Chapter 196 Riddled with Suspicion

"Professor Zhou, is this the master you mentioned whose skill far surpasses yours?"

Mr. Wan, dressed in a suit, spoke with evident skepticism, convinced that Professor Zhou had become senile.

"Mr. Wan, I understand you all believe Master Ye is too young and doesn't fit your image of a TCM master. However, I must tell you that Master Ye is the most formidable master I have ever encountered!"

"As the saying goes, appearances can be deceiving, and one cannot judge the sea by the bucket. Mr. Wan, please refrain from judging a book by its cover!"

Professor Zhou advised.

"Uncle, may I see the patient now?"

Ye Fei paid no mind to the scrutinizing glances cast his way.

He was aware of his youth and that many would doubt his abilities because of it.

However, Ye Fei had always believed in proving himself through actions, not engaging in lengthy verbal disputes.

Perhaps it was Ye Fei's calm demeanor and confident gaze that caused Mr. Wan to subconsciously nod.

"Master Ye, this way please!"

Professor Zhou, who had been closely observing Ye Fei, immediately led him to the patient's bedside upon seeing him nod.

The elderly man lying on the bed was hooked up to numerous tubes, appearing frail and on the verge of death.

Ye Fei gently placed his right hand on one of the elder's wrists.

Then, employing the unique diagnostic methods of his sect, he began his examination.

Time ticked by, and everyone held their breath in anticipation.

Professor Zhou, in particular, was extremely anxious.

After ten minutes, Ye Fei slowly released the elder's right hand and stepped back.

"Master Ye, how is it?"

"What are the results?"

Professor Zhou asked urgently.

Ye Fei pondered for a moment and then replied,

"It is indeed difficult. I have practiced medicine with my master for over a decade, and this is the greatest challenge I have faced."

Ye Fei's words delivered another blow to Professor Zhou and the others, including Mr. Wan.

Mr. Wan, who already doubted Ye Fei, felt his suspicions were confirmed.

Everyone's spirits sank.

The atmosphere in the ward plummeted to an icy silence.

Ye Fei was dumbfounded; he hadn't finished speaking!

"Brother, I've brought Elder Jin here!"

Suddenly, a slightly breathless female voice echoed from the doorway of the ward.

"Little sister, you're finally here, excellent!"

Mr. Wan exclaimed, his face lighting up with renewed hope as he rushed to meet her.

"Elder Jin, thank you for agreeing to come out of seclusion. I'm much obliged!"

Mr. Wan, impeccably dressed in a suit, greeted the elder with white hair but a spirited demeanor with great respect, leading him to the patient's bedside.

Ye Fei had already stepped aside.

A gust of fragrant breeze swept past.

It was Mr. Wan's younger sister, who had stopped beside him.

At a glance, the woman appeared to be in her late twenties. Her beautiful curly hair, striking features, and a mature yet charming aura caught Ye Fei's eye.

Elder Jin and his student had already arrived at the patient's bedside and commenced their examination.

This time, Elder Jin spent nearly forty minutes before, with a furrowed brow, releasing the patient's right hand.

He then sighed and said,

"I have examined your father. He is now in a critical condition and is merely being kept alive by machines."

"Although I consider myself highly skilled, I am powerless in this situation."

"All I can do is prolong his life for a little longer."

"It is too late; even the gods cannot save him!"

Elder Jin frowned and shook his head repeatedly.

"Even you, Elder Jin, cannot help?"

"Elder Jin, please save my father!"

"Don't worry, no matter how expensive the medicinal herbs, we will find them. Please, find a way to save my father!"

Upon hearing Elder Jin's response, the woman beside Ye Fei burst into tears.

"Miss Wan, I will certainly do my utmost. Please rest assured of that."

"However, I hope you will prepare yourselves psychologically and consider the worst-case scenario."

Elder Jin added.

At this moment, Ye Fei let out a cold snort and declared,

"I wasn't finished speaking. I can tell you very clearly that I can cure this elder!"

Ye Fei's statement was like a bombshell, immediately drawing everyone's attention in the ward to him.

"Who are you?"

"How can you, a mere youngster, possess the confidence to achieve what even my master cannot?"

The speaker was Elder Jin's most promising disciple. His eyes blazed with indignation as he looked down at Ye Fei with disdain.

"Hmph, I, Ye Fei, always speak the truth. While this elder is indeed critically ill, he is not beyond hope!"

Ye Fei stated calmly.

"Master Ye, I believe you!"

Professor Zhou, having witnessed Ye Fei's astonishing acupuncture skills and the pill he had previously dispensed, had no doubt about Ye Fei's words.

"Professor Zhou, how could you be so foolish!"

"How can this young lad possibly cure the elder!"

Elder Jin's disciple retorted again.

Miss Wan, standing beside Ye Fei, also looked incredulous.

However, she did not immediately voice her objection.

This was primarily due to her trust in Professor Zhou.

"I will give you only one chance. If you miss this opportunity today, even if you beg me in the future, I will not step into this ward again!"

Ye Fei ignored Elder Jin's disciple and addressed Mr. Wan and Miss Wan directly.

Miss Wan, observing Ye Fei's profound confidence and lack of any sign of unease, asked,

"Sir, may I inquire about your teacher?"

Ye Fei raised an eyebrow and replied,

"That's a good question. I am a disciple of Qingyi Daoist. Qingyi Daoist is my master!"

A collective gasp.

Upon hearing this, everyone's eyes widened. The intense gazes made Ye Fei feel somewhat uncomfortable.

"Master Ye, no wonder you are so formidable!"

"So your master is Qingyi Daoist!"

Professor Zhou had certainly heard of Qingyi Daoist but had never had the opportunity to meet him.

This had always been a regret of his.

Now, being able to know his disciple felt like the fulfillment of a lifelong wish.

"Impossible, talk is cheap!"

"Can you provide any proof?"

Elder Jin's disciple countered, his face darkening.

"Believe it or not, why should I prove anything to you?"

Ye Fei retorted.
