Chapter 25 Farewell Susan, Preparing to Traverse

Lin Feng understood. This was essentially a heavily modified Justice League plot.

He had to fight the corrupted Superman and nudge the storyline back on track. This way, the energy generated by worldline convergence would be reduced, and the exile would receive less energy.

"I have a few questions," Lin Feng mused, picking out the points he didn't understand.

"First, putting aside justice, why do we need to stop the exile from absorbing worldline energy?"

"It doesn't seem to affect our own world, does it?" Lin Feng's first question was rather ruthless, but it was true that the system wanted to take risks to deal with things that weren't happening in his own world. There must be some hidden reasons behind it.

Although he now possessed Superman's strength, Lin Feng knew that 'corrupted is three times stronger.' He didn't want to confront Superman without reason.

Moreover, even the system said the exile was good at using underhanded tactics, so he had to be cautious.

Hearing Lin Feng's confusion, the system explained, "When you help the worldline reduce the energy used for convergence, the worldline will allocate a portion of that energy to you as a reward."

"Simply put, you help him reduce consumption, and he helps you increase your strength."

"Oh! That makes sense." Lin Feng nodded. A gift from the will of the world should be quite generous.

"Then I have another question: doesn't the DC world have any powerful beings? They could completely deal with the corrupted Superman and the exile, and then return the worldline to its proper course."

"Why was the mission assigned to us?" This was Lin Feng's most pressing concern.

If the mission was assigned to him, the entire logic wouldn't make sense.

It was like in his current Marvel world; if there were some entities that massively disrupted the worldline, there were plenty of powerful beings who could eliminate them with one hand.

However, the system's answer was beyond Lin Feng's expectations.

"They cannot intervene, Host!"

"Let me give you an analogy. This is different from the novel plots you've read before."

"The simplest and easiest to understand analogy is this:"

"Even the strongest strongman cannot lift himself!"

"If they were to intervene, it would cause even greater changes to the worldline."

"There are also some very secret circumstances that I cannot tell you because your current strength is insufficient," the system explained mysteriously.

"No way, I'm already Superman, and that's still not enough?" Lin Feng was speechless. Superman's strength wasn't even considered enough by the system?

"You think it's enough?!" the system retorted, "You can't even defeat the Ancient One on Earth. Do you think you're sufficient in the universe?"

"Only when you reach the mid-Silver Superman stage will you be able to know more."

"For now, just follow this system's instructions to improve yourself as quickly as possible."

"Didn't the bald Ancient One tell you that greater trials await you in the future?" The system even brought up the Ancient One to persuade Lin Feng.

"Alright, alright," Lin Feng replied helplessly. When viewed in a cosmic context, Superman really wasn't enough.

"Last question, is there any life danger in this mission?"

"Life danger?" The system paused, thought for a moment, and said with uncertainty, "There shouldn't be?"

"What do you mean 'shouldn't be'?! You clarify that!" Lin Feng's face darkened.

"Corrupted Superman is Superman, but you are also Superman!" the system explained. "I think it shouldn't be a big problem..."

"Didn't I say the only thing you need to be particularly careful about is the exile..."

"Fine!" Lin Feng was utterly speechless. His words were as good as saying nothing!

He knew that his transmigration wouldn't be so simple that he could live a comfortable life.

As expected, it wasn't enough to save the Marvel world; he also had to save other worlds.

The information revealed by the system also made Lin Feng feel a sense of crisis.

He had initially thought that becoming Superman meant he would be invincible in the early stages, but based on the information the system had revealed, he had to become much stronger as soon as possible.

Lin Feng had a vague premonition that his days of idleness were numbered.

While contemplating the mission, Lin Feng received a call from Susan and returned to the villa.

After a simple dinner, they snuggled on the sofa and watched television.

Not long after, Lin Feng checked the mission time. In less than an hour, he would be traveling to DC.

He needed to explain a few things to Susan. If he disappeared without a word, Susan would worry.

The current Lin Feng was no longer alone.

With this thought, Lin Feng spoke, "Susan, I might have to go away for a while."

"About ten days, no more than half a month at the longest!"

"Huh? Lin, where are you going?" Susan asked, leaning into Lin Feng's embrace on the sofa.

Hearing that Lin Feng would be gone for so long, she lifted her head, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Oh! Darling, you know I'm Superman!" Lin Feng put his arm around Susan, smiling nonchalantly. "There are some things I need to take care of!"

"It's only ten days, it'll pass by quickly!" he comforted Susan, seeing her small face filled with worry.

"Here's a way to contact me!" Lin Feng handed Susan a card with Tony Stark's contact information.

"I might be unreachable these few days. If you need anything, call Iron Man!" Lin Feng instructed. He had already spoken with Tony, who would help look after Susan while he was away.

This was foresight!

"I understand, Lin!" Susan nodded, taking the card. After a moment's hesitation, she asked, "Will you be in danger?"

"What are you thinking, darling? Of course not!" Lin Feng confidently patted his chest, showcasing his firm pectoral muscles!

"In this world, what else can threaten Superman!"

Lin Feng certainly wouldn't tell her he was in danger, as it would cause unnecessary worry.

"Alright!" Lin Feng coaxed. "Don't worry about me. This journey is just a bit long, that's why it'll take this much time. Just wait for me to come back with peace of mind!"

"I'll bring you back a gift!"

Susan nodded with a worried look and cautioned, "Then you be extra careful when you're out there alone!"

Hearing Susan's solicitous words, Lin Feng smiled and agreed.

He checked the time; ten minutes remained. Lin Feng changed into his Superman suit and went outside the villa.

"Remember what I said, if there's any problem, find Iron Man!"

"Don't be polite to him! He still owes me something!" After his final instructions, Lin Feng lightly kissed Susan's forehead and then soared into the sky.

*Bang!*

With the sound of a sonic boom, Lin Feng quickly disappeared from Susan's sight.

Watching Lin Feng fly away, Susan stood there for a long time, her eyes filled with worry.

Although Lin Feng had told her the trip was not dangerous, Susan was an intelligent woman. Lin Feng was Superman. Who was Superman?

He was someone who could lift cargo ships with his bare hands and send monsters into outer space.

If even Superman needed more than ten days to handle something, would it truly be without any danger?

Clearly, Susan knew Lin Feng was saying that to prevent her from worrying.

Susan gently clutched the pendant Lin Feng had given her and silently blessed him in her heart.

...

High in the sky, the system said somewhat speechlessly, "Host, you can travel between worlds from the ground. There's no need to fly so high!"

Lin Feng snorted upon hearing this, "What do you know, you dog system."

"I'm flying this high to keep Susan from worrying!"

"The less she knows, the better. The less she knows, the happier she'll be!"

After explaining, Lin Feng couldn't resist adding a taunt, "You're clearly a single system, you wouldn't understand this!"

"Get lost!" the system cursed with a dark expression. "Prepare for the jump! This system will send you to have a blast fighting Superman!"
