Girls…
Just like Wen Yang before, Zhang Shaoqing had long suspected Ning Chu’s gender.
After all, living under the same roof, the rise and fall of her chest, the faint, distinct scent lingering in the bathroom every month, and Ning Chu’s overly enchanting face—all signs pointed to the fact that Ning Chu was a girl.
But he still couldn’t figure out why she was staying in the boys' dormitory.
It wasn’t until yesterday at noon, when he found that unknown cylindrical package, that he decided to search up the English words online later that night. That was when he finally confirmed Ning Chu’s gender.
She was really a girl.
After months of living together, it turned out that such a beautiful girl had been right under his nose, and he had only just realized it.
This morning, as he walked into the classroom with Wang Jie, his eyes immediately landed on Ning Chu and Wen Yang, who were sitting in the front row.
Now that he knew Ning Chu was a girl, their relationship became quite intriguing.
A couple? But Wen Yang already had a girlfriend named Wen Wen.
Could that girl… also be Ning Chu?
Zhang Shaoqing had never seen Ning Chu dressed as a girl before. Recalling Wen Wen’s appearance, he felt he couldn’t jump to conclusions just yet.
He walked over and plopped down next to Ning Chu.
“This is Xinya and Lily’s seat. Go sit over there with Wen Yang,” Ning Chu glanced at him weakly and said.
“You’ve got some guts~”
“……”
“So, you and Wen Yang must be…” Zhang Shaoqing leaned in with a mischievous smirk. Ning Chu frowned in disgust and leaned back to put more distance between them.
Wen Yang simply reached out, placed a firm hand on Zhang Shaoqing’s shoulder, and said, “Xinya is here. Give up the seat.”
Zhang Shaoqing immediately picked up on the possessiveness in Wen Yang’s tone.
Now he was sure—there was a high chance that Wen Wen was actually Ning Chu!
But there was also the possibility that Wen Yang was two-timing…
Since he had solved his little mystery, he didn’t press further. He got up with a grin. “Alright, alright.”
“Idiot…”
Ning Chu mumbled, then slumped onto the desk, feeling exhausted.
Her hands felt sore.
She didn’t stroke for that long—just over ten minutes—but it was still tiring. Not to mention, the new bedsheet she had just bought was now stained with a sweet scent.
What made it worse was that thanks to him, she felt a little horny too, but she couldn’t bring herself to do anything to her own body, nor did she dare to ask Wen Yang for help. In the end, she had to endure it for over an hour before finally falling asleep.
And her dreams were filled with Wen Yang’s face, to the point where she had to take a shower as soon as she woke up this morning.
“Ning Chu~”
“Morning.”
“You look exhausted. Didn’t sleep well last night?”
Xinya sat down with Lily, looking concerned.
“I guess…”
Ning Chu replied absentmindedly, still thinking about what kind of novel she should write.
Might as well write an autobiography—it’s not like her life wasn’t already ridiculous enough.
She didn’t even have to worry about censorship. In this parallel world, the publishing industry was pretty open-minded. As long as it wasn’t explicit adult content, almost anything could get published.
Even if the novel didn’t perform well, as long as she maintained the daily update requirements, she could earn a stable allowance to help cover rent and living expenses.
The hardest part—writing a few thousand words a day—was actually pretty easy for her, considering she had been doing it for years.
On weekends, she could also work part-time with Wen Yang. Together, they could make an extra 1,000 yuan or so a month, which would help ease her brother’s financial burden.
“Wen Yang, what part-time job are you planning to do this weekend? I want to join.”
“You want to come too?” Wen Yang paused. “I was planning to do food delivery, but I only borrowed one electric bike from a friend.”
“Hmm, then I’ll have to find something else…”
Ning Chu rested her chin on her hand, glancing over at Zhang Shaoqing.
This guy was a big gossip—who knew if he’d take her situation and spread it around as a juicy topic?
But whatever. Let him talk. Once her new ID was ready, her mother would come to school to help update her student records.
With her mind full of novel ideas, the morning classes flew by.
Ning Chu stretched lazily and straightened up, only to see a girl rushing over. From a distance, the girl tossed a pink envelope toward her, and it landed right on Ning Chu.
She was stunned for a moment, instinctively thinking the girl had written her a love letter.
However, when she picked up the envelope and looked at it… hmm… it was addressed to Wen Yang.
"Wen Yang." Ning Chu handed the envelope to him with a face full of disappointment.
She realized she was acting a bit strange. She clearly had a boyfriend, yet if a girl liked her, she would still feel happy.
“What’s this?”
“A love letter~”
"Ah, this..." Wen Yang glanced at Ning Chu cautiously. Only when she nodded did he finally open the envelope. "Who sent this? There’s no name on it."
"Chen Xue."
Ning Chu remembered the girl—they had interacted a little before.
Wen Yang thought for a moment, then shook his head blankly. "Who? I think I’ve heard that name during roll call."
He knew someone by that name was in their class, but he couldn’t match the name to a face.
"The girl who brought you sour plum soup during military training."
"Oh, her..."
The people around them showed no intention of leaving. Ning Chu, Yan Xinya, Zhang Shaoqing, and Wang Jie all gathered around Wen Yang, faces full of curiosity as they craned their necks to see the letter.
Only Lily maintained her composure, standing at a distance with her arms crossed, keeping her usual cold expression. But the way she kept glancing at Wen Yang betrayed her curiosity.
"Ohhh~ Little Yangyang~" Zhang Shaoqing, always one to stir up trouble, teased him. "Isn’t it super cheesy, huh? Little Yangyang?"
"Look at this heart she drew~ Oh! There are even a few chocolates inside the envelope!"
Wen Yang remained expressionless as he quickly skimmed through the letter, then stuffed it into his jacket pocket.
"Come on man~ I’m not even half-way done."
"No need for you guys to see it. Ning Chu, let’s go eat."
"Mm."
He glanced nervously at Ning Chu, but to his surprise, the usually jealous girl was unusually calm today.
Was it because she didn’t see Chen Xue as a threat at all?
The two of them left the classroom together. As they walked, Ning Chu glanced back at Zhang Shaoqing before leaning in closer to Wen Yang.
"What do you plan to do about it?"
"Act like I never received it?"
"That’s not a bad idea…"
If she were still seen as a guy, she might have done the same—just ignored it.
But now, her mindset was shifting toward that of a girl’s. She frowned slightly and suggested, "Find a chance to talk to her directly and make things clear."
"She’s liked you for months. If you just ignore it, she’ll probably keep thinking about you."
Unlike those cliché female supporting characters who would simply give up once the plot was disrupted (with only a few exceptions), Chen Xue was just a normal girl in real life. If Wen Yang chose to ignore her, she might end up secretly liking him all the way until graduation.
"Hmm… I guess that makes sense."
Rejecting girls was something Wen Yang was all too familiar with.
But he was a little curious and asked, "How come you’re not jealous this time?"
"When have I ever been jealous?"
Wen Yang chuckled, nodding knowingly.
