Chapter 301: Chapter 301: This Man Is Seducing Her (1)
"Do you really not know why I’m so upset?" Elias Hawthorne grabbed Raina’s small hands pressed against his chest and pushed them aside. His hot breath sprayed beside her ear. "Stay still! Have you forgotten you just promised not to ruin my plans a second time? What, regretting it now?"
Raina was speechless. "Is that what I meant? I was saying you and..."
The dangerous glint in the man’s black eyes made Raina dare not finish her sentence, so she stopped talking.
Elias had no intention of letting it go so easily. His fingers pinched her head, "Speak! Isn’t your mouth always so lively? Why are you silent now?"
"I was wrong, sir, I’m wrong, isn’t that enough?" Raina pleaded. "Can you please get up?"
If anyone saw them like this, she couldn’t clear her name even if she drowned in The Serpent River.
Elias understood Raina’s thought process and replied, "No way."
"Elias Hawthorne!"
"Raina." Elias looked straight at Raina, his voice cold and heavy. "How dare you say such things? Don’t you know my feelings for you? Was your conscience eaten by a dog?"
Raina froze for a moment and said nothing.
Elias was aggressive. "Speak! Answer me!"
This time, he made it clear he wouldn’t give Raina a chance to avoid it.
Raina paused for a moment before speaking softly, "Elias Hawthorne, you should know that our marriage is nothing but a misunderstanding. No need to take it seriously."
"Raina, how dare you say such things!" Elias was furious, spat out a mouthful of blood.
Raina was startled, hurriedly placing her fingers on Elias’s neck to check his condition.
It was the residual poison in his body.
That kind of poison was very potent. Though it had been neutralized, it still left remnants that needed to be dealt with carefully, and he must avoid extreme joy or anger.
"Get up first; I need to prepare some medication for you again to eliminate those remnants in your body; otherwise, it will still burden your body."
Elias turned over, embraced Raina, and tightened his grip around her waist. "If you truly care for me, don’t intentionally provoke me."
Raina wanted to say that she was just speaking the truth.
But when she saw the man’s pale face, she swallowed her words. Because if she angered him, causing the poison to flare up again, she’d be the one who suffers.
She decided against causing more trouble for herself.
Five minutes.
Ten minutes.
Twenty minutes.
Seeing Elias still holding her tightly, showing no intention of letting go.
Raina couldn’t help but sigh. "President Hawthorne, enough is enough. You’re a grown man; don’t be so childish, okay? The remnants of the poison in your body aren’t cleared. You need to rest calmly, understand?"
It seemed as though Elias didn’t hear Raina’s words; his large hand stroked her silky black hair, his voice with a hint of hoarseness. "I know you’re not entirely happy, not happy with how White and I are forcing you. But I’m doing this not only for Baby but also to show you that you, Raina North, are the best, and you don’t need to hesitate because of Baby."
Raina’s face tightened slightly, anger etched in her brow. Her gaze at Elias like daggers.
"Raina, I enjoy your intense gaze, but it’s not the most important thing right now. Do you understand?"
Raina pressed her lips and said nothing.
She actually understood.
Understood the purpose of Elias’s actions.
But she couldn’t speak it, couldn’t admit it.
Because speaking it out, admitting it would mean she willingly acknowledged his feelings for her.
She couldn’t.
Nor was she willing.
She cannot, nor does she want to be tied to any man, even if that man is Elias Hawthorne.
