Chapter 707: Chapter 407: Probably Got a Hole in the Head
Ivy Miller woke up to find the person beside her was gone.
She got up and patted her face. She hadn’t planned to fall asleep, but she guessed she was too angry.
She got out of bed, opened the door, and walked to the small living room. Seeing the lunch and note on the coffee table, she stepped forward and picked up the note.
"I’ve changed the food; heat it up if it’s cold.
Let’s stop this fussing around.
Quarreling only hurts harmony; couples should make up by bedtime.
I’ll be back by four and take you out. Eat first."
Seeing the note, Ivy Miller raised an eyebrow, feeling it wasn’t so bad.
She sat down to eat with a smile. Actually, when she first saw the photo of an unfamiliar woman, she wasn’t angry, just a bit annoyed.
It was his attitude when he came back asking for the photo that infuriated her.
No matter what, she’s his wife; how could he ask his wife for a photo of his ex-girlfriend?
It was clearly disrespectful to her.
Later, when she ran out, she didn’t expect him to come after her.
But, to her surprise, he actually did come out.
This thing could be put behind them, but the only slight regret was, after just four months of marriage, they had their first argument.
Henry Sullivan returned before four to find her lounging with her legs crossed, playing with her phone amidst leftover food on the coffee table.
He frowned and breathed out, holding back his temper, "Finished eating?"
"Mm," she pretended to be disinterested, though she’d already lost her temper long ago.
He said nothing, stepping forward to clear the dishes.
Seeing his diligent demeanor, Ivy Miller retracted her neck slightly and sat up straight.
"Ahem, didn’t you say you’d be back at four? I was going to clean up; it’s just that you came back early."
"In the future, after eating, don’t just lounge here. Go out for a walk to digest. Lying down hurts your stomach."
Ivy Miller laughed lightly.
He frowned and glared at her, "What are you laughing at?"
"Isn’t it true that all you military guys talk about health like that?"
"So what?"
"I feel like you all come from the same mold.
A lot of things you say, my dad says too."
Henry Sullivan’s face darkened slightly, "You’re saying I speak maturely?"
"Not exactly, just... haha, just feels like you’re on the same wavelength.
When I was taking my college entrance exams, my dad insisted I apply to a military academy.
At that time, I thought if I joined the army too, my mom would be too miserable.
She often says, fortunately, the family has only one person in the military; otherwise, how could we live?"
Henry Sullivan curled his lips, "Seems like your mother-in-law doesn’t like military people much."
"No, it’s not that she doesn’t like military people; she just didn’t want me to marry a soldier.
Actually, when I was going on a date with you, my mom didn’t agree at first.
She said marrying a soldier is just too painful.
My dad is an excellent example.
At home, he still has this commanding presence, as if everyone else is just his subordinates.
My mom insisted on introducing me to her new colleague from the school.
It was all set; after meeting you, I’d go see him.
But after meeting you, we ended up getting married before anything else happened.
I guess I must have lost my mind at that time."
Henry Sullivan raised an eyebrow slightly, "Looks like your mother-in-law had a backup plan for you."
"Of course, my parents are always fair. My dad likes military people; my mom likes teachers.
If it weren’t for her colleague being busy with classes when I was meeting you, I might have gone to meet him first."
She said with a mischievous laugh, "Actually, finding a teacher wouldn’t be bad either."
Henry Sullivan gave a sinister smile, utterly disdainful, "Is that so?"
