Chapter 448 The Mire Called "World"

"In this world, there are only everlasting interests, not everlasting enemies or friends."

"Discard your black-and-white thinking. Killing will only leave you alone."

"Even if you kill everyone who obstructs your path, your vision will be blocked."

After Huai Ye Ai Li calmly uttered these words, she turned and continued to tap on the keyboard.

A flame inexplicably surged in Gu Ya's heart, as if something was being choked back.

"Unsatisfied!"

This feeling of dissatisfaction had been pervading his heart since he arrived in this world.

Even killing those eyesores only moved him forward a small step.

And the price was that more baffling events followed.

He truly felt that he had fallen into a quagmire called "the world."

It was as if he was at odds with the entire world.

This contradicted his original ideal; he wanted to save the world, but why had he become an enemy of the world?

This sense of bewilderment struck him again. The fog ahead grew thicker, and the more he knew, the denser the fog became.

Was he wrong, was he crazy, or was this world crazy?

"Hey!" Ai Li called out, "I've called you three times. What are you spacing out about? Look!"

Gu Ya pulled himself out of his daze and looked at the holographic projection in front of him.

It was the only remaining natural satellite of the planet: Yue Lan.

This was an image taken by a high-powered telescope. Through layers of space debris and asteroid walls, a massive city could be vaguely seen on Yue Lan, situated in the center of a giant crater.

Ai Li continued, "Our connection with the Old Day faction has been for hundreds of years. The previous Divine Power inheritor also came to us, and..."

As Ai Li spoke, a hint of tears suddenly welled up in her eyes.

"...had a romance with a Huai Ye woman. But he had too many lovers worldwide and was too busy."

"Was it you?" Gu Ya blurted out.

Ai Li burst into tears and laughter, covering her stomach. After laughing for a while, she said, "That's hilarious! That was three hundred years ago! How could I be so old? Of course, it was with my mother!"

"Old woman..." Gu Ya said to Ai Li ungratefully.

"Yes, I'm over a hundred years old, how can I not be old?" Ai Li admitted generously, then continued, "Let's set aside the past. We suspect that the ancient Dunsa people established the Yue Lan base."

"We have been dedicated to researching their technology."

"Besides the Wall of Truth that you broke, there's also the technology of flesh turning into machinery."

Gu Ya coldly interrupted, "Then what caused the formation of the comet and the planetary barrier? With the ability of the previous Divine Power inheritor, destroying a comet would not have required the sacrifice of a natural satellite!"

"No matter how brainless he was, he should have realized that destroying a natural satellite would have severe consequences for the mother planet's ecosystem!"

Ai Li pouted and said, "Then you'll have to ask him! How could we mortals know the thoughts of gods."

"Ask?" Gu Ya was confused. "Ask where? Is he still alive?"

Ai Li turned to Gu Ya with an incredulous smile and said, "You are the inheritor of divine power, and you don't know where to ask him. How could we know?"

Gu Ya took a deep breath and exhaled heavily, "Alright!"

"I knew it! The more I know, the more things get entangled!"

"This world is truly crazy!"

Ai Li said seriously, "There's more craziness, at least for you."

"There's an ancient organization that has been hunting down every Divine Power inheritor for thousands of years."

Gu Ya thought he had misheard and after careful consideration, asked, "Someone is hunting me?"

"Yes. After each Divine Power inheritor dies, a new one appears. Most Divine Power inheritors die for various reasons before they can truly awaken. A large portion of these deaths are assassinations by that organization."

"There are many reasons for this, either the Divine Power inheritor is too high-profile, revealing their abilities too early and attracting the attention of that ancient organization, or the ancient organization discovers and eliminates them proactively."

"But you are different. You are very low-key. At least when I learned about this, you had already awakened to the intermediate stage."

"And after you defeated Hei Yang, your abilities seem to have become even stronger."

Ai Li's expression suggested she already knew about this.

"So, your predecessor created the precursor to the Old Day faction, specifically responsible for protecting past Divine Power inheritors."

"They have made significant contributions in the past two years. Your growth to this stage is partly due to their efforts behind the scenes."

"The closest you came to death that I know of was in Shan Hai City, when you were being assimilated by Hei Yang."

"Most people in our Huai Ye family don't pay much attention to Divine Power inheritors. Conversely, if you agree, we are happy to cooperate with you. After all, technology knows no borders. And every Divine Power inheritor has a common characteristic: they strive to maintain world peace and promote the advancement of human technology. Of course, this is also related to your future self. Perhaps the Machine God wishes to see technological progress."

"But some people object. They advocate killing you and returning the world to normalcy."

"This is all I know. You can talk to the Old Day faction about specific matters when you have time."

Gu Ya fell into thought. He had initially expected this trip to Huai Ye City to end with the city's destruction or the eradication of the Huai Ye family.

But as it stood, these science fanatics didn't seem to have any intention of harming him.

Instead, the ancient mysterious organization was more worthy of vigilance.

This hidden danger must be eliminated.

"Don't celebrate too early. There are members of that organization within our Huai Ye family. Perhaps, by the time you leave me, they will be waiting at the door."

"I warned you, I don't recommend you attack Huai Ye City, but you still came. Sigh, it's your nature."

Ai Li spoke unhurriedly.

"It was you who used Sakuan's identity to send me the last piece of intelligence," Gu Ya said calmly. "You wanted to tell me that Huai Ye City is not safe."

Huai Ye Ai Li turned around, looked at Gu Ya calmly, and nodded, "You guessed half right!"

"As a descendant of the previous awakened Divine Power inheritor, his blood flows through me, so of course, I consider you. But I can only help you this much. I am just an ordinary member of the Huai Ye family and cannot control the future."

"You used Fu Ya Fang's concerns about the Huai Ye family to lure me here and inform me of the danger," Gu Ya analyzed.

Ai Li shook her head and said, "Fu Ya Fang is overthinking. I'm just interested in you. I don't want to capture you, nor do I have any reason to. I can research your technology by studying Xu Jie."

Gu Ya nodded and said, "Speaking of Xu Jie, what happened to him? How did he become like this?"

Ai Li did not directly answer Gu Ya's question. Instead, she said indifferently, "If one day you find me changed, please don't be surprised, and please let me go. Because that is part of my plan, and it has nothing to do with you."

"Oh, right, there's one more thing."

Huai Ye Ai Li stood up, walked to Gu Ya, and with a hint of worry, said, "The real reason I advised you not to come to Huai Ye City is that the current mastermind of Huai Ye City is a member of that mysterious organization and supports your assassination."

"I was granted the city's highest authority by it. I suspect it wants to use me to research the alien technology on Xu Jie to establish communication with the Yue Lan base. But I won't let it succeed."

Gu Ya was a little confused and asked, "But you know the mastermind wants to use you, yet you still insist on researching Xu Jie. What are your motives and objectives?"

Ai Li smiled and said, "It's the objective of our 'New Moon Faction.' Research alien technology and prepare for the future. Some Huai Ye people are members of the New Moon Faction, and I am one of them."

Gu Ya wanted to ask more questions, but Ai Li gave him the eviction notice.

"Our purpose is irrelevant to you. We just have different directions, which won't hinder you, so you don't need to know too much."

"Let's go, before the mastermind has completely identified you..."

As she spoke, Ai Li's expression suddenly froze.

Her two eyeballs rapidly transformed into a crystalline state, eventually becoming mechanical eyeballs.

The deep blue mechanical eyes contracted and enlarged repeatedly, finally returning to normal eyeballs.

Everything happened so strangely that Gu Ya didn't even understand what had happened.

Huai Ye Ai Li looked at Gu Ya again, forcing a worried expression, and said, "It seems my plan has to be advanced!"

"What do you mean!?" Gu Ya was confused.

"The mastermind has discovered you and has dispatched heavy troops. They are on their way," Ai Li said nervously, quickly putting on her white coat and heading towards the inner chamber.

Ai Li, who was just about to escape, turned to Gu Ya and said, "Good luck! If we meet again and I become hostile towards you, remember to spare my life. Because that is part of my plan, consider it a preemptive plea!"

After saying that, Ai Li rushed into the inner chamber and locked the door heavily.

Gu Ya nodded, silently agreeing to Ai Li, and copied all the data from her holographic projection to study later.

Having done all this, Gu Ya summoned his exoskeleton armor and hid in the secluded space.

When Gu Ya emerged from the secluded space again, no one was beside him.

A massive metal tank stood before his eyes.

Countless glowing light strips crisscrossed the metal tank, resembling data communication streams, flowing and flashing on the tank's surface.

Gu Ya placed his hands gently on the metal tank and calmly said, "You sent heavy troops to kill me. If I don't kill you, it would be disrespectful, wouldn't it, Huai Ye City mastermind?"

"Use whatever abilities you have! If I take a step back, I'm not Gu Ya!!"

"Code Tampering!!"
