Chapter 229 The Republic of China Literary Giant's White Moonlight (15)

"Boss?"

Uncle Qian was examining the injuries of the person lying on the ground when he heard his boss speak.

He looked at the person on the ground again. Besides scratches from falling, he also had burns and whip marks. It looked like he had been tortured. And these were only the visible injuries; there might be others.

Did Boss really want to get involved in this mess? Uncle Qian turned to look at Lin Yan, utterly perplexed.

"Bring the person into the car, then clean up the traces here, and we'll go back another way," Lin Yan instructed directly, opening her door to get out.

"Boss, please don't get out. Let me handle it," Uncle Qian quickly stopped her when he saw Lin Yan about to get out.

"Put him in the back seat, and I'll sit in the front." Lin Yan did get out, but she didn't help lift the person lying on the ground.

After getting out, Lin Yan clearly saw the person lying on the ground. Indeed, it was someone she had met before. She had seen this person in her father's study. However, at that time, he had been disguised.

Although she didn't know what he had gone through, she couldn't just leave him to die.

After Uncle Qian helped the person into the back seat, Lin Yan sat in the front.

Once Uncle Qian had cleaned up the traces, he got into the car and they drove back to Lin Mansion from another direction.

The long-lost tranquility in his ears and the comfortable feeling in his body made him think he had arrived in paradise.

Of course, as a materialist, he didn't believe in the existence of any so-called paradise. He immediately opened his eyes.

What greeted him was a white ceiling with a beautiful crystal chandelier hanging from it. He was sinking into soft bedding, and the quilt carried the scent of sunshine.

He struggled to get up and felt that his wounds had been bandaged. However, as he tried to sit up, some of the wounds seemed to have reopened.

He looked around the room. This should be a guest room in a Western-style house. Had he been saved? He wondered.

By whom? Could he bring danger to others?

The sound of a door opening made him immediately look towards the entrance.

"You're awake. Then, eat something first." Lin Yan walked in and placed the bowl of congee she was carrying on the table.

"Did you save me?" He looked at the woman in a Western-style dress before him.

She was probably around twenty years old and very beautiful, certainly more so than the famous beauties he had seen.

Especially since, despite her approachable appearance, she possessed an air of superiority that made one dare not offend her.

This was unlike any woman he had encountered. Although women were more liberated now than before.

However, after so many years of suppression, even with women awakening, the innate tendency to consider the husband as heaven, or a natural inclination to obey, still made them seem a step lower when interacting with men.

The woman before him was completely different. Her gaze towards him was one of genuine equality, as if they were the same in her eyes.

"Yes, I saw you collapsed by the roadside on my way back from the factory. You might not recognize me, but I have seen you." Lin Yan picked up a small bowl and ladled some congee into it.

"You!" He immediately became wary. She said she had seen him, so she knew his identity. Which of his identities?

"Relax. Tensing up like this will cause your wounds to reopen. I am Lin Zheng Zhe's daughter. I believe you know that." Lin Yan did not approach the bed and stated her identity.

"Minister Lin's daughter?" He slowly released the bedsheet he had been gripping.

"Yes, my father will be home in half an hour. I will ask him to come and see you. You can rest assured and recuperate here."

Lin Yan did not want to take on this person. For now, she did not want to get involved with such people. She only wanted to develop industry properly. When the time was right, she would bring what she could and go to the main base.

"After you finish eating, take your medicine. Although I've had someone medicate your wounds, you might develop a fever tonight, so you need to take the medicine."

Lin Yan gestured to the congee on the tray on the table and the medicine placed beside it.

"Aren't you going to ask my identity?"

"You are my father's friend. That reason alone is enough for me to save you. Moreover, your injuries are not simple, and I don't want to attract trouble for now.

My home is safe, and you can stay here and recover. The person who brought you back and bandaged you is our family driver, and he can be trusted. So, you don't need to worry about news of you being here leaking out."

After speaking, Lin Yan moved aside and sat down in a high-backed chair in the guest room.

"Thank you for saving me. Please rest assured, I will leave once I have recovered somewhat. I will not bring you any trouble," he said slowly after taking a deep breath.

This was his first encounter with Minister Lin's daughter. Although he had heard about her, he had never met her.

He only knew that she was very good at business, her ability to make money rivaling a printing press. Even before he was arrested, her reputation had spread throughout Shanghai.

After he finished eating and took the pills prepared by Lin Yan, Lin Yan picked up the tray and left.

Not long after, he heard the sound of a car. He endured the pain and walked to the window, seeing a car driving into the gate.

His eyesight was very good, and he saw that Lin's father was in the car. It seemed she hadn't lied to him; this was indeed Lin Mansion, and she was Minister Lin's daughter.

Lin Yan told Lin's father about saving someone and then stopped concerning herself with the matter.

Upon hearing about it, Lin's father immediately went to the guest room.

"Brother Zheng Zhe," he greeted Lin's father with a cupped-fist salute. "I've caused you trouble."

"Brother Qing Lin, how did you get here? What happened?" Lin's father was extremely shocked to see the severely injured person in the guest room.

His friend had always been cautious; how could he have sustained such serious injuries?

"Thank you for your daughter's rescue, or my life would likely have been lost," he did not answer Lin's father's question. After all, he couldn't be sure if there were spies present, or rather, he didn't want to drag Lin's father into this.

He planned to leave as soon as he felt a little better. He had been exposed, and he couldn't implicate Lin's father by making him a suspect as well.

"Brother Qing Lin, please rest assured and recuperate here. Regardless of anything else, there are sufficient medicinal supplies here." Lin's father was very concerned about his friend, not only because they shared common goals but also because he greatly admired his friend's abilities.

"The matters on my person are of great importance. I cannot implicate you. Furthermore, I must send the message back quickly."

He genuinely couldn't rest easy. The information he had obtained was of vital importance, so he had to send it back quickly.

Initially, he thought he would have to carry this message to his grave. But now that he was alive, he had to maximize the return on this message.

"Then I will arrange for your departure as soon as possible. Rest assured!" Lin's father understood the seriousness of the situation and immediately agreed.
