The next morning, Lin Feng arrived at the palace to bid farewell to the All-Father, Odin.
Everything he needed to do was done, and he presumed Odin had already made some preparations for the future.
The celestial convergence would arrive soon, blurring the boundaries between the Nine Realms. Jane would then fall into that mysterious space and be possessed by Aether particles.
All that was left was to wait for that moment.
Upon the palace, Odin held Gungnir, his not-so-tall frame exuding a powerful presence.
"Lord Lin Feng, the information you've brought is of great importance to Asgard."
"I wish to express my sincere gratitude once again."
"You are too kind, All-Father!" Lin Feng waved his hand, smiling.
"If there is nothing else, I will return to Midgard. All-Father only needs to notify me when the time comes!"
As Lin Feng spoke, he pointed to the sky above, his meaning clear.
Odin understood, Lin Feng was referring to the celestial convergence.
He nodded, but then said with a chuckle, "Lord Lin Feng, please wait a moment."
"I observe that Lord Lin Feng seems to be without a proper weapon."
"Why not go to Asgard's vault and choose one!"
"Consider it Asgard's token of gratitude. Please do not refuse."
A seasoned elder, much less the King of Asgard, the All-Father Odin.
Odin truly missed no opportunity to befriend Lin Feng.
After all, he wished for his son to have a good relationship with Lin Feng, seeing it as an investment in Asgard's future.
If Thor and Lin Feng maintained a good relationship, everything else would be easier.
He himself would eventually pass on, and Lin Feng might very well be the key to defeating Hela.
Odin's sudden offer surprised Lin Feng, and he did not immediately refuse.
Odin's words had indeed reminded him that since he had crossed over to the Marvel world, he truly had no suitable weapon.
It wasn't that he didn't want one, but as a Kryptonian, he usually just needed to 'Ora Ora' his way through things. If that wasn't enough, he had heat vision and frost breath for ranged attacks.
With the Infinity Stones, Lin Feng had acquired means of large-scale destruction.
And after evolving into Silver Superman, he could manifest strange new abilities based on his thoughts from time to time.
Therefore, Lin Feng had never considered the issue of weapons.
After all, Superman's inherent design didn't require any weapons for assistance.
However, after some hesitation, Lin Feng decided to accept Odin's gift.
He also felt that Superman's offensive methods were somewhat too limited.
"In that case, thank you, All-Father!"
Since Odin had this intention, he might as well browse the vault and see if there was anything useful.
Odin clearly wanted to show his goodwill. He had told Odin the future, and Odin was gifting him a treasure.
Seeing Lin Feng agree, Odin nodded with satisfaction.
At least Lin Feng's visit to Asgard this time had been much more amicable than the last.
He summoned Thor and instructed him to escort Lin Feng to the vault to select a suitable weapon.
Thor was somewhat bewildered, not understanding why his father wanted to gift Lin Feng a treasure, but he dutifully led Lin Feng to Odin's treasure vault.
The two walked in.
The vault contained treasures Odin had collected over years of conquest.
Unlike most treasure vaults in movies and novels.
Odin's vault was not filled with mountains of gold and jewels as one might imagine.
Lin Feng found this quite reasonable.
A being at Odin's level would not deem mundane things like money worthy of being kept in his vault.
If there had been a pile of gold and jewelry, Lin Feng would have found it strange.
With Thor's guidance, Lin Feng walked through, observing Odin's collection.
Most of them were weapons or treasures with special properties.
However, there were very few that would be useful to Lin Feng.
Thor, meanwhile, continuously explained the origins and functions of various treasures to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng listened with great interest, treating it as storytelling, as the movies had not elaborated much on Odin's vault's collection.
After a long while, Thor suddenly picked up a silver-white greatsword and offered it to Lin Feng.
"I think this greatsword might suit you."
Lin Feng instinctively took it.
It was a silver-white greatsword, with a gemstone embedded in its hilt. Lin Feng could feel that the sword was very sturdy and its design was quite cool.
After casually weighing it a few times, Lin Feng returned it to Thor.
Although its quality was good, it wouldn't withstand Lin Feng's strength; it would probably shatter with a slight effort.
"You don't like it?" Thor asked, confused, placing the greatsword back. Then, from somewhere, he produced a one-handed sword.
"How about this one?"
Lin Feng rolled his eyes, not even bothering to take it.
A slender one-handed sword, like a needle.
Lin Feng couldn't imagine himself fighting enemies with a needle.
The image was too absurd; he didn't want to see it.
"You don't like this one either?" Thor frowned, sensing that Lin Feng perhaps didn't like sword-like weapons.
"It's alright, I'll show you the next one."
Lin Feng nodded, following Thor with a lack of enthusiasm. He had no hope of Thor choosing something suitable for him.
He would have to choose himself.
Lin Feng's peripheral vision caught sight of a massive golden glove, identical to the Infinity Gauntlet worn by the purple titan.
It was said to be a replica, and it was smashed to the ground by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
Beside the glove lay a regular, earthy-colored stone tablet.
Lin Feng recognized this tablet; he had even looked it up online when he first saw it.
It was the Book of Life, originating from the Atlantean civilization, long gone from Earth.
It was inscribed with a life equation for biological evolution. According to the evolutionary path on the Book of Life, any user could evolve into the highest form of life, possessing infinite wisdom and formidable combat power.
However, this was a function from the comics. Whether the Book of Life in the movies possessed this capability, Lin Feng did not know.
If it did, taking it back for Sue to use might be a good idea.
As Lin Feng pondered, he suddenly felt a chill.
He followed the chill with his gaze to a box emitting a faint ice-blue glow.
"The Casket of Ancient Winters."
Seeing Lin Feng's attention drawn to it, Thor leaned in and introduced it.
This item had some connection to his brother Loki.
Lin Feng nodded and hummed, acknowledging that he knew of this item.
It was an artifact of the Frost Giants, containing endless frost. It could instantly turn an area into a frozen wasteland.
Back then, when the Frost Giants attempted to plunge Earth into another ice age, Odin led the Asgardian warriors to defeat them and seized their source of power, the Casket of Ancient Winters.
In Thor, Loki had used the Casket of Ancient Winters to instantly freeze Heimdall.
"Do you want this casket?" Thor asked.
Although the casket was precious, Odin had told Thor not to refuse whatever Lin Feng chose.
"I'm merely curious. This item is not suitable for me!" Lin Feng shook his head and smiled casually.
The Casket of Ancient Winters was good, but it wouldn't be of much use to him.
This thing, he figured, might not even be as powerful as his own frost breath. Why would he need it!
