"Fairy Law"

Drake had indeed underestimated Laxus. Laxus’s growth had exceeded his expectations, especially that lightning attack, which clearly demonstrated the transformation in Laxus’s magical power.

It had to be said, befitting a member of the main cast, he had achieved such tremendous growth in such a short time.

But now, Drake had become serious, his fighting spirit blazing intensely.

"[Fire Dragon’s Wing Attack!]"

Drake swung his arm, instantly creating a sea of fire. Before the flames even reached Laxus, the intense heat forced him to squint his eyes.

"[Lightning Dragon’s Jaws!]"

A monstrous being of pure lightning opened its maw, instantly devouring a large portion of the fiery inferno.

Laxus charged through the flames, his lightning-enveloped fist hurtling towards Drake with incredible speed.

"[Mana Zone—Dragon’s Nest!]"

Drake unleashed his magic territory, and Laxus felt as if he could see a colossal fire dragon coiled behind Drake, roaring its defiance.

The lightning-attribute magic instantly lost control, and even the dragon scales covering Laxus’s body showed signs of fracturing.

"I’m a... Dragon Slayer too!"

Laxus roared, forcibly suppressing the rampaging magic, continuing his ferocious assault on Drake.

But Drake’s counterattack landed; Fire Dragon’s Hook Claw swiftly intercepted Laxus’s punch, and with a powerful follow-up strike, Drake sent Laxus flying backward.

"[Lightning Dragon’s Heeavenward Halberd!]"

One after another, lightning halberds materialized in Laxus’s hands, each one hurled at Drake with devastating force.

Unlike the previous halberds, which had combined to form a lightning cage, these new halberds possessed the destructive power of bombs.

It seemed that in addition to a significant increase in magical power, Laxus had also made considerable progress in his mastery of magical techniques.

Drake moved in a zigzag pattern across the ground, skillfully evading the incoming halberds, which were hurtling towards him like guided missiles.

Laxus’s attacks were simply unable to keep pace with the ghost-like speed of Drake, who relentlessly closed the distance between them.

"[Lightning Dragon’s Roar!]"

With no other option, Laxus resorted to this immensely powerful technique in a desperate attempt to force Drake to retreat.

This particular spell was exceptionally draining on magical energy, and under the influence of Drake’s magic territory, the consumption was even more severe.

Laxus was well aware that the current situation was heavily stacked against him.

While formulating his plan, Laxus had considered the possibility of Drake’s return, but in his arrogance, he had believed that his rigorous training had allowed him to surpass Drake in strength.

However, the reality was that the gap between their abilities was far greater than he had ever imagined.

This realization only served to further inflame Laxus’s rage.

As is well known, for Dragon Slayers, emotions serve as potent catalysts, and rage is the most immediate and potent of these emotions.

Fueled by his intense fury, the dragon-like characteristics of Laxus’s transformation became even more pronounced; his scales became sharper and more defined, and his pupils transformed into the vertical slits characteristic of a dragon.

Drake, of course, noticed the significant shift in Laxus’s state. He spoke, his voice calm yet laced with a hint of understanding, "Even now, you cannot recognize your true feelings; you can only grow stronger by relying on your rage?

But Laxus, there are limits to what rage can achieve, especially when compared to truly important things!"

"Shut up!"

Laxus, completely deaf to Drake’s words, his body crackling with unrestrained lightning, launched another furious assault.

"It seems I have no choice but to knock some sense into you."

Drake charged forward, meeting Laxus’s attack with a powerful punch.

Their arms intertwined, their fists colliding with a deafening impact; each landed a blow on the other’s face.

Drake, bearing the full force of Laxus’s punch, let out a slight smile.

The punches of someone still lost in confusion are light as a feather. Who do you think you can defeat with such weak blows?

To Laxus’s utter astonishment, the flames engulfing Drake’s body intensified to an almost unbearable degree, and an overwhelming force emanated from Drake’s fist, a force that Laxus found himself completely unable to resist.

Laxus was sent spinning through the air, crashing into a row of chairs before becoming embedded in the cathedral wall.

"Impossible! The difference in our strength... it can’t possibly be this great!"

Laxus, still somewhat dazed, pulled himself free from the wall, his voice filled with disbelief and confusion.

Drake shook his head, his expression conveying a mixture of pity and disappointment. "I’ve told you countless times already; it’s not simply a matter of raw power."

"Stop lecturing me!!!"

Laxus crouched low to the ground, a yellow magic circle forming beneath him.

Drake mirrored his stance, crouching down to his level. "It seems that words are ineffective; it’s time to resort to a more direct approach."

With those words, a crimson magic circle materialized before Drake.

"[Lightning Dragon’s...!]" "[Fire Dragon’s...!]"

"[Roar!!!]"

A torrent of lightning and fire erupted from the two magic circles, colliding violently in the center of the cathedral.

...

Erza, having freed herself from the petrification magic and defeated Evergreen, was rushing towards the cathedral with the rest of her team.

Of the Thunder God Tribe’s trio, Freed had been defeated by Mirajane, whose power had been restored, while Bickslow had fallen to Gray. With Evergreen also defeated by Erza, only Laxus remained.

However, as the group approached the Kardia Cathedral, they were met with a spectacular eruption of lightning and fire; the entire cathedral was lifted into the air by the sheer force of the clash between the two opposing elements.

Erza paused for a moment, her first thought being that the guild master was about to explode with rage. The cost of repairing the cathedral alone would likely be enough to trigger a massive heart attack in Makarov.

"Master’s going to have a stroke!"

Erza glanced over her shoulder, realizing that it was Lucy who had voiced her concerns.

And it wasn’t just Lucy; the other members of the team nodded in agreement, their thoughts seemingly aligned.

In truth, none of them truly considered Laxus to be their enemy, but his actions had been far too excessive, and the desire to subdue him was shared by everyone present.

Yet, amidst this tense situation, their thoughts seemed to wander off course, for reasons no one could quite explain.

Erza turned her gaze back towards the fiery inferno that was suppressing the raging lightning, and a sudden understanding dawned upon her.

Although they hadn’t known each other for a very long time, Drake had already proven himself to be a reliable and dependable ally. With such a trustworthy comrade by their side, feeling a sense of ease and confidence was only natural.

Laxus’s face was contorted with barely-concealed rage, and even with his considerable magical power, he was clearly struggling to maintain his position.

Drake, it seemed, possessed an inexhaustible supply of magical energy. His flames completely overwhelmed Laxus’s lightning attacks, ultimately sending him flying backward.

Oddly enough, despite the intense heat of Drake’s ferocious flames, Laxus felt a strange sensation of warmth amidst the pain.

However, this sensation only served to further insult Laxus’s pride.

"You’re holding back! Are you pitying me?!"

Laxus rose to his feet, striking a dramatic pose.

A blinding light erupted from Laxus’s body. With a voice filled with fierce determination, he declared, "I will not be defeated! As long as I have this magic, this magic that stands as a testament to the true strength of Fairy Tail!"

Drake looked directly at Laxus. "You’re right; that magic does indeed represent the true strength of Fairy Tail! Then by all means, unleash it here, and let me witness its power firsthand!"

"Laxus! What are you doing?!"

Erza and the rest of the Fairy Tail team arrived on the scene, instantly recognizing the magic that Laxus was preparing to unleash.

"You pathetic weaklings, along with the inherent weakness of Fairy Tail, shall all be annihilated by this magic! Fairy Law... activate!"

Erza and the others charged towards Laxus, but Drake remained motionless, his expression unchanged... for the outcome was already predetermined.

A blinding flash of light completely robbed everyone of their sight. When their vision finally returned, they all found themselves staring at their own reflections.

"We’re not injured?!"

Amidst the collective bewilderment, Drake sighed wearily. "Fairy Law unleashes a judgment of light upon those whom the user deems to be their enemies."

Natsu tapped his fist against his open palm, a knowing look on his face. "I knew it. That bonehead Laxus never actually considered us to be his enemies!"
