Chapter 617: Chapter 320: The Sinister Smile in Evie Larkin’s Eyes (Part 3)
By noon the next day, as soon as it was time to leave work, Wendy tidied up the files on her desk.
Seeing her pack up, Jane Quinlan asked puzzledly, "Are you leaving?"
"It’s time to clock out, and I’m not working overtime. I don’t need to stay around and watch you and Director Forrest flaunt your relationship, do I?"
Jane Quinlan raised an eyebrow, "Why do you always talk to me as if you have a grudge against me?"
"No grudge, just genuinely dislike you."
With that, she slung her bag over her shoulder and left.
Jane Quinlan was speechless. It’s quite something to live life so candidly, isn’t it?
Is it necessary to talk to her as if she had slaughtered her whole family?
She felt like she was the type that was inexplicably disliked.
Jane Quinlan pursed her lips and pushed the door into Kay Forrest’s office.
He was leisurely on the phone with Faye Townsend, who had just returned from the Maldives today.
She was asking if they wanted to meet for dinner tonight.
Kay Forrest asked Jane Quinlan, "Honey, Faye wants to take you out for dinner tonight, want to go?"
Jane Quinlan swallowed, "I’m just afraid of spoiling your fun, going out for dinner feels like a torment."
Kay Forrest thought for a moment too, she seemed most comfortable when at home.
"Ms. Faye, today I officially decline your invitation.
Let’s wait a few days until Jane Quinlan isn’t nauseous anymore."
When Faye heard this, she laughed, "That will take at least another month.
By then, it won’t be me treating you, it’ll be you treating me."
"What’s important," Kay Forrest thought, he might not enjoy treating others, but never had any negative feelings about treating Faye Townsend to dinner, okay?
"Forrest, you’ve truly changed, if it was you before.
Even if your girlfriend wasn’t available to go out to eat, you would still definitely go out.
Before, you always laughed at me for being hopelessly devoted to Hunter Warren.
Now you’re the same, aren’t you? Hasn’t that little Jane Quinlan charmed your very soul?"
Kay Forrest looked up at Jane Quinlan, the smile on his face almost reaching his ears.
"Let her bewitch me, I gladly succumb."
"Oh, please, enough, enough, stop babbling to me.
I heard Jane Quinlan’s voice, is she there for something?
You better attend to your young lady, don’t mind me."
"Then let’s hang up," after hanging up, Kay Forrest walked towards Jane Quinlan who was seated on the sofa.
Jane Quinlan said, "Why didn’t you go when Faye invited you to dinner?
I can’t eat, but you can go by yourself.
I can wait for you at home, can’t I?
If it’s really inconvenient for you, I can accompany you; just don’t worry about me while you dine, I’ll have something light.
Faye’s invited you several times, and you haven’t gone out yet."
"It’s okay, she won’t mind.
That kind of person doesn’t know how to get angry, otherwise, would she be going back for seconds?
Oblivious as ever."
Jane Quinlan rolled her eyes at him, "Come on, you’re best friends with that oblivious person, what does that make you then?"
"Oh, sure, girl, you’re exposing me now," Kay Forrest tapped her on the forehead, "Hey, you know, lately every meal time I just feel like not eating."
"Is it that my nausea is making you sick?" Jane Quinlan thought, if he dared to say yes, she’d get up and kick him.
"Not that, I’ve heard some people experience this, when the wife is pregnant and nauseous, the husband feels it too."
Jane Quinlan burst out laughing, "So morning sickness is contagious, huh?"
"You see, you don’t believe it, yet here we are, what are we doing for lunch today? What to eat?"
Jane Quinlan pondered and also felt troubled, "Let’s have something light, I’ve recently given up on meat."
"Gladly decided," chatting is one thing, but meals couldn’t be missed.
Kay Forrest called the hotel to order food, all light and appetizing.
He ate the same things as her.
Couldn’t just let her suffer alone.
It’s the only way he felt a bit better.
Mostly, he just felt sorry for her.
When Wendy arrived at the underground parking, Evie Larkin’s car was parked right by the elevator.
She quickly got into Evie Larkin’s car.
As the car left the parking lot, Evie Larkin said, "Wendy, you don’t have any food restrictions, do you?"
"Nope."
"Then I’ll take you to a new Aloe Restaurant I discovered."
"Aloe Restaurant?"
"Yeah, everything there is made with aloe, even the juices are made with it. I’ve been there several times, the taste is pretty good."
Wendy remained silent, which was as good as agreeing.
She had something to discuss today, what they ate wasn’t important.
The restaurant wasn’t close to the company, but thankfully it wasn’t a busy time with traffic.
