Chapter 887 The Invitation

"President Di, there's no need to mock me in your words. I'm merely informing you out of politeness, Ye Ziyu is mine, no matter what." Gu Xiuyu's smile was gone.

However, this overly serious attitude made Di Mingjue want to laugh.

"In your eyes, is Ye Ziyu a commodity? Something you can have just because you want it?" Di Mingjue sneered. "Mr. Gu, you're too old to be saying such childish things."

Gu Xiuyu now resembled an elementary school student, who, upon liking something, believed it could be obtained through money or forceful acquisition.

Instead of getting angry at these words, Gu Xiuyu pulled an invitation from his pocket. "Since President Di is so confident, do you dare to bring Ziyu back with you to the Gu family banquet tomorrow?"

Looking at the invitation, Di Mingjue's eyebrows rose. "A provocation?"

Too bad. Provocation didn't work on him.

Taking the invitation, Di Mingjue placed it on the table. "Ziyu dislikes banquets, but if Mr. Gu insists on inviting, I suppose I can spare a few hours to grace the occasion."

"Good, I look forward to seeing President Di at the banquet tomorrow," Gu Xiuyu said as he stood up.

Surprisingly, he didn't try to persuade Di Mingjue to bring Ye Ziyu.

What was he planning?

Di Mingjue watched his retreating back. He looked down at the invitation on the table, picked it up, and with a sense of doubt, went to the room on the second floor.

Seeing his preoccupied state, Ye Ziyu immediately went to him. "What did you talk about?"

He took out the invitation and handed it to Ye Ziyu.

"A banquet hosted by the Gu Corporation," Ye Ziyu said. "He's inviting us to go tomorrow."

"No, I'll be going alone," Di Mingjue replied.

Ye Ziyu paused, then asked uncertainly, "You're going by yourself?"

"Yes. His initial intention was for me to bring you along, to compete for you with me openly. But I said you don't like such events, yet he agreed when I said I might grace it with my presence." Di Mingjue felt that tomorrow's banquet was no ordinary event. Gu Xiuyu might have organized it specifically targeting him.

Ye Ziyu had also considered this. She uneasily held Di Mingjue's shoulder. "Perhaps we shouldn't go."

"It's alright, I have to meet him eventually. Otherwise, he'll keep finding ways to approach you," Di Mingjue comforted Ye Ziyu.

Gu Xiuyu was like a minor trouble in their relationship. Only by personally removing this trouble could they stop being interrupted.

He put the invitation away on the cabinet and pulled Ye Ziyu to the bedside. "Rest for a while. The doctor said you can't get too tired recently."

Compelled to sit on the bed, Ye Ziyu felt like someone unable to move, lying down under Di Mingjue's care.

Di Mingjue tucked her in, bent down, and kissed her forehead. "Rest well, I'll go check on the children."

"Mm," Ye Ziyu nodded and obediently closed her eyes.

The door opened and then closed. Listening to the sound, Ye Ziyu slowly drifted into sleep.

Suddenly, she heard the door open, mistaking it for Di Mingjue's return.

But as the footsteps drew closer, she sensed something unusual from their weight.

"Xingxing?" Ye Ziyu opened her eyes and saw Xingxing standing by the bed. "Why did you come over? Is there something you need?"

"Are you sick?" Xingxing asked with a worried expression.

He had been very worried about Ye Ziyu during her time in the hospital, fearing something might happen to her. More than her becoming cold towards him, he feared not seeing her again.

Ye Ziyu sat up in bed, leaning against the headboard. "Are you worried about me?"

Xingxing nodded.

Ye Ziyu smiled with relief and dotingly stroked his forehead. "Don't worry, I'm fine. It's just that there's too much going on, and I'm physically tired. Rest will help."
