Chapter 24 Fiancée

Lan Qianqian walked briskly into the design department after stepping out of the elevator.

“Did you hear? Miss Ji is coming to work at the Xuan Corporation.”

“Miss Ji? Which Miss Ji?” someone nearby asked, quite confused.

“Who else could it be but the one from the President’s family?”

“You mean Miss Ji Anlan?”

“Of course! Miss Ji is President Xuan’s fiancée. She’s just been appointed as a director, so it’s likely that good news isn’t far off.”

“Fiancée? How come we didn’t know?”

“It’s normal that you don’t know. I have a relative who has worked at the Xuan family’s old manor for many years, and they said that bringing Miss Ji back was for the President to marry as a child bride.”

“They are a perfect match, and their relationship over so many years is something an outsider can’t compare to.”

Lan Qianqian, who hadn't been listening to the conversation behind her, turned deathly pale and stumbled towards the restroom.

Splashing cold water onto her face repeatedly, Lan Qianqian still felt a mess inside.

In the mirror, her hair, stuck with water droplets, clung to her face in disarray.

“Drip~” “Drip~”

Her firm belief seemed to have collapsed all at once.

“Child bride.”

“Their relationship over so many years is something an outsider can’t compare to.”

These two sentences appeared in her mind like a curse.

So, if he already had a fiancée, why was he still bothering her life?

Outside the door, Ji Anlan watched Lan Qianqian’s dishevelled state with a mocking smile. She then turned to the few people who had just been talking and said with a look of sincerity,

“Thank you, ladies. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have known what to do.”

“Miss Ji, please don’t be afraid. Someone like this mistress deserves to be taught a lesson. What’s this today is nothing.”

“Perhaps we should just forget it. Maybe Lan Qianqian didn’t do it intentionally. However, thank you all so much for today. I’ll treat you to a meal another day.” Ji Anlan held their hands, her expression earnest.

“Miss Ji, you don’t need to speak up for her. You are so wonderful, and only you can be worthy of the President.”

Design Department

“Good morning, Director!” A unified voice rang out.

“Hello everyone, I am the newly appointed Director, Ji Anlan. If there’s anything I do poorly, please supervise me together. If you encounter any unsolvable issues in the future, come to me. I will definitely help everyone solve them if I can.”

“Yes, Director.” A round of applause erupted.

“Click~” The door opened.

Looking at Lan Qianqian’s still somewhat pale complexion, Ji Anlan’s lips curved into an extremely faint arc.

“Is this colleague from our design department?” Ji Anlan asked Wang Jiang, the supervisor.

“Director Ji, she is the person in charge of our cooperation with the Xia Corporation project, Lan Qianqian,”

Wang Jiang stated, adjusting his glasses.

“Qianqian, since you are not a colleague of this department, please take a seat over there.”

Upon hearing this, those who had arrived on time or even early felt a bit uncomfortable.

However, she wasn't actually from their company, so they couldn't say anything.

“Oh, right. Since Qianqian, you are in charge of this jewelry design, you must have excellent talent. We can communicate more in the future.”

Ji Anlan said in a friendly manner.

So she was Ji Anlan, the child bride of the Xuan Corporation. She was indeed beautiful and looked very noble. Compared to her, Lan Qianqian felt rather unpresentable.

So, what was this all about? In that moment, Lan Qianqian had to admit that she felt like a mistress and couldn't hold her head up at all.

“There’s no need for communication. I will have to ask for Director Ji’s guidance in the future,”

Lan Qianqian said with a forced smile.

Thus, the heads for the cooperation between Xia Corporation and Xuan Corporation’s jewelry were changed to: Lan Qianqian, Ji Anlan.

The morning passed in a daze for Lan Qianqian. As noon approached, Xuan Mohan sent a message:

Have lunch in my office. I’ve already asked the assistant to order food. Hmm?

Upon seeing the message, Lan Qianqian found it laughable. Both she and his fiancée were in his company, and he was asking her to have lunch in his office?

“I still have some drafts to finish. I’ll have a colleague from here bring me lunch.”

Still working? Xuan Mohan frowned. “Don’t overwork yourself. Eat first.”

Putting down his phone, he immediately called Li An.

“Take the food to Lan Qianqian. Remind her to eat it while it’s hot.”

“Yes, President.” A couple in love, aren’t they.

At this moment, everyone else had gone to lunch, leaving only Lan Qianqian at her seat.

After Li An entered, he bowed and said with a smile, “Miss Lan, the President asked me to bring you lunch.”

Seeing Lan Qianqian spacing out, Li An called out again, “Miss Lan!”

“Oh? Assistant Li, why are you here?” Lan Qianqian asked faintly after regaining her senses.

She didn’t want to see him or anyone close to him right now.

“Miss Lan, the President specifically asked me to deliver this meal and to remind you to eat it while it’s hot.” Saying this, he handed the lunchbox to Lan Qianqian.

Lan Qianqian looked at it for a few seconds, then took the lunchbox. “Okay, I understand.”

“Then I’ll be going now. Miss Lan, please enjoy your meal.” Li An, turning away, found it strange. Miss Lan seemed a bit distant?

Perhaps he was overthinking. The President and Miss Lan were being very affectionate this morning, don’t assume he didn’t see it at work.

Perhaps it was just a bottleneck in her design.

After Li An left, Lan Qianqian stared at the lunchbox for a long time before finally throwing it into the trash can.

Li Ai, who returned first, found it strange. She had been very quick today, but she hadn’t expected Lan Qianqian to be back already.

“Qianqian, didn’t you go for lunch?”

“No, I ate a bit too much this morning and I’m not hungry now,” Lan Qianqian said with a smile at Li Ai.

“Then if you’re hungry, just tell me. I have plenty of snacks,” Li Ai said heartily, patting her chest.

“Okay.” Feeling Li Ai’s sincerity, Lan Qianqian felt a warmth in her heart.
