Chapter 655 The Death of Xila

The team leader's face turned grim as he witnessed the scene. After a few polite words, he hurriedly led his team towards the other end of the village.

After running for a good while, until the supreme being's house was completely out of sight, the team leader spoke to one of his members:

"You immediately leave the team and inform the main force. Tell them to come at full speed for reinforcement!"

The team member looked bewildered and asked, "Team leader, wasn't it said that it was just a big spider? We can handle it, no need to call the whole main force!"

The team leader glared at him fiercely and lowered his voice, "Stop talking nonsense, you know nothing. Hurry and call for reinforcements, go! If you're late, something big will happen!"

The team member didn't understand why the team leader was so nervous. Normally, dealing with monsters and beasts that broke in could be handled by one or two guards.

This time, they brought an entire team, and it wasn't enough, they even needed to call for reinforcements?!

Despite his doubts, orders had to be obeyed. He turned and ran towards the village exit from another direction.

After finishing his breakfast, the supreme being stored the remaining food in his ring.

Although most of the ring's functions, including communication and energy collection, had failed the moment the apocalypse ended, the spatial storage function remained.

When Xila returned from outside, she could still eat hot meals.

This was the ring's biggest use for now.

The supreme being wandered in the courtyard for a while and suddenly felt something was amiss.

Xila went to the flower sea outside the village every morning to pick flowers and find rare species.

However, even at the latest, she should have been home by now. What happened today? The supreme being couldn't help but worry.

"The monster has been eliminated by the guards, the danger is cleared, the monster has been eliminated by the guards, the danger is cleared!"

A villager shouted as he ran.

The supreme being walked far out and saw the guards in the distance carrying the corpse of a huge monster, covered with a large black cloth.

"Hey, what is that thing?"

The supreme being shouted to the guard team leader.

Although the distance was far, the supreme being's voice, infused with energy, clearly reached the team leader's ears.

Even though the other party could hear him, he seemed to pretend not to, moving faster with the monster, his face etched with anxiety.

What made the supreme being most puzzled was that the shortcut out of the village was right by his doorstep.

Yet, this group of people deliberately avoided it, choosing to take a detour to leave the village.

"What are these guys up to? So secretive!"

The supreme being quickened his pace and soon caught up with the moving team.

"Hey, didn't you hear me when I spoke to you just now?"

The supreme being was a little angry.

After all, he was the one who ended the apocalypse, once revered as the savior, a great hero.

And now he was being treated with such indifference?

Even if a villager greeted him, the team leader should have responded a few words!

"Don't move! Don't come any closer, if you come closer, I... I... will deal with you according to the order violation regulations!"

The team leader shouted unnaturally, as if electrocuted.

From his eyes, the supreme being saw not anger towards a violator, but a deep sense of fear.

What was he afraid of?

An ominous premonition suddenly surged within the supreme being!

"Pull off the black cloth and let me see!"

The supreme being commanded coldly.

"This... this is... according to regulations, we cannot remove the black cloth, it will frighten the surrounding people!"

The team leader stammered his explanation.

"Who here hasn't experienced the apocalypse? What terrible monsters haven't they seen? Would they still be frightened?"

The more the team leader tried to conceal it, the stronger the supreme being's unease grew.

He directly pushed aside two guards and reached the monster's corpse first, forcefully pulling off the black cloth.

Whoosh!

The black cloth fluttered in the air for a moment before slowly falling to the ground.

Lying on the wooden frame was a giant spider, its upper body still in human form.

It was Xila!

Xila was now on the verge of death, lying on the wooden frame with her head tilted, her gaze unfocused.

Her lower body had been blown to pieces by energy beams, scorched black.

All eight legs were broken, not broken in combat, but after defeating her, the guards exposed the spider legs, and then they were all cleanly severed with alloy combat knives.

The severed spider legs were placed on the wooden frame, next to the great spider.

These people had chopped off her spider legs one by one while Xila was still alive!

Buzz!

Seeing this, the supreme being's mind went blank. He couldn't believe it was real.

His beloved Xila was lying before him like this, her life force rapidly draining away.

"Xila..."

The supreme being knelt beside the frame, reaching out to gently caress Xila's cold face.

The latter struggled to open her eyes.

She didn't want the supreme being to see her in such a disheveled state, it was too unsightly.

She wanted to leave the most beautiful impression of herself in the supreme being's memory.

But now, she couldn't even transform, let alone speak with difficulty.

She opened her mouth, wanting to comfort the supreme being a few words.

"Pfft... pfft..."

However, what came out of her mouth was mouthfuls of blood.

Suddenly, with strength she didn't know she possessed, Xila grabbed the supreme being and struggled to sit up.

Bang!

An energy beam pierced through her chest.

Thus, Xila, with her broken body, fell onto the wooden frame and breathed her last.

The corners of her mouth turned up slightly, as if she was happy to have blocked an attack for the supreme being before she died.

"Ahhhh!"

A ball of rage exploded from the supreme being's chest!

His world began to collapse at that moment, all his beliefs, all his hopes for a beautiful future vanished into thin air.

All that enveloped the supreme being's heart at this moment was hatred!

Endless hatred!

She hadn't died when the natives plotted to harm her; she hadn't died when surrounded by tens of thousands of monsters; she hadn't died when pursued by ultimate beings.

Yet, she died five years after the apocalypse ended.

She died by the hands of the very people she had risked her life to protect and save.

A group of ungrateful wretches!

They were worse than the monsters in the apocalypse, they didn't deserve to live!

"Open fire, fire quickly, don't let him get up!"

The team leader shouted in terror.

Simultaneously, over a dozen energy beams fiercely struck towards the supreme being.

"You will all die!"

The supreme being roared, and an energy barrier instantly enveloped him from all sides.

The energy beams struck it, only causing slight ripples.

"Die!"

The supreme being flashed, and immediately, the neck of a guard was twisted.

Crack! Snap!

Two more sounds echoed.

A guard's body was pierced through by the supreme being's fist, while another guard's head was smashed into his chest cavity.

The supreme being's eyes were bloodshot, like a demon returned from hell, radiating an aura of death.
