"Are you sure?" Jiang Ziyu stood up from her chair, incredulous at what she was hearing on the phone.
Mu Liangchen vowed, "Of course. Would I tell you if I wasn't sure?"
Considering Mu Liangchen's capabilities, Jiang Ziyu chose to believe him.
She knew Di Residence was a cesspool, but she hadn't expected it to be so riddled with vermin. Fortunately, she had left in advance. No matter how much chaos ensued in Di Residence during this time, it wouldn't affect them.
After hanging up, Jiang Ziyu calmed herself and began to needle Yuze.
Watching his head gradually enveloped by silver needles, Jiang Ziyu grew more anxious.
It had been nearly half a year since they returned to the country, yet there had been no progress at all. If they hadn't returned, if they hadn't placed their hopes on Di Mingjue, would they have found a suitable kidney source abroad?
With the last needle, Jiang Ziyu almost made a mistake due to her distraction.
"Mommy!" Xiao Ran called out.
Snapping back to reality, Jiang Ziyu pricked her finger with the needle.
The needle prick was small, but a good amount of blood welled up. The silver needle was also dirty and could no longer be used. She replaced it with a new one, carefully inserting the remaining needles. She instructed Xiao Ran and Qianqian to watch quietly from the side, then went to the study.
His traditional Chinese medicine skills were inherited from his mother's family. After moving abroad, he coincidentally met an orthopedic specialist. The specialist was foreign and, although renowned locally, was not arrogant or impatient. Especially when facing Jiang Ziyu, he had studied Chinese acupuncture extensively. Upon learning that Jiang Ziyu practiced acupuncture and possessed exceptional skill, he humbly asked for her guidance.
Over time, they became friends.
Sitting at her computer, Jiang Ziyu typed, composing a long message in English. After reviewing it, she clicked send.
The email was sent, and a reply arrived within two minutes.
Opening the email, she scanned the reply.
The orthopedic doctor happened to have a seminar the following month, and it was to be held in Didu. The reply stated that once he arrived in Didu and finished with the seminar, he would contact her again.
Seeing him in person was much better than seeing photos. Jiang Ziyu compiled her Di Residence address and phone number into a text message and replied.
After finishing everything, when she came out of the study, an unwelcome guest had arrived.
Di Mingjue was sitting on the sofa. Only Qianqian remained in the living room.
Jiang Ziyu nervously scanned every corner of the living room. "Why are you here?"
"I was just passing by after finishing some business," Di Mingjue said calmly.
From his demeanor, Jiang Ziyu could not detect any emotional fluctuation. It seemed as if he was unaware of Yuze and Xiao Ran's existence.
Could they have already left?
Just as she was curious and wanting to know the answer, Qianqian approached Jiang Ziyu and pointed towards the guest room.
It turned out that shortly after Jiang Ziyu went upstairs, Di Mingjue had arrived. Xiao Ran had gone to open the door. Habitually, he looked through the peephole before opening it, which gave them time to hide.
"Are you leaving soon?" Jiang Ziyu asked calmly.
Di Mingjue's phone rang at that moment; it was Shen Lin. After a brief conversation, the call ended. He seemed to recall something and looked up at Jiang Ziyu. "What did you just say?"
"Nothing, would you like some water?" Jiang Ziyu asked.
"No, I'll be leaving shortly." Di Mingjue finished assembling the Lego he was holding and placed it on the table.
Knowing he would leave, Jiang Ziyu felt much relieved. She took Qianqian's hand and approached Di Mingjue, then found an excuse to go to the guest room.
The acupuncture session was almost over, and she had to remove the needles as quickly as possible.
"Mommy."
Jiang Ziyu covered Xiao Ran's mouth with her hand, silencing him.
The room's soundproofing was excellent, but she still feared that an accident might occur.
