Chapter 509: Chapter 509: Raina North’s Efforts Come to Nothing (Part 1)
Claire North spoke passionately, but her heart was pounding nervously, and her gaze at Beau Shelby was full of plea.
She was gambling, betting on the past relationship; as long as she passed this hurdle, she would have some breathing space.
Raina North stood coldly by the side, her gaze swept over everyone’s faces and finally rested on Beau Shelby’s face. Seeing Beau’s expression of hesitation, clearly stirred by Claire North’s old memories, she knew it was impossible to get the truth out of his mouth.
In fact, since Beau Shelby had woken up but lost his memories of this time, Raina North knew this would be the outcome.
Her urgency just now was merely an attempt to exploit Claire North’s guilty conscience, but it was actually a final desperate struggle.
"See? All your scheming and plotting were for nothing. The relationship between my brother and Claire is something you can’t destroy." Rachel Shelby looked at Raina North smugly.
Raina North looked at her as if looking at a fool. Did she really know whom she was protecting so meticulously?
It was the person who wanted her brother dead.
"What kind of look is that?" To be honest, although Rachel wasn’t bright, her eyesight was pretty good.
"The look you give to a fool. It’s the first time I’ve seen someone so eager to put a green hat on her own brother, wishing him to die sooner."
Saying this, Raina North stopped wasting words with her and turned again to Beau Shelby on the bed, continuing the topic before Claire North and others came in.
"Someone tampered with your IV, causing your recent memory loss, but this is only temporary. I am confident that you will recover." Raina North’s gaze swept past Claire North, who was hanging her head low, "But this time, you better be more alert. This time, you were lucky and just lost a bit of memory; next time, you might really lose your life."
"Sister, aren’t you afraid that Elias might misunderstand your feelings for Beau if you keep stirring up my relationship with him?" Claire North’s peripheral vision swept past a figure that was approaching, "I know you want revenge on me. Elias, Baby, Beau are all tools for your revenge. You have succeeded. Now you are the wife of The Hawthorne Family, Baby’s mother; you have taken everything from my hands, why won’t you just let me go?"
Raina North watched Claire North’s sudden dramatic performance and couldn’t help but squint her eyes.
"Sister, I beg you, please show mercy and spare everyone. Don’t worry, I won’t tell Elias about you and Beau. I... Elias, why are you here?" Claire North, seemingly suddenly noticing Elias Hawthorne’s arrival, looked shocked and then hurriedly explained, "Elias, don’t misunderstand, there’s nothing between my sister and Beau. She just came to check on Beau out of past sentiments because he was injured."
At some point, Elias Hawthorne appeared at the hospital room door with Baby Hawthorne and Casper North in tow.
Elias Hawthorne remained expressionless as ever, but the two little ones couldn’t help but critique Claire North’s insidious sarcasm.
Casper North looked amazed, "Is this the legendary ’If you want to get by in life, you must wear a bit of green on your head?’" He leaned towards Baby Hawthorne, "But does your mom not mind urgently looking to put a green hat on herself?"
Baby Hawthorne chose not to comment.
But Baby’s silence did not stop Casper North from continuing to ridicule.
"Your mom is really something. She clearly saw us and still had to say all that. Does she think Dad is as stupid as her and can’t tell she’s trying to sow discord?"
