Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Math Olympiad Spot, Rae Zander’s Sarcasm
Just as the girl finished speaking, Grace couldn’t wait to write down her name on the registration form, her eyes revealing a crafty smile.
Although as a teacher, using Olivia Song’s contradictions with her to spur her on wasn’t right, doing it occasionally for the students’ future isn’t a big deal.
Grace stood up and placed the prepared materials in front of Claire Green, "These are the math competition questions from previous years; take them back for a look. Here are some math competition questions I’ve prepared for you. Spend time writing them when you can."
Seeing Grace’s series of actions, Claire’s gaze paused, a curve appearing.
Grace’s preparations are quite thorough.
Meeting the girl’s eyes, Grace forced a smile, feeling a bit guilty as she started to dismiss her.
"Well then, take the materials back to the classroom."
Claire chuckled softly, feeling like she’s been tossed aside after being used.
Reaching out to gather the materials from the table, sensing their weight, she quirked her lips; Grace really showed ’heavy’ affection for her.
Until the girl’s figure vanished, Grace let out a long sigh of relief.
The expression made the fifth-grade teacher who’d been watching burst into laughter.
"Teacher Grace, why do I feel like your roles with Claire have reversed? You’re so afraid of her?"
His words were teasing, prompting laughter from the other teachers who had just entered.
"You all know Claire’s personality. I used reverse psychology on her this time, and I’m actually quite worried."
Though Grace’s face showed helplessness, the humor in her tone was unmistakable.
After speaking, several teachers in the office couldn’t help but smile kindly.
"What’s going on that’s so happy?"
William James entered the office with his lesson plans, curious about the jovial atmosphere.
After hearing the whole story, he was initially startled, then said a hearty ’good’.
The reaction alarmed the teachers quite a bit.
Feeling his own reaction was a bit much, he awkwardly rubbed his nose, "Claire has the talent. If she practices the math competition questions well these days, maybe she’ll really surprise us in the competition."
"Never mind the surprises," Grace waved her hand, "I just hope she doesn’t pull any stunts."
As she finished speaking.
The office fell silent.
Recalling the past antics of that girl, everyone fought back laughter.
"She should be fine this time," the third-grade teacher was somewhat unsure, "After all, it’s an international competition."
"Do you think she’d care what kind of competition it is?" William tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"I’ll talk to her again," Grace sighed, not knowing whether to laugh or cry having such a student.
...
The sixth-grade crowd watched curiously as the girl entered carrying a pile of stuff.
Once she set it down, Harry Lewis couldn’t resist coming over, "What’s this stuff...?"
Halfway through his question, upon seeing what was on top, he exclaimed in surprise, "Math competition questions. Grace really wants you to compete, Claire."
Otherwise, why give so many math problems if not? Nothing better to do?
"Grace sure knows how to pick someone."
"It’s an international competition; Claire, go for it, bring back first place."
"I can already imagine their expressions when they lose to Claire."
John Sinclair looked around, trying to suppress the grin threatening to spread, pretending to be calm, "Don’t say things like that, Claire, just perform steadily."
Haha.
Come on, Sinclair, try to hide that smile.
Seeing the excitement of the crowd, Claire felt a bit helpless; who exactly was competing?
"Shut up," she casually tossed out the words.
The classroom immediately fell silent, everyone collectively immersing themselves in their phones.
...
"Did you hear? The school has decided to let Claire Green compete in the math competition."
"Really? The school only has two spots in total, and they decided so hastily?"
"Not too hasty; after all, her grades are there, and there’s no one better in school. Picking her makes sense."
In the first-grade classroom, Olivia Song heard her classmates’ discussion, gripping her pen a bit tighter.
Thinking about how she fought for a spot and got rejected, her heart was filled with resentment.
Why could she be predetermined, while Olivia was dismissed?
Suddenly.
A malevolent voice echoed.
"Olivia, didn’t you fight for a spot too? What did the teacher say?"
Gao Jie crossed her arms, watched Olivia Song with a face full of amusement.
Olivia Song pursed her lips and said gently, "The teacher said I should practice more questions these days, but I’m not sure if that counts as agreeing."
Upon hearing this, everyone crowded around.
"It must be a yes; otherwise, why let you practice questions?"
"Olivia, I believe in you. You must beat sixth-grade this time."
"Yes, our class was always the excellent one in teachers’ eyes, but now it’s all sixth-grade."
Gao Jie looked at the flattering crowd with a sneer, fools for believing such words.
She heard personally how the teacher rejected someone; pretending calm now, she must be panicking inside.
Just as Gao Jie thought, Olivia Song started to panic; if these people spread something that reached the teacher’s ears, she’d be humiliated.
Thinking about this, she smiled softly at the people in front of her, and said somewhat embarrassedly, "Don’t say things like that; the teacher didn’t say it’s me. If we misunderstood, it will be really embarrassing."
Upon hearing.
Everyone replied in an understanding tone, acting like they ’got it’.
The school’s beauty wanted to stay low-key, then catch the sixth-grade by surprise.
"I’ll wait for Olivia to secure the other spot," Gao Jie kept her mocking gaze on her for two seconds before looking away.
"Gao Jie, stop being sarcastic."
A boy who had long disliked Gao Jie spoke up, unable to contain his anger after her words.
"Did I?" Gao Jie blinked, "I’m really looking forward to it."
"You."
"What, you want to hit me?"
Seeing the boy about to move, Olivia Song frowned disapprovingly at him, "We’re classmates, don’t fight."
After speaking, she looked at Gao Jie with grievance, "I don’t know why you’re always targeting me."
Gao Jie had just opened her mouth when a sarcastic remark froze Olivia Song.
"Of course, it’s being sickened by your hypocrisy."
Rae Zander stood at the classroom door, staring and speaking word by word.
During the time they fell out, she’d thought it through; remembering her past foolish actions felt really stupid.
Obviously, Olivia Song just lowered her head, yet she felt Olivia was so wronged, doing everything for her, blamed for every mishap.
Really, she was nothing but a pawn in Olivia’s hands.
"Rae, do you have to be like this?" Olivia Song’s eyes reddened, her voice choking.
For a moment, most of the class showed unfriendly expressions.
"I’m just expressing my feelings," Rae said expressionlessly, "Can’t take it?"
Olivia Song lowered her eyes, hatred and anger intertwined.
Just a few questions from Rae, yet she’d held a grudge till now.
"Rae Zander, weren’t you and Olivia the best of sisters? Did it have to get like this?" a girl asked, furrowing her brow, full of confusion.
They were always inseparable, envied by many; though something seemed off recently, it wasn’t as bad as now.
"Sisters," Rae sneered, "How could I be worthy of being her sister?"
