Chapter 394 - 373: You... not able there?

Chapter 394: Chapter 373: You... not able there?

Lao Chen’s mouth was open, but he could no longer make a sound. Xiao Lin darted to the left of Lao Chen like an arrow, the wind carrying a burnt smell. The silenced bullet was still at Lao Chen’s temple, and his hand tightly gripped those five yuan bills, his wide eyes truly unable to find peace in death.

The shadow moved quickly. By the time Xiao Lin felt the shooting position, the person was already gone. He jumped onto the nearest building, climbing up an advertisement lightbox, realizing that he had been too careless.

A shadow slipped into a bar, and Xiao Lin looked up at the sign overhead before jumping down from the lightbox.

"You again?" The bartender looked at Xiao Lin with a somewhat complex expression.

"The same as before, I’ll be back for it later." Xiao Lin glanced around; it was already close to 2 AM, yet there were still quite a few people in the bar, though it seemed much quieter, as if the commotion had died down.

"Looking for someone?" The bartender wiped a glass with a clean cloth, making sure no fingerprints or marks were left on the crystal. It was his habit.

"No!"

His eyes roamed over each person, analyzing their actions and expressions. He was certain the shadow had entered Miyako; the overly dim lighting provided a perfect cover, any corner could become his sanctuary.

"Are you a cop?" The flawlessly wiped crystal glass was placed on the rack above, gleaming even under the faint light.

Xiao Lin shook his head, feeling less anxious upon entering the bar.

"Want a drink now?" With new customers ordering, the bartender skillfully mixed drinks using his familiar techniques and exquisite artistry.

"Later." Xiao Lin dashed out the back door, the chefs from various places had dispersed, leaving the lonely, cold alley abandoned. Slowing his pace, he walked on the cobblestone road he had just passed...

The ringing was like a death knell, constantly sounding in the quiet room. Wu Shuang irritably stretched her hand out, fumbling for her phone in the dark. She couldn’t be bothered to turn on the light, squinting at the LCD screen for a full minute before answering the call: "Dr. Xiao, you better have a good excuse, or you’ll end up in a bad place."

If Lin Zhifang hadn’t instructed her to answer this man’s calls at any time, repeatedly emphasizing and stressing it many times, she would have ignored him. But now it was only 2:11 AM, and she felt an impulse to grab a gun and blow that damn bastard’s head off.

On Financial Street, several police cars were parked outside the shopping mall. Wu Shuang, wearing gloves, stepped out of the car. True to her name, she appeared cold as ice, her face darkened with displeasure, scanning the area for Xiao Lin’s figure. Just then, her phone rang with the death knell tone again. "Where are you?"

It was truly an unfriendly tone. Xiao Lin sighed helplessly, dragging the criminal on the ground: "Miyako’s back alley, I have the perpetrator."

Wu Shuang hung up immediately and left the scene to her subordinates, walking into the bar.

"Where’s the back door?" The bartender pointed to a door on Wu Shuang’s right. Due to the arrival of the police cars, the bar turned lively again, many rushing outside to catch the commotion.

"Oh, here you are!" Seeing Wu Shuang, Xiao Lin raised his hand in greeting: "I’ll leave this person to you. The poison is still inside his teeth, get a doctor to remove it."

"Hey!" Wu Shuang took the person Xiao Lin tossed over, the limp body draping over her. The still-unconscious perpetrator was thrown to the ground by her.

"It’s cold outside, need to take a statement, let’s talk inside." After exerting himself, Xiao Lin felt even colder. He didn’t mind becoming a corpse under Wu Shuang’s glare; rather than shivering with her in the winter chill, he’d rather be stared to death.

Xiao Lin took off his coat, standing by the heating pipe for a moment. Wu Shuang carried the perpetrator in from behind, tossing him beside Xiao Lin, then called her subordinates to take the man.

"Hey, what should this lovely lady drink?" Xiao Lin wasn’t surprised by Wu Shuang’s roughness. In his mind, anything this woman did was within the realm of normal understanding.

Shaking the purple liquid in the crystal glass, the spiciness entered Xiao Lin’s brain through his visual nerves before even tasting it. His pupils were pitch black.

A milky white liquid was soon placed before Wu Shuang, containing fibrous material. Its faint fragrance contrasted with the purple drink in front of Xiao Lin.

"Isn’t there a mistake!" Xiao Lin voiced his disagreement; it didn’t match his expectations. It should be red or black, but definitely not white.

"Virgin’s color." The bartender smiled lightly, and only then did Xiao Lin notice that this bartender wasn’t a bad-looking person either.

"Bastard, what did you say?"

The first to react was Wu Shuang. She stepped on a high stool, trying to pull the bartender out of the bar, but the bartender nimbly took two steps back, making it a pity for those fine crystal glasses, shattered all over the floor.

"The color of purity?" Xiao Lin playfully repeated the bartender’s words, his gaze falling on Wu Shuang. Tilting his head, he thought, it’s not impossible, who would dare want such a fierce woman!

"Look again, and I’ll gouge your eyes out." Wu Shuang sat down heavily on the high stool, a blush starting to spread from her ears.

"So fierce, be careful, you might really end up unmarried." Xiao Lin daringly teased, pulling the tiger’s whiskers at the lion’s den. He found it quite amusing to play with a fiery woman on such a night, having this police officer around wasn’t so boring after all.

An elbow came over, and Xiao Lin deliberately let her hit him squarely. Clutching his abdomen, he let out a painful groan, after taking advantage of the girl, he had to let her vent a little.

"Alright, let’s talk business." Xiao Lin blocked Wu Shuang’s second round of attacks: "Is there a quiet place?"

"No one on the second floor!"

After two in the morning, the slow dance at Miyako ended, leaving only the fast dance area open on the first floor for the remaining two hours. Nodding towards the bartender, Xiao Lin lifted his glass and led Wu Shuang to the second floor.

"To the private room or the lobby?" Xiao Lin turned his head to ask Wu Shuang, seemingly unaware that holding her hand was anything unusual.

"Whatever!" Wu Shuang’s voice was laced with embarrassment. She wanted to shake off that warm big hand, yet felt a bit reluctant. Overall, her mind was a mess, her heartbeat like a young girl in love.

"Not the private room, it’s warmer there."

"The lobby, fine!"

This woman always seems to like contradicting me. Realizing this, it would be much simpler for Xiao Lin to make the decisions himself. He took an ashtray from the bar, turned on the lights in the room, adjusted the heat, and hung his coat on the rack.

"The person who died on Financial Street was called Lao Chen, a drug dealer in this area." Xiao Lin lit a cigarette, going straight to the point, while Wu Shuang didn’t continue to dwell on their previous actions.

"Why are you here?"

Since someone died, the bureau would definitely investigate. She just felt that wherever this man appeared, death followed, linking all sorts of thoughts, and if the chief wasn’t backing him, he’d be in the station hundreds of times without a doubt, all for murder cases. Such coincidences were far too coincidental.

"I came looking for this person."

"A college doctor in the middle of the night at a bar, looking for an old man to buy medicine?" Wu Shuang raised an eyebrow, using her beautiful big eyes to look Xiao Lin up and down, finally resting on the middle section between his legs: "You... there... not working?"

Xiao Lin choked on the smoke he inhaled, coughing which only deepened Wu Shuang’s suspicions.

"If that’s the case, shouldn’t you go to a hospital? Ah, you are a doctor yourself, your skills are so advanced, yet you can’t cure yourself?" She couldn’t help but worry for Xia Xue’s intimate life.

"Miss, would you like to try my skills?" Xiao Lin stopped coughing, raising one eyebrow. His male dignity had repeatedly been trampled by this woman: "There’s no one here, anyway."

Wu Shuang’s right leg answered his question well, however, Xiao Lin did not let Wu Shuang off, directly catching her ankle with one hand, pulling her along in the same direction, causing Wu Shuang to tumble from the sofa onto his chest.

Not expecting Xiao Lin to be so forceful, Wu Shuang’s heart pounded, her cheeks burning, her rosy lips slightly parted in front of Xiao Lin’s, her eyes shimmering with a watery light. Momentarily lost, Xiao Lin couldn’t resist kissing her because it was too tempting.

Just a simple light kiss, soft lips touched and then quickly released. "What are you doing to me?" An angry shout echoed in the room, Wu Shuang pushed Xiao Lin away, stood stunned for half a second, then dashed out of the room.

"I..."

"Nine o’clock, I must see you at the police station." Wu Shuang suddenly returned to the room, coldly addressing Xiao Lin.

"Got it!" He felt like he should say something to Wu Shuang, but didn’t know how to start. It had been spontaneous, yet he received a response from her reactions, but since that’s the case, why be angry?
