Chapter 376: Chapter 376: Young Master Gu Shops for Groceries
Gu Shiting got up and poured Sheng Tang a cup of hot water.
Her icy cold hands melted into the warmth, making her feel comfortable.
"...Are you hungry? There are still some dumplings left for dinner, shall I cook you a bowl?" Gu Shiting asked.
He was waiting for her on purpose.
Coming back alone to a cold and empty house, wouldn’t that be too desolate?
"I’m not hungry," Sheng Tang replied, "I ate quite a bit tonight, besides, I’m on a diet."
Seeing the time approaching midnight, she urged him, "Go to sleep now, it’s very late."
Gu Shiting: "Are you scared? I’ll wait until you’ve finished your ablutions before going to bed."
"You’re so naggy," Sheng Tang couldn’t help but laugh, "I’m a grown-up, why would I be scared? This is my own house. If it were at your place, I might be a bit scared because your house is big and empty."
Gu Shiting gently touched her hair.
He also felt this apartment was great.
He hadn’t lived in one before, but the cozy and warm feeling of the small room was something a luxury villa couldn’t compare to.
Gu Shiting occasionally thought about the future.
In the future, he could stay at the university to teach, buy a hundred-square-meter apartment near the school, raise a cat, have two children, and live a simple life with Sheng Tang.
"In the future, we’ll also buy a house like this!" Gu Shiting blurted out.
Sheng Tang laughed: "Young Master, you’ll get sick of it in three days. It’s hard to go from extravagance to simplicity, do you understand?"
Gu Shiting didn’t feel living in a big house was luxurious.
A home with Sheng Tang was true luxury.
"Go to sleep soon, don’t wake them up with your talking," Sheng Tang urged again.
Gu Shiting had no choice but to return to his room.
He didn’t sleep, keeping an ear out for sounds outside.
He heard Sheng Tang’s occasional movements, implying she had finished washing up, then a light sound as she turned off the living room lights.
Gu Shiting slipped into bed.
The bed was soft, and he soon drifted off to sleep.
The next day, Gu Shiting woke up at six and saw his grandmother in the kitchen making porridge.
After washing up, he asked her, "Do you need help?"
Grandmother: "You woke up so early? It’s cold, they’re all sleeping in."
"I’m used to it."
"I need to buy groceries later, do you want to come?" Grandma asked with a smile.
Thinking of the crowded market, Gu Shiting instinctively shook his head.
Grandmother laughed: "It’s New Year’s, the market vendors have all gone home. We’re going to the supermarket across the way to buy groceries. Early in the morning, near the end of the year, the supermarket will be quiet and empty, you can take a look. Have you ever bought groceries?"
Gu Shiting shook his head again.
"Do you want to go?" Grandma asked again.
Gu Shiting: "Alright."
He obediently put on a down jacket and went out with Grandma.
It was just dawn, the sun slowly peeking out, clear and windless with a solitary chill.
Sure enough, there weren’t many people outside, even in the old city.
The supermarket opened promptly at seven.
When they arrived, the supermarket was just opening its doors. Just as Grandma said, aside from the sleepy cashier, there wasn’t a soul.
Gu Shiting had never been to a supermarket, he was curious, looking around east and west.
Grandma saw this and felt tenderness in her heart, Gu Shiting was indeed a lovable child.
She wanted to let him see more of the outside world, after all, he typically wouldn’t dare to venture into it.
His family surely wouldn’t take him grocery shopping; such mundane chores were far removed from the Young Master.
But it was interesting.
A life lacking these trivial experiences would be so pale!
"Grandma, what is this?" Gu Shiting picked up something and asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"You don’t recognize this?" Grandma laughed.
