Chapter 712: Chapter 412: His Story with Isla Linton 3
The olive-green uniform tends to have a particular allure for many girls, and Isla Linton is no exception.
After the check-up that day, Roman Hughes said that they could arrange for Isla Linton’s mother’s surgery the next day.
Isla Linton didn’t know how much gratitude she felt towards Henry Sullivan; she felt as though she had encountered a patron in life.
Seeing the glimmer in Isla Linton’s eyes as she looked at Henry Sullivan, Roman Hughes chuckled mischievously and gave Henry Sullivan a nudge.
"Buddy, this girl has had it tough, I can’t help but feel sorry for her and really want to invite her for a meal.
But, I have an appointment set up earlier today.
Faye Townsend has roped me into luring Hunter for her. As a good brother, I cannot refuse to help.
So, for the sake of their happiness, I’ll make this sacrifice.
Later, you help me invite Miss Linton for a meal."
Henry Sullivan gave him an unamused look, always the one with a lot of issues.
"Why the frown, man? You’ve got so much money; it’s not like you can take it with you when it overgrows.
Alright, I’m done nagging, I’m off."
Having said that, he patted Henry Sullivan on the shoulder and walked away.
Henry Sullivan said, "Be careful not to let that kid bully Faye."
"Don’t worry, with your backing, he wouldn’t dare," Roman Hughes didn’t turn around but waved his hand and left.
Henry Sullivan turned to look at Isla Linton, who bit her lip, slightly embarrassed: "Doctor Hughes... must have misunderstood our relationship."
"No, he knows I just went through a breakup, so he’s doing it on purpose.
Don’t worry about him, let’s go, I’ll take you to dinner."
"Huh?" Isla Linton was momentarily startled: "Are you really inviting me to dinner?"
"It’s not me inviting you to dinner; it’s Roman Hughes who asked me to invite you on his behalf."
"There’s no need, Henry, I’ve already caused you so much trouble."
After thinking for a moment Henry Sullivan said: "How about I order takeout for you to eat here instead?"
"Let’s go out to eat, it’s not clean inside the hospital," she really thought he was a warm person.
Henry Sullivan gave her a smile and turned to walk out, Isla Linton took her purse and quickly followed.
He took her to a Western restaurant, which Isla Linton was somewhat unaccustomed to.
When the steak arrived, he cut it for her and handed it over: "Eat up, don’t be shy."
Looking at the steak he had cut for her, Isla Linton clenched the corners of her lips, no one had ever been so kind to her before.
As she gazed at the steak without touching it, Henry Sullivan asked, "What’s wrong?"
Her eyes brimming with tears, she looked at him: "Thank you."
"No need, I’ll be rejoining my unit in a week. If anything comes up during this period, just call me.
After I leave, you can turn to Roman Hughes for help.
He’s a kindhearted guy and a good person too."
She nodded, sniffled, but managed to keep the tears from falling.
These past two months, she had truly experienced the cold and warmth of human relationships.
Just a few days ago, she pondered ending it all with a leap from the building.
But now... life indeed seems to be filled with sunshine everywhere.
It’s just that she really didn’t know how to properly express her gratitude to the great benefactor before her.
After the meal, he got up and asked, "Shall I take you back to the hospital now?"
She shook her head, "I need to go back to school first, I have classes this afternoon."
Henry Sullivan was surprised: "You’re still in school?"
She smiled with pursed lips: "I’m a senior at Anchester University, majoring in English."
Henry Sullivan nodded: "Do you need a ride?"
"No need," she really wanted to spend more time with him, but how could she have the nerve to trouble him further: "Just... can I call you later?"
