As the stone gate opened, Lin Feng and the other two began to enter.
A dark, winding, and somewhat eerie path lay before them. The three walked in single file, the only sounds in the long corridor being their footsteps. Liu Yujiao practically clung to Liu Zhengqing's embrace.
"How much further? This path is giving me the creeps!"
Liu Yujiao's voice trembled. She would have preferred a fight over walking this path.
"Clang!"
Lin Feng, who had been leading the way, was suddenly struck by an arrow that activated the Vajra Talisman on his body.
Lin Feng's heart leaped in surprise. He quickly threw Vajra Talismans onto the other two Liu family members.
As if a switch had been flipped, countless arrows shot out from all directions, the clanging sounds incessant.
These weren't just arrows, but rather military crossbow bolts with powerful impact. For a moment, Lin Feng and the other two were in utter disarray.
However, as cultivators, their physical strength was quite high. Enduring the arrows, the trio pushed through the arrow array.
Before they could even catch their breath, fiery tongues of flame appeared before them. It was unclear how they were controlled, but these flames moved with surprising agility.
With the Vajra Talismans, there was no fear of being breached, but the talismans couldn't defend against smoke! Choked by smoke and fire, the three were in a truly miserable state.
There was no time to rest; the traps within this inheritance ground had been fully activated.
Water dragons, lightning arrays, hurricanes, illusion arrays, hammer arrays, spear arrays… it was a relentless onslaught of wind, rain, thunder, lightning, and every imaginable weapon.
"Finally, we're here!"
Having endured all the arrays, the three were utterly exhausted. They couldn't understand why this cultivator was so monstrously cruel; what kind of inheritance ground was so perilous?
At the end of the passage was a stone platform, upon which sat a dark, unremarkable box.
Upon opening it, they found a letter:
Inheritor, by the time you reach this place and open this letter, it means you have passed through numerous trials.
However, the true inheritance is not here. In the center of the secret realm, there is a tree. That is the entrance to the inheritance ground, and a Sharp-Horned Fowl guards it.
Remember, do not enter the passage directly. There are two passages there. One leads to the evil cultivators I have imprisoned, and the other is the true inheritance. The true passage requires this box from the table.
This box is the key. Only by holding the key can the great door of inheritance be truly opened.
After reading the letter and looking at the box, the minds of Lin Feng and the other two collapsed.
"Is that Sharp-Horned Fowl the same one from before?"
Liu Yujiao's voice held a hint of delirium.
"It should be. We've been walking in the same direction these past few days. Is this the center? It makes sense."
Liu Zhengqing believed the letter to be truthful.
"But the Sharp-Horned Fowl is already dead!"
Liu Yujiao's mind shattered. They had never imagined that their first encounter wouldn't be with the inheritance itself, but with the final destination.
"Let's go! We need to go back and see!"
Lin Feng's mind was even more broken. Evil cultivators?
It was truly fortunate that he had trump cards!
Otherwise, he would have been done for!
Thinking about how he had searched tirelessly and found nothing, Lin Feng could barely maintain his composed expression.
"Turn back!"
With Liu Zhengqing's command, Lin Feng and the other followed behind him.
"Careful!"
Lin Feng grabbed Liu Zhengqing, covering his face in exasperation.
"The arrays are active again! We have to go through it all over again."
"Is he crazy? Is the person who set up this inheritance mentally deranged? Who does things like this?"
Liu Yujiao could no longer control her temper. She inwardly vowed that if the true inheritance yielded nothing of value, she would find his remaining remains and scatter his ashes.
Wind, rain, thunder, lightning, swords, spears, clubs, and staves…
After another wave of life-or-death trials, the three returned to their starting point.
It was the same square space. As soon as they steadied themselves, it began to move.
Like an elevator, it carried the three upwards.
"Phew! We finally made it out alive."
Lin Feng wiped away sweat that wasn't there. If he still had his cultivation like before, he wouldn't have been so disheveled.
"Ah! Pervert!"
Liu Yujiao immediately covered her face and shrieked.
Lin Feng followed the sound of her voice. Even with her face covered, he could see her blushing, alluring face through her fingers.
"What are you looking at?"
Liu Yujiao felt she was about to die of shame. She could feel the heat rising on her face.
Lin Feng lowered his head, and with a flush, his face turned completely red. After going through the arrays, his clothes were torn, even revealing parts that shouldn't be shown.
Liu Zhengqing's expression was also not good; he felt equally awkward.
"I have a change of clothes here. If you don't mind, you can wear it."
"I don't mind!"
Lin Feng answered resolutely. He had weathered storms and navigated dangers for years, accomplished feats of turning the world upside down with a flip of his hand, but this was the first time he had experienced such utter mortification.
After changing in private, Lin Feng's embarrassment slowly subsided.
"Let's go now,"
Liu Zhengqing said. Lin Feng and Liu Yujiao both nodded, neither wanting to speak more. An inexplicable atmosphere, certainly not one of goodwill, permeated the space between them.
"We've arrived."
It was simply a matter of walking back to find the destination, especially with such a large burial pit.
"The Sharp-Horned Fowl is already dead, can we still open this passage?"
Liu Yujiao was full of curiosity. She had many questions about events she had never encountered before.
"Yes."
Lin Feng nodded seriously.
"The Sharp-Horned Fowl was merely the guardian beast of the entrance. This entrance was not created for the Sharp-Horned Fowl; the beast was utilized after the entrance was already there."
"Even so, how do we find it?"
Liu Zhengqing felt a headache coming on. For years, he had only cultivated and had not delved into other interesting anecdotes or various cultivation arts.
"We just need to burn this tree."
Lin Feng knew the passage was hidden within the tree. Without the tree, it would be revealed.
"Flame Talisman."
A single talisman possessed immense power. The entire tree burst into flames with a roar.
Crackling and popping, like firecrackers, in a short while, the entire tree was reduced to ashes.
"The entrance has appeared!"
Liu Yujiao jumped up excitedly. After passing through so many obstacles, even a glimmer of hope could send adrenaline surging.
After a pause,
The passage fully formed. The three clasped hands and entered the passage.
To be honest, there was a difference between having the key and not having it. If the island they saw last time had a touch of celestial charm, what they saw this time was a bare stone chamber, consistent with the layout of where the key was found.
Simple, brutal, and direct.
A stone platform, three jade slips.
Lin Feng picked up the letter from the desk and glanced at it, then smiled.
