Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Sheng Tang’s Worries
Mrs. Gu said a lot of polite words.
First, she praised Sheng Tang for being smart, beautiful, and capable; then she said her own son was useless and didn’t know when he would get better.
"In the past half year, he has made rapid progress, all thanks to Tangtang. We hope that during the winter break, with them being together every day, Ting can make even greater progress," Mr. Gu interjected.
Sheng Sidong glanced at Gu Shiting.
Gu Shiting was indeed very well-behaved, gentle and quiet, sitting silently beside them.
Professor Sheng himself wasn’t the type to be slick and worldly-wise, so he didn’t particularly like people who were overly sociable. He viewed Gu Shiting’s aloofness as a rare form of steadiness.
"So we’ll rely on you to take care of Tangtang during the winter break," Fang Mengying said with a smile, "Tangtang is still a child. If she does anything wrong, please do correct her."
"Rest assured, I will treat Tangtang as my own daughter!" Mrs. Gu took Fang Mengying’s hand, "In the future, won’t she be my own daughter?"
Her words were crystal clear.
Professor Sheng and the grandmother exchanged glances.
Mrs. Gu smiled, "Besides, with us watching Ting, he wouldn’t dare bully Tangtang. You can be at ease about that."
Her meaning was, she had already decided on this daughter-in-law, but she wouldn’t allow the two kids to fool around just yet.
Professor Sheng felt a weight lifted off his shoulders.
The grandmother packed a suitcase for Sheng Tang, filling it with her clothes and books.
The Gu couple then invited the whole family out for a meal.
"Another day perhaps, we need to head to the old house later," Professor Sheng said, "There’s some business with the elders, we may not have time today."
"Let’s arrange it for another day then."
Sheng Tang asked, "Dad, what are you doing at the old house?"
"Your grandfather wants to discuss New Year’s ancestral rites with me," Professor Sheng said, "Don’t worry about it."
Sheng Tang wasn’t very reassured, afraid that people over there might bully her father.
The people at the old house were very shrewd, every time they picked on Sheng Sidong, they had women and children do it.
If Sheng Sidong complained, they’d accuse him of being petty; if he didn’t, he’d be angered to death.
"How about I go with you," Sheng Tang said.
Professor Sheng laughed, "You kid, why do you worry about everything? Focus on your own things, don’t worry."
Sheng Tang said nothing more.
She took her luggage and temporarily moved into the Gu Family Villa.
As soon as she left, the Sheng family started talking about the matter.
Mom said, "I have been on edge all the time, but now I can finally relax. Tangtang won’t follow Cheng Ruojun’s old path. The Gu family’s attitude is already very clear."
Back then, Cheng Ruojun was talked about terribly and hardly anyone accepted her. She ended up miserable and her fate was bleak. To this day, she didn’t even know who to hold a grudge against.
The Gu family’s attitude was indeed very clear.
"I always said Tangtang was smart," the grandmother said with a smile, "Mrs. Gu is a good person. If Tangtang has such a mother-in-law in the future, her life will be easy. This child is fortunate."
"It’s still about her own efforts," the father said, "If she weren’t so excellent herself, the Gu family wouldn’t appreciate her like this."
The group nodded in agreement.
Sheng Tang moved to the Gu family and stayed in the guest room on the second floor.
She hadn’t even unpacked her luggage when she received a call from Gu Shiting’s sister.
Miss Gu was overjoyed to hear that Sheng Tang had moved in. This sister-in-law was pretty much a sure thing.
"I’ll be back home the day after tomorrow. I’ll take you all out for a nice meal then!" Gu Shiyan said excitedly, "Or I’ll come back tonight!"
Sheng Tang dampened her enthusiasm, "Even if you come back tonight, we’re not free. Mrs. Gu said we’re having dinner at home tonight."
Gu Shiyan restrained her excitement with effort.
She kept talking on the phone for a long time, asking all sorts of questions, wishing she could come back personally to arrange Sheng Tang’s accommodation.
Gu Shiting walked in to see if Sheng Tang had finished unpacking. Seeing her still on the phone, he asked quietly who it was.
"Your sister," Sheng Tang mouthed to him.
Gu Shiting quickly took the phone, "You’re too noisy."
He hung up the phone.
Sheng Tang imagined Gu Shiyan returning and wanting to pummel him and couldn’t help but laugh.
