Chapter 108: Arrangments
"You plan to recruit your old colleagues to be deputies in our army?" He asked and Xiao Junxie nodded before explaining.
"They are capable and have a sense of right and wrong."
While speaking, he slid two A4 papers in front of Mo Chenxuan.
"Li Zongming was a member of the special forces and became an instructor after he retired. He has been an instructor for more than twenty years and has awakened an arms physical enhancement." Xiao Junxie said and quickly continued.
"Jia Yuyan is also capable and has awakened a brain enhancement. With her ability, coordinating all aspects of the army won’t be a problem."
"What’s their current post?"
"Li Zongming is an instructor and Jia Yuyan is an assistant. Both are under the Wei army but they are not very valued."
"Mmh." Mo Chenxuan nodded with a thoughtful expression.
On paper, Li Zongming and Jia Yuyan seemed competent.
However, both were under the Wei army.
"Would they be willing to leave the Wei army?" He asked and Xiao Junxie nodded.
"I recommended them because they are capable and principled. They have no future in the Wei army."
Hearing this, Mo Chenxuan nodded but still had a solemn expression.
"You can recruit your old colleagues but you have to be careful. Our foundation is not strong enough to go against the Wei family or any of the major powers, for that matter."
"I understand." Xiao Junxie said.
"How do you plan to recruit ordinary soldiers?"
"There is a large settlement a few hundred metres from the base. This settlement has many people who can’t enter the base for one reason or another. I plan to recruit some able-bodied people from there."
"Also, I will send people to stand at the base entrance to recruit newcomers. Finally, I will try to recruit and incorporate some small teams into our army."
"It’s a solid plan but what incentives do you plan to give?"
"I plan to buy several buildings in zone D. These houses will be rented at subsidised prices to our people. I also want to open a subsidised canteen and offer a basic salary."
"How will you fund these expenses?"
"Boss Mo, you will have to bear the initial outlay but the army will be able to pay for itself after some time."
"How?"
"Mission rewards, collecting supplies, and killing zombies." Xiao Junxie said and soon continued.
"Teams are flexible and suitable for small missions. However, an army is capable of taking large-scale missions, including retaking a fallen city."
"How will you handle supplies?"
"What do you mean?" Xiao Junxie asked.
"The army will have tens of thousands of people and naturally, the supplies involved are not few. How will you store and transport them?"
Xiao Junxie had not considered this matter.
Now that Mo Chenxuan mentioned it, he immediately realised that army logistics were a big headache.
However, he wasn’t discouraged.
"Boss Mo, I will find a way to recruit space-ability users. I will also buy and fortify a few warehouses." He said.
"Not just space-ability users, you also need healers and other superpowers."
"I understand."
"Remember to keep a low profile." Mo Chenxuan said and quickly continued.
"We have adequate resources to build an army but our foundation is weak. Don’t alert those that shouldn’t be alerted."
"I know."
After finalising some details, Xiao Junxie left the study and Mo Chenxuan slumped in his chair.
"It’s been five months since the apocalypse began." He muttered.
At the same time, he closed his eyes, allowing his consciousness to examine his body.
When the apocalypse first began, he awakened a brain enhancement, spiritual ability, and lightning ability.
Five months later, he was a level three superpower with five abilities, including the original three and the new, earth and fire abilities.
Although his brain enhancement, lightning, earth, and fire abilities were ordinary and didn’t evolve when he advanced, his spiritual ability was different.
After three breakthroughs, the spiritual ability could not only search a wide area but could also create a domain and allow him to plant ideas in people’s minds.
’I should practice my earth and fire abilities.’ Mo Chenxuan thought and slowly opened his eyes.
Soon after, he entered the space and began practising.
.....
In another villa, several metres from villa eight, an old man hit a table and a deep crack appeared.
"It’s been three days. Why haven’t we found the Night Shadows?" He demanded and several people couldn’t help but shudder in fear.
"Master..." A man started, swallowed, and forcibly continued.
"No one saw the Night Shadows. We don’t know their gender, age, and appearance. We don’t even know how many there are."
"How is this possible? Will my son and grandson die in vain?" The old man asked, his face twisted to an ugly master.
"My father and brother are dead but no one can find the culprit?" Fang Shuangshuang asked in an angry voice.
In fact, she didn’t care about her father and brother.
However, she cared about her face and her family’s reputation.
What did it mean that two prominent Fang family members were brutally killed but no one could find the culprit?
On one hand, it implied their family was weak and couldn’t protect themselves and on the other, it suggested their family was wicked and no one was willing to stand up for them.
After all, the crime scene was not a remote area.
How was it possible that no one saw anything?
Thinking about it, Fang Shuangshuang felt that people may have seen the culprits but were unwilling to help the Fang family.
"Increase the reward." She said, her eyes narrowed into slits.
"Shuangshuang, what are you thinking?" Fang Chongtian, the old man of the Fang family, asked.
"We will use honey to catch the bear." Fang Shuangshuang said and quickly continued.
"After dealing with the Night Shadows, we will retaliate against those who dared to take advantage of our Fang family. Our Fang family is not what a bunch of worthless people can judge."
