"Why are you all arguing?" Jiang Ziyu descended the stairs, looking bewildered. Her gaze swept over the slap mark on Wu Xuerou's face, and she concernedly embraced the trembling Xiaoshan.
Having previously tried every means to harm Qianqian, Wu Xuerou, seeing Xiaoshan in Jiang Ziyu's arms, worried that she might harm him.
Her sharp fingernails dug into her own hand. Wu Xuerou, fiercely protective of her child, pulled Xiaoshan closer, "Mommy is here! Xiaoshan isn't scared!"
Hearing her whimper, Jiang Ziyu had to admit she was a good mother.
"Is Qianqian alright?" Di Ruihe put on a concerned expression. "I've already sternly criticized and educated him. This will not happen again today."
"It's nothing." Jiang Ziyu's eyes settled on Di Ruihe. Seeing his face covered in a layer of false concern, she couldn't help but admire his acting skills.
Di Ruihe let out a sigh of relief as if he had been pardoned, patting his chest. "That's good. I was afraid this kid would make Qianqian uncomfortable."
The harm inflicted by a child was but a drop in the ocean compared to adult cruelty.
Jiang Ziyu stood motionless.
The atmosphere suddenly became quiet, only the soft sobs of Xiaoshan and Wu Xuerou's heavy breathing could be heard.
Hearing the sounds from the mother and son, Di Ruihe felt an unbearable irritation. He once again spoke in a harsh tone, "Shut up!"
His angry shout was as if he wanted to tear off the entire roof. Realizing Jiang Ziyu was nearby, Di Ruihe softened his voice slightly, "Hurry up and take him upstairs to wash."
Xiaoshan's face was covered in snot from crying, his eyes red and swollen, making him look as if he had been abused.
After a long while, seeing that neither of them had reacted, Di Ruihe walked over and nudged them, "Don't make me repeat myself!"
When he lost his temper, he didn't care who the other person was. Fearing they would be beaten again, Wu Xuerou clutched Xiaoshan, her eyes filled with fierce resentment as she moved away from Jiang Ziyu.
As their figures disappeared up the stairs, Di Ruihe rubbed his palms together. "Xiaoshan has been spoiled by his mother."
"Indeed," Jiang Ziyu agreed.
Caught off guard by her response, Di Ruihe chuckled awkwardly. "How has Qianqian been recently? Does she still vomit when she takes her medicine?"
He had watched her take almost every dose of medicine. Didn't he know that?
Jiang Ziyu's gaze swept over his face. "We need Dr. Xu to examine Qianqian again tomorrow."
"Okay."
After agreeing, Di Ruihe took his phone and went to the side. He dialed a number, but the recipient's phone was turned off. He lowered his head, looking at the number on the screen, replaying it over and over in his mind, individual digits forming a string.
He pressed it again, but the voice from the earpiece was still that the phone was turned off.
His impatience grew. Di Mingjue took his phone and went to the landline. Matching the numbers on it, he dialed using the landline.
"The number you have dialed is switched off..."
Hearing the voice from the other end, Jiang Ziyu stepped forward and asked, "What's wrong? Can't Dr. Xu come?"
"It's nothing, maybe he's busy right now," Di Ruihe replied evasively.
He quickly typed out a text message, which vanished into the vast sea like a small pebble.
How strange!
Di Ruihe put away his phone and found an excuse to leave the Di residence.
He accelerated the car to its maximum speed, as if it were about to sprout wings and fly. As he passed through a traffic light, the traffic policeman next to him watched the speeding vehicle flash by.
Sensing danger, he opened the pager on his collar, informing the traffic police at the upcoming intersection to block the road.
Police officers on the roadside made hurried noises. Everyone nervously slowed down to be inspected. Only Di Ruihe, with a step on the accelerator, broke through the checkpoint, smashing the roadblocks.
A sharp-eyed traffic officer recognized the license plate number and immediately signaled for the vehicles ahead to clear the lane.
In the capital, regardless of their official position, people were reluctant to offend the Di family.
