"What exactly is the New Moon Faction?" Gu Ya asked.
The female brain replied calmly, "Researching alien technology."
"With the help of the previous Awakened Divine Power wielder, we had a brief fourth-type contact with extraterrestrial beings."
"But afterward, the Divine Power wielder and they had a disagreement."
"Later, a celestial body comet descended, completely severing humanity's connection with the universe."
"It's all in the past now. We won't speculate on history, and it would be meaningless."
"For Huiye, the present is the future."
Gu Ya nodded. After chatting about some inconsequential matters, they prepared to leave.
The "dream" was torn apart. As Gu Ya stepped out,
The female brain stood still, calmly watching Gu Ya, and softly reminded, "Divine Power wielder, two matters are very important to you. Please consider them carefully."
"First, the Chongli Sect is not the only organization seeking your death."
"Second, not long ago, my secret scout sent intelligence that the Science Department led by Lai Feng · Fanan is researching a supercomputer codenamed 'Haiyang'."
"Based on preliminary analysis, it is a more complete and powerful computer than Heiyang. Furthermore, they have found an ideal assimilator."
"If left unchecked, perhaps soon a new species, tentatively named 'Computer Lifeform,' will be born."
"The main brains unanimously predict that it will be a disaster more severe than the mech crisis."
"The main brains?" Gu Ya muttered inwardly, then nodded calmly and emerged from the rift of the "dream" back into reality.
In reality, he appeared on the outskirts of Huiye City, facing a boundless night, with the brilliant lights of Huiye City behind him.
Summoning the Thunderstorm Star, Gu Ya flew towards Xianxia.
This trip to Huiye City was quite fruitful.
He learned more about the world's hidden truths, and many things were intertwined, forming one closed loop after another.
The Yue Lun Base, the Old Days Faction, the New Moon Faction, the Chongli Sect, alien technology, and the supercomputer "Haiyang" that Lai Feng · Fanan was researching,
These matters were like mountains revealed after parting the mist, blocking Gu Ya's path.
He had previously thought things were too simple, believing that eradicating the Black Star Empire and then using the solitary secret space to clear planetary barriers would bring clear skies back to humanity.
But now, it seemed many things were interconnected, and touching one would affect the whole.
"The main brains..." Gu Ya was somewhat concerned. After a moment of contemplation, he softly murmured, "Perhaps it's a conspiracy, using me to achieve their goals."
Returning to Xianxia from Huiye City, Gu Ya tried to contact Liang Yuwei, but to no avail.
He rested at home for nearly a week.
One quiet night, Liang Yuwei arrived uninvited.
"Let's talk in a quieter place," Liang Yuwei said, hands in his pockets, standing at the doorway and smiling culturedly at Gu Ya.
Glancing back at Ye Ying, who was already asleep in the bedroom, Gu Ya put on his jacket and walked with Liang Yuwei to the backyard.
"Once the fog is cleared, problems follow in succession," Liang Yuwei said, leaning against a large tree and lighting a cigarette. "That's why I've come back to help you resolve these doubts."
Gu Ya got straight to the point and asked, "Besides secretly protecting me and monitoring extraterrestrial beings, what else do you do?"
Liang Yuwei took a shallow puff of his cigarette, exhaled a wisp of pale gray smoke, and said, "You misunderstand. We do not protect Divine Power wielders. We only supervise, correct, and record."
Gu Ya nodded and continued, "In these past three hundred years, how many Divine Power wielders have there been?"
"There are eighty-five officially recorded, including you. Three of them were killed by us. And countless others, unknown to us, perished for various reasons."
Gu Ya sighed lightly, then after a moment of silence, asked, "What is your purpose?"
"Intervention..." Liang Yuwei gazed at Gu Ya and said softly, "To ensure that Divine Power wielders do not become entities that destroy humanity."
"We cannot fathom the rules of the four-dimensional being that selects the past, but we know it doesn't care about human lives, only about technological progress."
"Many times, we feel it is deliberately avoiding us."
"I heard you contacted the Chongli Sect in Huiye City. That's good. It shows you are smarter and progressing faster than we imagined."
"Once a Divine Power wielder awakens to the elite stage, the line between us and the Chongli Sect becomes blurred; we are both allies and enemies."
"Because of human nature, some Divine Power wielders become very difficult to handle after awakening."
Gu Ya clenched his fists, glared at Liang Yuwei, and said coldly, "In other words, if I exhibit certain dark traits and act in ways detrimental to humanity, you and the Chongli Sect will join forces to kill me!"
Liang Yuwei tidied his hair and gave a confident smile.
Gu Ya suddenly remembered what Ling Baifeng had told him a year ago at the opening ceremony of Youyou's school, in the mecha training ground: [...but strong competitiveness also belongs to a dark personality, easily leading one astray. If you have strength, you must do the right thing].
"I see..." Gu Ya murmured. "Your network is very extensive. Ling Baifeng is one of your people, isn't he?"
Liang Yuwei smiled faintly at Gu Ya and said, "You are indeed intelligent, with a good memory. We almost executed him for that very statement."
"Gu Ya, you are the most promising person I have seen in decades."
"And you have achieved in two years what most Divine Power wielders take over a decade to accomplish."
"I have studied everything you have done since you awakened. I know that you have not been entirely satisfied or smooth sailing."
"Despite possessing divine power, you haven't acted wantonly. You are restrained, low-key, and resolute, constantly challenging the impossible."
"Anyone else would have long since used their divine power to gain wealth and pleasure, though of course, they wouldn't live long enough to truly enjoy it."
Gu Ya's fists clenched tighter.
Liang Yuwei's words were like a sharp blade piercing his chest. If he displayed any dark, greedy, lazy, or any other negative personality trait, Liang Yuwei and those behind him would immediately come to kill him.
The feeling of being constantly watched by so many people was unpleasant.
Gu Ya suddenly felt a suffocating sensation, as if tightly bound by chains, which made him extremely displeased!
It seemed that whether it was the Old Days Faction, the Chongli Sect, or any other organization with a different name, any that were detrimental to him had to be dealt with.
Gu Ya's expression gradually turned cold, and he asked chillingly, "Do you think you really have the power to kill me? I don't think so."
Liang Yuwei lit his second cigarette, took a deep drag, the tip glowing brighter in the darkness, then fading. After holding it in his lungs for a few seconds, he exhaled smoke.
He smiled faintly and said, "Gu Ya, you should trust me. We have dealt with several Divine Power wielders more troublesome than you over the years. You should believe we truly have this capability."
Saying that, Liang Yuwei took out a small can, like a grenade, from his trench coat pocket and gently pressed a switch on it.
Gu Ya suddenly felt his body bound by some unknown force, unable to exert strength or speak. He felt as if he had been drained.
A desire to kill was instantly ignited. Gu Ya spread his hands, conjuring an crimson light blade.
But his hands were empty.
Alarm surged through him. Gu Ya roared again, concentrating his power. A phantom image of the crimson light blade flashed across his palm.
Liang Yuwei said calmly, "The creator of the Old Days Faction, Qi Yu, left this for us before departing, to counterbalance Divine Power wielders."
"Imaginary White Hole. You should have this skill, though you have never used it."
As he spoke, Liang Yuwei brought the small can closer to Gu Ya and shook it, saying, "This is a treasure taken from the Imaginary White Hole, the Equilibrium Jar. It can restrain your abilities."
Gu Ya tried to grab it, but he couldn't lift his hand.
Cold sweat broke out all over his body, drenching him. Gu Ya felt an unprecedented surge of anger, fear, and panic.
"Threatening me?" Gu Ya snarled.
Suddenly, Heiyang and his consciousness avatar appeared beside Liang Yuwei and immediately moved to snatch the Equilibrium Jar.
Liang Yuwei immediately crouched to dodge the four hands, and simultaneously, four mechanical arms extended from beneath his trench coat, firmly restraining Heiyang and the consciousness avatar.
With a slight exertion of force from two of the mechanical hands, the consciousness avatar's arms were twisted and broken with a "crack."
Intense tearing pain transmitted from Gu Ya's arms to his brain!
"Ah—!" Gu Ya roared in pain!
At that moment, Ye Ying burst through the door, brandishing a fruit knife, her face burning with rage, and charged at Liang Yuwei!
(Author: My apologies, I always get Ling Baifeng's name mixed up. In a few chapters, I wrote Bai Lingfeng. It is now consistently Ling Baifeng.)
