Chapter 761: Chapter 761 [Extra] Pity Him or Feel Sorry for Him
Xu Weiran said, "One box of tea leaves is naturally not enough. I’ll take care of all the tea leaves he might need in the future. Besides tea leaves, whatever else he likes, as long as I can manage it, I’ll make sure everything is prepared for him."
"That sounds quite sincere, alright, next time I’ll ask for you." His grandpa certainly doesn’t lack that bit of tea, but seeing his filial piety, the old man should be pleased!
Whether Grandpa was pleased or not, Sheng Ning’an didn’t know, because she didn’t see him when she returned home in the afternoon. Instead, it was her grandma at home, who, having heard that Xu Weiran had received some fine tea, specifically asked Sheng Ning’an to bring it back. The old lady seemed rather happy.
She spoke of Xu Weiran with a tone even more affectionate than towards her own grandsons, "The child is really considerate, but next time don’t let him splurge so much."
Sheng Ning’an humphed, "What’s a box of tea? He is after your beloved granddaughter. He thinks he can lure you with a bit of tea and snag your treasure? Don’t let his sweet talk fool you."
Her grandma chuckled and said, "You impudent girl, who talks about themselves as a treasure?"
"Am I not?" Sheng Ning’an moved closer and took her grandma’s hand, her expression suggesting she wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Her grandma laughed heartily, "Yes, yes, you are our family’s biggest treasure. Nothing is more important than you."
"That’s more like it!" Sheng Ning’an said, somewhat satisfied.
Her grandma, having no other choice, patted her hand and said, "Stay for dinner tonight. Call Ranran over too, Grandma will cook something delicious for you."
"Okay, I’ll ask him." Sheng Ning’an picked up her phone to call Xu Weiran.
The call connected quickly. Hearing that grandma invited him for dinner, Xu Weiran said, "Please thank grandma for me, but I’m at home now. It’s been a while since I’ve seen my parents, I plan to spend some time with them. I won’t come over today, I’ll visit her another time."
"Are your aunt and uncle back?"
Sheng Ning’an had originally thought that Mr. Xu and Mother Xu would hurry back after hearing that Xu Weiran had injured his hand.
Little did she know, she had overestimated his importance in his parents’ hearts.
The couple had been having fun traveling for over half a month and had not yet appeared.
Sheng Ning’an didn’t know whether to feel sorry for him or pity him.
"Yes, I heard they arrived home a couple of days ago; I just found out." If he hadn’t decided to visit home on a whim, he wouldn’t have known they were back.
"Then I’ll come over!" Sheng Ning’an quickly made a decision, "I’ll see your parents and pay them a New Year’s visit, though it’s a bit late. I’ve also missed your father’s cooking; it’s a good chance to try his new dishes!"
The accident had happened because Xu Weiran was coming to see her, so he certainly owed his parents an explanation in person.
"Okay, then I’ll let them know. Be careful on the road," Xu Weiran cautioned.
"I know!"
Sheng Ning’an then turned to her grandma and said, "Grandma, I won’t be eating at home tonight. Xu Weiran’s parents just came back from a trip, and I need to visit them. You can save those delicious dishes for tomorrow."
"Go on, go on!" Her grandma was easy to persuade and reminded her granddaughter, "You should go visit, and take something with you, don’t go empty-handed."
"Got it!"
Her grandma added, "We have things at home; no need to buy anything, I’ll get it for you."
"Thank you, Grandma!"
Sheng Ning’an knew she was far from her grandma in understanding social etiquette; whatever her grandma prepared would certainly be perfect.
