"What's going on?" Wang Yu looked bewildered at the beautiful woman who had suddenly appeared before him.
Well, she *should* count as a beauty.
She was wearing a mini-suit, had a wine-red wavy hairstyle, and high heels, dressed very fashionably.
She looked young and pretty, though her makeup was a bit heavy. While some might like it, Wang Yu wasn't particularly impressed.
The real question was, how did such a woman come out of his house?
As she got closer, a strong perfume scent assaulted his nostrils, making him want to sneeze.
Moreover, the woman wore a necklace and rings that clearly looked expensive, indicating a significant social status.
"She doesn't look like much, this man."
The woman appraised Wang Yu with a discerning gaze, full of disdain and contempt.
"His looks are barely passable, but his background is just that of a common farmer, from a small factory in a mere small county… this is the trump card you've prepared?"
Tilting her head, the woman, holding a thin ladies' cigarette in her mouth, cast a sidelong glance at Wu Lingling.
"It has nothing to do with you," Wu Lingling pursed her lips, her expression looking rather displeased. A section of white radish in her hand was so tightly gripped that her fingernails left deep imprints.
"Hey, what's going on?" Wang Yu stepped forward curiously, casually taking the misshapen radish from her hand. It seemed she had been about to wash it for cooking.
In his memory, Wu Lingling had always been cheerful, generous, and spirited. Now, she looked like a bullied young girl, her face stiff.
"She is my..."
Wu Lingling started to speak, but was interrupted by the woman.
"I am her sister, Wu Manman," the woman stated assertively, then added, "Her biological sister, mind you."
Biological sister?
Wang Yu was taken aback. He looked closely and found that they did indeed share some resemblance in their features, and Wu Lingling didn't object, so they were probably biological sisters.
However, their temperaments and dressing styles were worlds apart. Compared to the simple and clean Wu Lingling, her sister seemed overly made up, which Wang Yu personally found unappealing.
"Miss Wu Manman," Wang Yu sized up Wu Manman, "May I ask the reason for your sudden visit to my humble abode?"
Looking at Wu Lingling's expression and Wu Manman's demeanor, it was clear their relationship wasn't harmonious. So, Wang Yu skipped the pleasantries and directly inquired about her purpose.
"Heh, 'humble abode'? This place that looks like a dog kennel, and you have the nerve to flatter yourself."
Wu Manman said with utter contempt, "If it weren't to see my runaway sister, even if I had to be carried here in an eight-bearer sedan chair, I wouldn't come to a place like this."
Wu Manman's words were sharp, making Wu Lingling's expression even more rigid, and Wang Ling looked like she was about to cry from anger.
Wang Yu immediately stepped between them, blocking the two women behind him.
"Miss Wu Manman, although I don't know your intention, demeaning others so casually is rather inappropriate," Wang Yu said to Wu Manman with a very serious expression.
"Heh, what right do you have to speak to me? Don't think you're so great just because you have a small factory and achieved some success. There are plenty of people richer and more powerful than you in this world.
You're just an ant. Some people can crush you without a trace just by reaching out and stepping on you."
Wu Manman spoke with extreme arrogance, sneering at Wang Yu.
"You bad woman!" Wang Ling tried to speak again from the side, but Wang Yu stopped her.
"Yes, I admit that your status might be noble, and we are incomparable. Although you keep emphasizing that I have no right to speak to you, you've spoken to me at least ten times since you arrived, and most of those were initiated by you."
Wang Yu said calmly, without any hint of anger.
"You..." Wu Manman was suddenly speechless. Wang Yu's words were indeed quite accurate.
Stunned by Wang Yu's retort, her face turned peculiar, and she was rendered speechless. Even Wang Ling and Wu Lingling couldn't help but stifle a laugh.
"Alright, Manman, stop causing trouble here. I'm not going home," Wu Lingling said after a moment of silence, stepping forward to break the impasse.
"Not going home? Are you still not giving up, pinning your hopes on this penniless brat?" Wu Manman rolled her eyes disdainfully and flicked her finished cigarette to the ground, crushing it under her heel.
"Don't tell me you actually think Father has Alzheimer's and knows nothing? Everything you're doing is futile! Utterly futile, do you understand?"
As she spoke, Wu Manman wore an expression of frustration, as if disappointed by a loved one's lack of progress.
"Regardless, I have to try. And he's not 'this kid,' he's my important partner," Wu Lingling pointed at Wang Yu, her face flushing slightly, and stated very earnestly.
"Oh, please. You've got your eye on a piece of trash who has nothing… Forget it, I don't want to say anything more. You're on your own!"
Halfway through her sentence, Wu Manman pouted, a disdainful smile appearing at the corner of her perfectly painted lips.
She then turned to leave.
"Wait a moment, what about the matter I entrusted to you?" Wu Lingling suddenly called out to her.
"Hmph, I'm only helping you one last time out of sisterly regard. I was in quite a bit of trouble with Father the last time I helped you run away from home," Wu Manman said unceremoniously, tossing a stack of documents onto the table before them.
"Honestly, you're just making a fool of yourself. In the end, it will all be in vain, and this trash will suffer along with you."
As she spoke, she glanced at Wang Yu and then departed haughtily.
"Uh, what's going on? Your sister doesn't seem very friendly," Wang Yu asked with slight displeasure, watching Wu Manman's retreating figure.
Even a clay figurine has its breaking point. No one would feel good about being repeatedly called trash.
It was only because she was a woman and Wu Lingling's sister that Wang Yu restrained himself from saying anything.
"She's my sister," Wu Lingling sighed softly. "You know I ran away from home. I can't tell you all the details; it's complicated and wouldn't benefit you.
For now, you just need to know that I ran away from home because I need to build something for myself from scratch to prove my worth. That's why I..."
"So you sought me out," Wang Yu realized. No wonder this woman had immediately suggested a partnership but hadn't taken much action.
"That's right. I approached you for collaboration precisely for that reason – to achieve something and prove myself.
While your past achievements are impressive and outstanding, they've ultimately been limited to small-scale endeavors within a small county. There's a broader stage that needs development.
So I've been waiting for an opportunity, without taking too many drastic actions. But now..."
At this point, Wu Lingling suddenly held up the stack of documents Wu Manman had left.
"This is the opportunity I've prepared. Like I told you before, the order for 500 units!"
