their bodies crushed against the walls in an explosion of blood and bone.

Xiao Yan gasped at the sheer dominance of his elder cousin. "Cousin Mo Yu is as overbearing as ever..."

Suppressing his astonishment, Xiao Yan captured a fleeing Hall of Souls protector’s spirit with a wave of his hand. "Speak! Where is Yao Lao being held?"

"In the Soul Locking Hall," the protector stammered, terror-stricken.

"Lead the way, or die!"

"Turn left ahead..."

Exchanging glances, Mo Yu and Xiao Yan continued their charge. Thanks to the guidance, their progress quickened.

Even with numerous enemies, none could withstand Mo Yu’s overwhelming strength. Xiao Yan could only marvel at the devastation left in their wake.

Finally, they arrived at a massive black iron door radiating a sinister aura.

"This should be the place," Mo Yu said cautiously. "Something feels off—stay alert."

Xiao Yan nodded, suppressing his excitement. The two readied themselves as they approached the ominous door.

Xiao Yan’s eyes glimmered with icy determination as he waved his sleeve, unleashing a surge of purple-brown flames. The flames shot forth, crashing heavily against the iron gate.

"Bang!"

Under such a ferocious assault, even the sturdy iron gate shattered immediately, revealing the scene beyond to Mo Yu and Xiao Yan.

It was an expansive plaza, vast and desolate. Towering stone pillars pierced the sky, and black chains stretched like a spider’s web across the area.

At the ends of these chains floated numerous clusters of light, each containing the faint silhouettes of spirit bodies.

Seeing such a sight, despite already knowing of the Hall of Souls’s sinister dealings, Mo Yu couldn’t help but feel a tinge of shock at the magnitude of the Soul Clan’s operations.

As they stepped onto this eerie, death-filled plaza, Xiao Yan’s gaze swept briefly before locking onto a towering stone platform deep within the square.

There, a particularly radiant cluster of light exuded a faint but powerful aura that made Xiao Yan tremble uncontrollably.

Mo Yu followed Xiao Yan’s line of sight, only to see him shooting forward like an arrow, racing across the plaza with lightning speed.

Without hesitation, Mo Yu followed, arriving atop the platform a few breaths later.

Before them, within the radiant cluster of light, sat an emaciated elder bound by four massive chains that coiled around his limbs.

Recognizing the figure instantly, Mo Yu realized it was none other than the rescue target—Yao Chen, known as Yao Lao.

At this moment, Xiao Yan’s eyes turned bloodshot, and his knees buckled as he knelt heavily on the stone platform, his voice hoarse with emotion.

"Master, your disciple has come."

As Xiao Yan knelt, Yao Lao’s eyes fluttered slightly before slowly opening. His cloudy gaze fell upon Xiao Yan and the silver-eyed youth behind him.

For a moment, Yao Lao stared blankly, before a weak but gratified smile surfaced on his gaunt face. In a raspy voice, he said, "The little one has finally grown up."

"And Mo Yu, my friend... I didn’t expect you to come too..."

Back when they last parted, both Mo Yu and Xiao Yan had been brash and youthful, full of untamed energy. Yet in just a few short years, those once impetuous boys had matured into remarkable individuals.

"Senior Yao has shown me great kindness. When Xiao Yan’s cousin asked for help, I agreed without hesitation," Mo Yu said, cupping his fists in respect before helping Xiao Yan to his feet.

"Reuniting master and disciple is indeed a joyous occasion, but given the dire situation, we should rescue Senior Yao first and talk later."

"Of course," Xiao Yan replied, wiping his tears and quickly regaining his composure. Now was not the time for reminiscing.

Xiao Yan stood aside as Mo Yu stepped forward, gripping one of the chains binding Yao Lao. Five-colored lightning surged from his palm, striking the black chain repeatedly.

"Crack!"

Under the relentless strikes of the lightning, the runes on the chain gradually dissipated.

As the runes vanished, Mo Yu clenched his hand tightly, shattering the chain with a crisp sound. He swiftly repeated the process, breaking the remaining three massive chains in quick succession.

Once freed from the bindings, Yao Lao’s weakened aura slightly improved, and the pallor on his face lessened somewhat, though his form remained ethereal.

Yao Lao flexed his wrists gently, gazing at the severed chains that had bound him for so long. Turning to Mo Yu, his eyes revealed a mixture of gratitude and admiration.

"Mo Yu, my young friend, not only are your skills remarkable, but you’ve also advanced to the Dou Zun level at such a young age. My earlier impression of your extraordinary potential was not misplaced," Yao Lao said with a raspy chuckle.

"Senior Yao flatters me. Xiao Yan, your disciple, is just as impressive," Mo Yu replied with a soft smile.

Hearing this, a faint smile touched Yao Lao’s lips as he glanced at Xiao Yan.

"Let’s go. The Hall of Souls is full of dangers. It’s best we leave quickly," Yao Lao said, his gaze sweeping over the grim and deathly atmosphere of the Soul Capturing Hall.

"Indeed. But since we’re here, we might as well destroy this place. Letting the souls here escape would cause chaos for the Hall of Souls," Xiao Yan declared resolutely.

As he spoke, Xiao Yan clenched his fist, and the purple-brown flames extended, forming a whip of fire. With a flick of his wrist, the fire whip lashed out toward the black chains in the air.

However, just as the fire whip was about to strike the chains, the space around it abruptly solidified. The whip seemed to hit an invisible wall, producing a crisp sound before rebounding.

"Oh? So the Hall of Souls has another strong fighter stationed here," Mo Yu remarked, his tone turning serious.

"Haha, Yao Chen, you’ve found quite the apprentice. To think he’d dare storm my Hall of Souls to rescue you. Such audacity! Even I have to admire it.

"And you, boy from the Lei Clan. Though you may have your clan’s protection, trespassing into my Hall of Souls of your own volition is an act of recklessness. If you perish here, even those behind you won’t have much to say.

"Are you truly brave, or merely courting death?"

A mocking laugh echoed throughout the hall. Then, the space in front of Mo Yu and Xiao Yan twisted and formed an invisible barrier.

"Shhh!"

Beyond the barrier, in the midst of the black chains, stood an elder clad in gray robes. He stood on one of the chains, looking down at them with a mocking smile.

"This man... he’s a Dou Zun as well?" Xiao Yan murmured, his expression darkening. He hadn’t expected a hidden expert guarding this place in addition to the five known Hall of Souls Elders.

"Old Ghost Zhai Xing? You’re here as well?" Yao Lao’s expression shifted as he recognized the elder, his voice carrying a hint of dread.
