Chapter 752: Chapter 452: Why Make Things Difficult for Ivy?

Henry Sullivan took a step back from his mother and walked over to Ivy Miller, naturally wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

Henry’s mom gave Ivy a cold look, and Ivy giggled, "Mom, we’re back. Here’s some supplements we bought for you and Dad."

She obediently handed over a few gift boxes.

Henry’s mom glanced at one of the housemaids, who hurriedly went to take the gift boxes.

Henry pulled her into the living room, where Henry’s dad was sitting properly on the sofa.

Ivy approached and greeted him, "Dad, I’m here to see you."

Henry’s dad nodded and smiled at Ivy, "Ivy’s here, huh."

"Yes, has your health been good lately?"

"I’m quite well, don’t worry. Come, sit down and have a cup of tea."

Henry’s face was tense, "Dad."

"Let’s sit together."

Ivy genuinely felt that Henry seemed like an outsider in this family.

Henry’s dad wasn’t the least bit warm toward her, while Henry’s mom busied herself serving him tea with a flattering smile.

But Henry didn’t seem to appreciate it, and she was bustling around until finally Henry’s dad couldn’t stand it anymore.

"What are you doing, wandering around making everyone dizzy.

Either sit down or go to the kitchen to see if the aunties have finished cooking."

Henry’s mom gave Henry’s dad a cold look, "Our son rarely comes home, can’t I happily enjoy looking at my happy son?"

"You’re happy, but can’t you see your son looks like he’s facing execution," Henry’s dad said with displeasure, "If he doesn’t want to come back, then don’t. Since he’s entered this house, he should stop looking so put upon."

Henry raised an eyebrow, "If that’s the case, then Ivy and I won’t stay for dinner."

Henry’s dad slammed the table, "If you want to leave, leave yourself. Can you just take away my daughter-in-law when she comes home for a meal?"

"She is my wife, and I have the right to take her away."

Henry’s unwavering stance made Ivy very anxious.

This man, doesn’t he realize how difficult it is for her to be caught in the middle?

Henry’s mom frowned, "Enough, you two are like this the moment you meet, what’s the point?

Can’t you just talk calmly for a bit?

How about this, Ivy, you come to the kitchen to help me, let the father and son sit together for a while."

"Oh, okay," Ivy stood up a bit dismayed.

She glanced at Henry before heading to the kitchen with his mom.

In the kitchen, Henry’s mom was displeased, "Didn’t you see them arguing just now?"

Ivy’s mind raced; does this mean she should have done something?

Was she blaming her for not stepping in to stop it?

Oh dear, this prospective mother-in-law is so hard to read.

Still, Ivy chuckled, "Mom, where in the world are there fathers and sons who never argue at all?

I can see the concern in Dad’s eyes when he looks at Henry.

It’s just that their way of interacting is a bit special."

"What do you know? As Henry’s wife, you must always use your nature to mediate their relationship. Otherwise, why did we welcome a daughter-in-law like you into the family?"

Ivy pouted. As Henry’s dad’s wife and Henry’s mother, even she couldn’t coordinate their relationship, yet she was blaming Ivy. It’s really... so unpleasant.

In her displeasure, Henry’s voice came from the doorway, "Why make things difficult for Ivy on something you can’t achieve yourself?"
