Chapter 345: Chapter 345 Act Coquettishly

Gu Jiahui looked down at his toes, showing a faint, almost imperceptible bitter smile: "If you’ve had enough sleep, how about we go grab something to eat and watch a movie later?"

Sheng Tang wasn’t very sleepy anymore.

She took out her phone and glanced at it. It was already nine in the morning.

That meant she had slept in Gu Jiahui’s car for at least two and a half hours.

From Yan Jin’s house to Sheng Tang’s neighborhood was only an hour’s drive.

"If you have something to say, just say it," Sheng Tang said.

Gu Jiahui: "Is it not okay to ask you out to play for no reason?"

"You’re trying to woo Yang Mingming, dude. How can you catch her if you’re so half-hearted?"

Gu Jiahui laughed heartily: "She’s not my girlfriend, she can’t control me. It’s just right if she sees it and gets a bit jealous."

"I don’t want to help you create enmity."

"Are you afraid Gu Shiting will find out that you’re fishing for him?" Gu Jiahui teased sarcastically.

Sheng Tang openly admitted: "Yes."

Gu Jiahui: "..."

He was silent for a moment, then a little mischievous smile appeared at the corner of his eye: "You can fish for me too. If one night you suddenly want to take a walk by the sea or stargaze in the desert, I can go with you. Gu Shiting can’t."

"Forget it," Sheng Tang said disdainfully, "Have some self-awareness. Think about it yourself, in what way are you any better than Gu Shiting? Just because you’re not afraid of the dark?"

Gu Jiahui: "...."

His face darkened slightly.

Sheng Tang yawned: "Looking at you, it seems like you’ve come to make fun of me."

She took her backpack and turned to walk towards home.

After taking a few steps, Sheng Tang looked back and gave Gu Jiahui a light smile: "No need to pay for the ride, right?"

The early morning golden sunlight outlined her face with a golden edge. A strand of her hair fell partly on her cheek, fluttering in the wind like threads in the spring breeze.

With her back to the light, her eyes were indistinct. Yet at that moment, her expression seemed radiant.

Gu Jiahui quietly watched her, his eyes suddenly feeling a bit hot.

Why he felt this way, he didn’t quite understand. He just felt a sense of grievance, and only after watching her take a few steps and look back again did he feel somewhat appeased.

Maybe, he was touched.

Thank you for looking back at me after you walked away. Besides you, no one else would care about me like this.

"No need." Gu Jiahui took a deep breath, his voice unprecedentedly sincere, "Go home and catch up on sleep."

Sheng Tang walked home by herself.

Her parents were both home.

Seeing her return, her father took her backpack and smiled: "Had fun last night?"

"It was okay, just tired."

"It’s vacation time, you can sleep for three days and nights, it’s rare to get a break," her father said.

Sheng Tang hugged her father, feeling lucky to have such understanding parents.

Her father smiled: "Still acting spoiled! Let go, let go, my back is killing me!"

Her mother laughed from behind.

Sheng Tang was too tired, and her grandma told her to have a bowl of millet porridge before going to sleep, but she shook her head, saying she’d already eaten.

She went back to her room, got slightly lost in thought for a moment, then turned over and fell back into a deep sleep.

Sheng Tang slept all the way until noon before waking up.

After taking a shower, she was drying her hair while standing at the kitchen door, chatting with her mother and grandmother who were making dumplings inside.

"They are too wild; I wanted to leave for a long time but couldn’t get away," Sheng Tang said.

Her mother said: "Your phone, charging outside, keeps beeping now and then."

Sheng Tang threw down the towel she was using to dry her hair and went to check her phone.

Her mother reminded her from behind: "Dry your hair properly before you play with your phone. You’ll catch a cold."

Sheng Tang agreed perfunctorily.
