Chapter 211: Chapter 116: The Day He Gets Married Is Her Due Date 2_2
Rebecca Quentin snatched the ultrasound image from Howard Geoffrey’s hand, "If it’s not nice to look at, then don’t look at it. After all, the child has nothing to do with you!!"
Howard Geoffrey looked innocent and said, "How did I offend you again?"
"You said the child is ugly!"
"He indeed... isn’t very good-looking!"
Rebecca Quentin became more and more furious, "He’s only five months now. What do you expect? The doctor even said his features are very defined and suggested he might look more like you, yet you..."
Realizing she had inadvertently expressed joy that the child might resemble him, Rebecca Quentin immediately shut her mouth tight, a tinge of bitterness welling up inside her.
In fact, it would be bad if the child resembled him at all...
She didn’t want to be constantly reminded of him every time she faced the child in the future.
Howard Geoffrey placed his hand gently on Rebecca Quentin’s thin shoulder and consoled her, "Alright, I’m inexperienced, how would I know what a five-month-old fetus looks like... Did the doctor really say he might look like me?"
Rebecca Quentin angrily pushed Howard Geoffrey away and turned around.
Howard Geoffrey hurried after her, "Becca, did the doctor say what part of the child looks like me, the eyes or the nose..."
On the way back, although both of them were silent, for some reason, their moods improved significantly.
Rebecca Quentin looked out the window and suddenly said, "Stop by the roadside, I need to get something."
Howard Geoffrey parked the car at the roadside and naturally went to support her.
Rebecca Quentin got out of the car, and unlike before, she no longer resisted Howard Geoffrey’s assistance strongly. She said mildly, "Either go or wait here for me, I’ll be back soon."
"What are you buying? I’ll get it for you."
"You can’t buy it."
"Then I’ll accompany you inside."
Realizing that what she was buying was not something unspeakable, Rebecca Quentin said coolly, "Suit yourself."
Inside the mother-and-baby shop, Rebecca Quentin smiled and asked, "Excuse me, do you sell postpartum recovery products or skincare here?"
The young shop assistant was momentarily dazed upon seeing a handsome guy.
Rebecca Quentin asked again, "Excuse me..."
This snapped the shop assistant out of her reverie, "Oh, miss, your husband is very handsome."
Having waited so long just to hear such a reply from the shop assistant, Rebecca Quentin couldn’t help but glare at Howard Geoffrey.
The shop assistant asked again, "Sorry, miss, what do you need?"
Rebecca Quentin helplessly repeated herself.
After buying the desired postpartum recovery products, Howard Geoffrey held the bag for Rebecca Quentin and asked, "Are you worried that you won’t recover well postpartum?"
Rebecca Quentin walked ahead of Howard Geoffrey and replied, "Of course, I still have to get married."
"Really?" A hint of displeasure flickered in Howard Geoffrey’s dark eyes, but he still spoke with an unchanging calmness, "Actually, you can choose to exercise to maintain your figure!"
"By the time I deliver the baby, it will be cold, and I don’t want to exercise." Mainly because she’ll likely be busy taking care of the child and won’t have much time.
Howard Geoffrey’s eyes gleamed slyly, "You can choose indoor exercises."
Rebecca Quentin turned her face towards Howard Geoffrey in confusion, "What kind of indoor exercise?"
"Oh, I suddenly remembered, you might not be able to do it alone." Howard Geoffrey replied seriously.
Rebecca Quentin furrowed her brow and muttered, "What kind of indoor exercise requires two people?"
At this point, a young couple walking past them suddenly burst into laughter.
Rebecca Quentin felt a bit puzzled, but after a few seconds, she finally realized and blushed deeply, "Howard Geoffrey!!"
Howard Geoffrey, with a smile at the corner of his mouth, walked to the car, placed the purchases in the trunk, and held open the passenger door for Rebecca Quentin.
Rebecca Quentin’s face was flush as she lowered her head and sat in the car.
Rebecca Quentin decided not to pay attention to him anymore; after all, he was teasing her!
The atmosphere, initially filled with a sense of ambiguity, was interrupted as his phone rang at that moment.
"Howard Geoffrey?" Alice Robinson called.
"What’s up?"
Howard Geoffrey paused and asked with his usual cool demeanor, even towards his current girlfriend.
The car interior was silent and enclosed, so Alice Robinson’s voice wasn’t low, and Rebecca Quentin could hear it clearly.
"What have you been busy with lately? I haven’t seen you for a while... I’m at your place now, come home and keep me company!"
"I’ve been busy with work."
"But Jason Wood told me that you’re not at the company, you’re not even in New York."
"Is there something you need?"
"I just miss you a lot, and I want to see you!"
Howard Geoffrey was silent for a moment. Rebecca Quentin sat quietly beside him, outwardly calm, but holding her breath.
"I’m busy right now." After a while, Howard Geoffrey replied nonchalantly.
"When will you be free? I’ll wait for you at your place..."
Rebecca Quentin sensed that Howard Geoffrey looked at her at this moment, and she continued to pretend to be indifferent, looking out at the street through the window.
"I’ll call you back later." Howard Geoffrey pressed the hang-up button.
So, his new girlfriend has such a pleasant voice, and she seems to be very understanding...
Rebecca Quentin remained unfazed, but her mind was already distracted while looking at the scenery outside the window.
"I might not be able to keep you company." Howard Geoffrey finally spoke to her with a low tone.
"No one asked you to keep me company. Where you go is none of my business." Rebecca Quentin maintained her cold tone.
"Let me take you home first then!"
"No need, drop me off by the roadside. There’s not much distance left; I’ll go back myself... You should return to New York early to accompany your girlfriend!" Rebecca Quentin said with an unchanged calm tone.
Howard Geoffrey didn’t say another word along the way. When the car reached outside the house, Howard Geoffrey stopped the car and turned to look at Rebecca Quentin, "Take care of yourself."
Rebecca Quentin’s previously calm expression stiffened, "I don’t need you to say that." She replied as she opened the car door and got out.
She no longer feels jealousy now.
She had promised herself, and had resolved that she would let go of her six years of feelings for Howard Geoffrey little by little, and would never cling to them again.
Howard Geoffrey got out of the car, took out the things they bought from the car.
Rebecca Quentin took the purchased items from Howard Geoffrey and turned to leave.
Howard Geoffrey gazed at her slender back for a long time and then suddenly got back into the car.
Rebecca Quentin dazedly stepped onto the steps, and from behind came the sound of the car leaving.
When no sound of the car could be heard in her ears anymore, Rebecca Quentin turned around and looked in the direction where the car disappeared.
A sharp pain crossed her heart, and she bit her lip tightly.
