Chapter 126 Graveyard

The car drove forward, and Jiang Ziyu drove to the cemetery.

The cemetery was exceptionally quiet and desolate at night. She parked the car at the entrance and walked alone among the tombstones.

The wind rustled through the trees, and moonlight bathed the tombstones.

Some people in this world feared ghosts, yet they knew nothing of how much more terrifying the human heart could be.

Jiang Ziyu arrived at the tomb where her mother and grandmother were buried. She reached out and wiped the dust off the photos.

The bouquet she had left during her last visit had withered, its leaves fallen upon the tombstones.

She squatted on the ground before the tomb, took off her jacket, and tidied the items placed in front of it.

"I'm visiting you so late; did I disturb your rest? I just missed you so much, so I came to see you. Mom, do you know? Jiang's is on the verge of collapse under Jiang Wenbin's management. He wants me to help Jiang's by using my status as Di Mingjue's wife, but what he doesn't know is that I've been subtly contributing to Jiang's downfall."

Jiang Ziyu's voice echoed in the tranquil environment.

Not far away, a figure standing closer halted at Jiang Ziyu's words, listening silently to her narration.

An hour passed. Jiang Ziyu thought of Yu Ze waiting at home and reluctantly caressed the tombstone, "I'll bring you your favorite food another day. Don't worry about me; I'll take care of myself."

With that, she stood up and left.

Not long after she left, the person who had been lurking nearby walked over.

Looking down at the photos on the tombstones, the man raised his head and gazed in the direction Jiang Ziyu had gone.

...

"I thought my cousin-in-law was staying at her family's home tonight," Zhao Yanxia said sarcastically in the living room while wearing a face mask and glancing at the clock.

Jiang Ziyu took off her mud-covered shoes and changed into house slippers, ignoring her remark and walking past her.

"They really are a match made in heaven, equally rude!" Zhao Yanxia turned her head, refusing to back down.

If a few words could make her angry, how could she avenge the person she loved?

Jiang Ziyu went upstairs, not responding a single word throughout the entire journey.

"Why did it take so long?"

As she pushed open the door, Di Mingjue's questioning met her.

Jiang Ziyu looked at Yu Ze, who was asleep in his arms, and responded perfunctorily, "There was traffic."

"Traffic? Did the phone line also get blocked?" Di Mingjue pressed, unwilling to let it go.

"Did you call me?" Jiang Ziyu asked, fumbling in her pockets.

After searching everywhere, she realized her phone was lost.

Before Di Mingjue could speak again, she turned and ran out. On her way down the stairs, she bumped into Zhao Yanxia coming up. Ignoring her curses, she went all the way to the garage.

In the car, she searched her bag but couldn't find her phone.

Could it be at the cemetery?

Jiang Ziyu returned to the living room and picked up the landline, wanting to try something.

The familiar ring sounded once. Just as Jiang Ziyu was about to give up, the call was answered.

"Hello, is this the owner of the phone?" a kindly voice came from the phone.

Judging by the voice, Jiang Ziyu estimated the speaker's gender and age. She mistook him for a cemetery administrator and replied, "Yes, did my phone fall at the cemetery?"

"Yes, tell me when you have time to come and get it," the man replied.

Glancing at the high moon outside, Jiang Ziyu said, "Tomorrow, then. I'll contact you again."

"Okay."

After ending the call, Jiang Ziyu saw Di Mingjue appear on the stairs.

She put down the phone and turned to him, saying, "You heard it just now; I lost my phone."

"You went to the cemetery tonight?" Di Mingjue questioned further.

He had just arrived and overheard Jiang Ziyu's conversation with the person on the phone.

What business could possibly make her, a woman, dare to go to the cemetery alone in the middle of the night?

"I went to see my mother," Jiang Ziyu replied truthfully.
