Chapter 326: ’Evil’ Presence

Chapter 326: ’Evil’ Presence

Killian had already sensed that there was something wrong with this territory. He leaned down with his hands inside his pockets. "You mean to say there are traces of magic here, but you cannot trace it."

Third Eye nodded.

"There is something abnormal about the magic traces there. I can sense it’s dangerous, but I cannot trace the danger." Something exploded behind him, and Third Eye cursed before looking over his shoulders and shouting at whoever it was. The explosions died down. He turned around and continued, "You two should be really careful; I have a feeling that there is something older... ancient trapped there."

"You mean that this is a trap?"

"Like I said, nothing can be traced down at the moment," Third Eye responded. His voice was firm and carried a hint of conviction. "It’s not a spell. There is nothing like that, but there is a hint of something. Like that thing, whatever it is... has walked on the lands of that pack. It has left its lingering magic behind. That presence is something that you need to avoid."

Killian flared his nostrils, trying to sniff this presence out, but all he smelled was the scent of home cleaner and flowers.

"And you think that it can hurt us?"

"I don’t know..." said the man with a frown on his face. "I tried to reach the two of you on your phone, but I couldn’t. It’s like someone is blocking my calls on purpose, and when I tried to text you, the same thing happened."

"But Selene messaged me," stated Killian with a frown on his face.

"That’s because she is not a witch hunter. I told you that magic is alive in itself. Everything related to magic will carry traces. I am a witch hunter, and everything related to me carries traces of it. I believe that whatever this thing is — it’s pushing me back from reaching out to you. I was only able to call you two after I asked one of the halflings to do magic on the mana nucleus." The wizard he spoke of shivered behind him. He looked at Killian as if he were hoping for him to come and rescue him.

Like he could ever do that.

He frowned and immediately tapped on the screen of his phone. Only to receive the same message that Third Eye told him. The messages or calls couldn’t be made whenever he tried to call Third Eye. It was as if there was an inherent blockage

"I am arriving at the territory tonight." Third Eye rose to his feet and slowly spoke in a tone too low for only the two of them to hear. "Keep yourself alive till then. If you are lucky enough to avoid that presence till I arrive, then thank the gods for that."

The connection was cut short there, and Killian stood up straight. "Well, that was quite a jolly message."

He glanced at Finn, who shared a look with him. "Now what?"

"Call Laxus."

**

The car rumbled beneath us, carrying the rather upset and grumbling party of lycans. Laxus, for one, was not happy about being separated from Selene. But the situation called for it, and even if he wanted to refuse, the man couldn’t just refuse the command of his alpha.

Killian stared at the lane in front of him, with his fingers drumming against his knees. His mind, however, was lost elsewhere.

You could have simply dealt with this matter on your own. Selene –

Will be fine. She is not a young girl who cannot stay without you just for a night, snapped Killian.

Do you need to feed her a glass of milk? Tittered Ajax.

Laxus turned and looked at the man beside him before raising his hand and smacking him on the back of the head. Drakon, who was driving the car, jumped upon hearing the smack and turned to look behind him. He stared at the two men before turning to look at Killian. "We ... we are about to arrive at the location. I am sorry for the delay." Please don’t hurt me.

Even though the man didn’t say those words, Killian heard them loud and clear.

Lisa turned to look at Finn with a soft, simpering smile on her lips. "Alpha Dawson wanted to make sure that the banquet would be on par with your presence, Alpha Sokolov. We have moved the venue to the only seven-star hotel in our territory. We host all the major ceremonies there – first birthdays, celebrations, mating ceremonies..." Killian noticed how the woman batted her eyelashes while looking at his beta, who shifted uncomfortably in his chair.

What’s this? Are you cheating on me, Finn? Ajax questioned in the pack link with a hint of mock rage.

Shut up!

Ignoring the teasing and screaming of his beta and the head enforcer, Killian turned to look at the surrounding buildings. Just like the rest of the city, he saw not a single presence within them. If anything, he would see the sights in front of him fluctuate and turn into something old and dilapidated, as if the buildings in front of him were not newly built but had been standing there for ages.

How long are they going to fight? His beast grumbled in his head. I am about to get a headache.

Killian didn’t even bother to stop the two men from quarrelling because he knew that there was no point in doing so. I am just teaching him how to let loose. This was what Ajax would tell him if he tried to stop the two. Since that was the case, he might as well not bother.

Behind him, Laxus was now sitting silently. He was staring outside the window with a frown between his brows.

He is sensing something, his beast mused while looking at the scenery in front of him.

Of course, he could. Laxus was not an idiot. He must have sensed something amiss within the pack, but what?

Guess we have to find it on our own.
