“Li Se?” Fang Xiuxiu’s face lit up with surprise as she clearly saw the newcomer. She truly hadn’t expected Li Se to arrive like a white knight.
“Damn it, who dares ruin my good time?”
Enraged by the intrusion into his private room, Sima Liang jumped up abruptly, grabbed a wine glass from the table, and hurled it fiercely towards the doorway.
*Bang!*
The wine glass missed Li Se completely, smashing against the door behind him. The glass shattered, and the red wine spilled onto the floor.
Without a word, Li Se, holding Fang Tiancheng, approached Sima Liang in a few steps and delivered a heavy kick to his chest.
*Crack!*
The sound of breaking bones.
“Ah!” Sima Liang cried out in pain.
Another kick followed, targeting his groin, and Sima Liang immediately passed out from the agony.
“Don’t… don’t hit me…” Fang Tiancheng’s face turned ashen with fear at the sight. “Xiuxiu, I’m your father, tell him to stop hitting me.”
“You are not fit to be Xiuxiu’s father!” Li Se said coldly, grabbing Fang Tiancheng by the neck and smashing him hard against the glass table.
*Boom!*
The glass table shattered, and Fang Tiancheng’s head was covered in blood, with many shards of glass embedded in his face.
“Ah, Xiuxiu, save me…” Fang Tiancheng cried out in pain, begging for help.
“Li Se, that’s enough,” Fang Xiuxiu finally said, unable to bear it any longer.
*Tap, tap, tap…*
Footsteps approached, and a group of people rushed in. The leader, upon seeing Sima Liang’s unconscious and battered state, roared, “How dare you lay hands on Young Master Sima! Kill him!”
The group swarmed towards Li Se.
Li Se sneered and kicked the ground. The numerous shards of broken glass flew like darts, embedding themselves into the foremost attackers.
“Ah…” Cries of agony and streams of blood followed.
Li Se then surged into the crowd. Despite their numbers, the small room offered no advantage to the attackers; the more people there were, the more disadvantageous it became.
Within five minutes, all of them lay on the ground, moaning in pain.
After dealing with the group, Li Se cast a cold glance at Fang Tiancheng before pulling Fang Xiuxiu and leaving the club.
Fang Xiuxiu remained silent the entire way, a burden that would have been unbearable for most.
“Are you alright?” Li Se asked.
“I’m fine,” Fang Xiuxiu replied, her mood deeply somber, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I’ll be here for you from now on,” Li Se said softly, holding her hand to comfort her. He knew Fang Xiuxiu was going through immense pain, feeling despair after being sold by her own father.
“Mm.” Fang Xiuxiu sobbed and rested her head on Li Se’s shoulder as he drove.
“Let me take you out to relax,” Li Se suggested, driving to a large park filled with greenery and people exercising.
After parking the car, Li Se and Fang Xiuxiu strolled through the park.
“I thought my dad was just a gambler and would sometimes hit me, but I never imagined he’d sell me for a million…” Fang Xiuxiu recounted her past.
Li Se’s heart ached, and he pulled her into his embrace. He found this girl truly pitiful. “From now on, I will always protect you and ensure you never get hurt again. Let the past be the past. I won’t let Fang Tiancheng appear before you again.”
As he spoke, a fierce glint flashed in his eyes.
While comforting Fang Xiuxiu, Li Se had already sent a text message to Zhao Ba.
“Thank you,” Fang Xiuxiu said gratefully, relieved to have Li Se by her side, unsure of what she would have done otherwise.
“Why thank me?” Li Se gently tapped her nose, a look of adoration on his face.
“Is there a doctor? Save my wife…”
Just then, a loud shout echoed.
Li Se didn’t hesitate and immediately moved towards the source of the sound. Soon, he saw a pregnant woman lying on the ground, convulsing, with blood flowing from her legs.
At a single glance, Li Se knew she was having a miscarriage, and with it, a high probability of losing both mother and child.
“Who is a doctor? Save my wife…” the man continued to cry out in desperation.
“I am a doctor!”
Before Li Se could even step forward, a middle-aged man emerged, flashing his identification. “I am Liu Dawei, a doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology at Ren’ai Hospital.”
“Doctor Liu, please save my wife…” the man pleaded.
Liu Dawei nodded, knelt, and examined the pregnant woman, performing some basic emergency procedures. However, he soon shook his head. “There’s nothing more I can do. You have only one choice now: save the mother or the child.”
“My child… can’t be saved?” the man stammered.
Liu Dawei replied, “The miscarriage is unavoidable. If this continues, it could result in the death of both. All I can do is try to save one.”
“Of course, save…” the man began to say without hesitation.
But at that moment, a middle-aged woman, over fifty, pushed through the crowd. She shrieked, “Of course, save the child!”
“Mom, we can have another child if this one is lost!” the man said.
The older woman ignored him. “You tried for so long to have this pregnancy. If you save the mother, can you still have children in the future? Don’t think I don’t know your wife’s physical condition. She might not be able to conceive again. Doctor Liu, am I right?”
Liu Dawei nodded slightly. “Indeed, your wife’s constitution is on the colder side. If she loses this child, she may not be able to conceive again in the future.”
However, the man remained resolute. “I am the husband, and I say save the mother!”
The older woman berated him, “Do you want our family line to end? I will not allow my grandson to be harmed like this. We must save the child!”
Many people were gathered around, and most naturally thought the mother should be saved. However, it was a difficult matter for them to voice their opinions, only feeling pity for the pregnant woman having such a mother-in-law.
“Mom, I know you’ve always been dissatisfied with Xuanxuan, but today, no matter what, we must save her!” the man stated with firm conviction.
“You, you, you…” The older woman trembled with anger. “If you dare to save the mother today, I’ll die to show you!”
“Mom, why are you forcing me?” the man’s face contorted with pain.
“I don’t care, my grandson must be saved!” The older woman’s stance was equally resolute, threatening to die if the man chose to save the mother.
“Have you decided? Save the mother or the child?” Liu Dawei frowned, his patience wearing thin. “If we waste any more time, neither can be saved. Furthermore, whether you save the mother or the child, there’s no guarantee of success. It’s at most sixty percent!”
“Save the child, I say!” the older woman declared.
“No, save the mother!” the man retorted.
“I can save both!”
A voice rang out from the crowd. It was Li Se, stepping forward.
