Chapter 440: Chapter 440: Why Did You Lie to Me? (2)
Raymond Thorne looked at Anya Forrest’s animated expression and suddenly said, "You’re hiding something else from me, aren’t you?"
Anya’s heart skipped a beat, but her face remained blank.
Raymond laughed as he looked at Anya, "Your temperament and personality, they’re definitely not the gentle and calm type, right?"
Anya let out a sigh of relief, and her face blushed instantly: "You figured it out."
"I figured it out a long time ago." Every time the conversation turned to topics she was interested in, Anya would light up, speaking with enthusiasm.
At that moment, he realized Anya was definitely not the gentle as water type of girl.
Moreover, a truly gentle, calm, and serene girl could never handle the job of a manager.
Anya was stunned for a moment: "Since you realized it early on, why didn’t you say anything?"
Raymond smiled and said, "Because I thought you were quite adorable that way."
Anya’s cheeks flushed red, but she insisted on being tough: "I’m naturally adorable. Had I known you knew nothing, I wouldn’t have been avoiding you lately."
Raymond was a bit surprised: "You’ve been avoiding meeting me because of this?"
"Yeah, what if you decided to end our friendship over this? Wouldn’t I just cry myself silly?"
Raymond was quite exasperated: "I really don’t know what goes on in that little head of yours. But, Anya, why did you do this? I mean, why disguise your personality?"
"You’re asking the obvious," Anya huffed: "Of course, it’s because I’m smitten with you."
"So..." Raymond’s voice grew serious, his eyes fixed on Anya, "Anya, are you confessing to me?"
"No," Anya quickly denied, "I’m just speaking honestly."
Raymond couldn’t help but laugh.
Anya was displeased and shot him a cold look: "What’s so funny? Stop laughing."
"Alright, I won’t laugh." Raymond suddenly grabbed Anya’s hand: "I’m really happy."
Anya retracted her hand like a startled rabbit, her long lashes fluttering as her cheeks turned as red as ripe apples.
Seeing Anya like this, Raymond’s grin grew wider. He felt his heart soaring, jubilant and full of emotions, ready to burst.
It was more intense than anything he felt, even in his youth or during his teenage crushes.
Anya had the shy demeanor of a girl whose secret had been uncovered, but only in the reflection of her eyes could anyone see how cold her gaze was—nowhere near the look of someone facing a loved one.
...
The black Bentley slowly stopped downstairs.
Raymond sat in the driver’s seat: "Alright, you’re home."
"Yeah, I’m home. Thank you for bringing me back. Goodnight in advance."
"I suddenly quite like saying goodnight in advance."
Anya was at a loss.
Raymond turned to look at her, "Actually, doing something on time is the best character trait. Anya, do you agree with me?"
"I... you... what do you mean by that?"
"Don’t you understand?" Raymond’s voice suddenly grew soft as he leaned towards Anya.
Anya was stunned for a moment, then pushed Raymond away, opened the car door, and bolted out like a rabbit.
