Di Mingjue put down his open hand. "The idea is good, but it's not suitable for this project."
"Why?" Di Dongsheng questioned angrily. "Nothing has even started, how can you be so sure it's not possible?"
He left his desk and walked to the front, pointing at the proposal on the table. "Are you sure you've carefully considered the situation in the eastern suburbs?"
Building a resort in the suburbs was a good plan, but a good plan still depended on the actual terrain and surrounding conditions.
The eastern suburbs had high terrain and were surrounded by villages. Except for the area the government intended to develop, the rest belonged to private villagers. If the project was planned as a resort, not to mention whether the surrounding villagers would agree, the land area alone would make it impossible to perfectly implement the project.
Di Dongsheng was convinced that Di Mingjue was deliberately targeting him. Unwilling to accept this, he left the office huffily, clutching the documents.
As he walked out, he bumped into Jiang Ziyu, who was coming towards him. The documents scattered all over the ground. Di Dongsheng cursed and picked them up, tossing them into the trash can.
Jiang Ziyu glanced at the trash can. Several pages had not been completely thrown in, hanging precariously at the entrance. She looked at the person who was striding away, then walked forward and picked up the documents.
"The project in the eastern suburbs?" Jiang Ziyu turned and reached into the trash can to retrieve the remaining pages.
After a brief scan of the contents, she neatly folded the documents and put them into her handbag.
"Madam, are you looking for Mr. Di?" Shen Lin approached from behind.
Jiang Ziyu raised her arm, holding up the insulated bag. "Yes, I'm bringing him lunch."
"Mr. Di is in his office."
"Okay."
Jiang Ziyu, carrying the insulated bag, knocked on the door. Upon hearing a response from inside, she pushed it open and entered.
Seeing that it was Jiang Ziyu, Di Mingjue was surprised. He closed the file in front of him and appraised her with interest. "If I recall correctly, I don't think I asked you to come."
She placed the insulated bag on the desk and explained, "Grandma asked me to bring you food."
With the food placed before him, Di Mingjue felt a strong sense of dissonance. For some reason, he found himself hoping that the food was brought by Jiang Ziyu herself, rather than at the old lady's request.
"Set aside your work for a moment and eat. It won't taste good if it gets cold, and you need to rest at regular times," Jiang Ziyu said, stepping forward to remove the bag from the thermos and take out the utensils.
Three dishes and one soup were laid out before them.
Jiang Ziyu placed the chopsticks and the plates in front of Di Mingjue.
"Where are you going?" Di Mingjue asked, noticing the backpack that had never left Jiang Ziyu's shoulder.
Jiang Ziyu looked at him in bewilderment and turned back. "Home for dinner."
Was she not even allowed to leave for dinner?
Di Mingjue's eyes swept to the stool on the outer side of the desk, gesturing for Jiang Ziyu to sit down.
"You can bring back the used lunchbox when you get off work tonight. I won't wait here for you to finish," Jiang Ziyu stated plainly and turned to leave again.
"Stop!" Di Mingjue slapped the desk behind her. "Did I say you could leave?"
Jiang Ziyu, suppressing a surge of annoyance, turned back and asked politely, "Is there anything else?"
"Sit down and accompany me until I finish eating." Di Mingjue pointed to the chair in front of him.
Was he a child? Did he need company?
Jiang Ziyu rolled her eyes and refused, "There's only food for one person here. It's not enough for two."
"Don't make me repeat myself a third time!"
Reluctantly, Jiang Ziyu pulled out the stool.
Di Mingjue placed chopsticks in front of her and pushed the food towards her.
Testing for poison?
Jiang Ziyu picked up her chopsticks, tasted each dish, and then laid the chopsticks flat on the plate.
Di Mingjue rested his chin on his hand, his eyes filled with doting affection. The ambiguous atmosphere, however, only made Jiang Ziyu feel like Di Mingjue regarded her as his private pet.
