Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Left Behind by Him
After Ann Vaughn finished reading all the documents, she heard Mark Joyce’s words and nodded without much hesitation, "Of course, being able to work with you guys will save me a lot of trouble."
"Alright then, I’ll draft the contract as soon as possible. Miss Vaughn will just need to review and sign it at that time." Mark Joyce nodded in agreement. "Additionally, we’ve contacted Mr. Regis, the interior designer, to help renovate the Vaughn Clinic, but it’s still up to you."
Interior designer Regis?
Isn’t he the chief designer who once revamped the ancient famous landmarks in The Imperial Capital?!
Having such an esteemed designer renovate her small clinic seems quite unusual, to say the least.
"Special Assistant Joyce." Ann Vaughn suddenly remembered something and hesitantly asked, "Does he know about this?"
"President Hawthorne doesn’t know yet. Before confirming the results, I won’t bother President Hawthorne with things that have no chance."
So that’s how it is.
Ann Vaughn nodded, suppressing the loss in her heart, and put on a relaxed smile, "Then I’ll count on Special Assistant Joyce for the next steps."
"Rest assured, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied."
After Mark Joyce left, Ann Vaughn picked up the proposal again and reread it, sighing in her heart.
Thankfully, she didn’t show her own plan to Cyrus Hawthorne; if compared, she’d surely be laughed at by him.
But...
Ann Vaughn turned to look out the window, her pretty face somewhat blank; he hadn’t returned yet.
Until the next day, Ann Vaughn woke on the sofa by the window, subconsciously looked outside, and still didn’t see Cyrus Hawthorne’s car parked below.
He hadn’t come back all night.
Ann Vaughn bit her lower lip. Her heart was filled with a sour sadness, leaving her at a loss.
Since his amnesia, he had never been so angry with her.
Even the last big fight was mostly her anger and stubbornness.
Being left behind by him, this seemed to be the first time.
Suppressing the disappointment in her heart, Ann Vaughn freshened up, grabbed her things, and went downstairs, just in time to receive a call from Mark Joyce. Regis had already looked over Vaughn Clinic and sent over the design drawings, which would be forwarded to her.
"Miss Vaughn, good morning." Uncle Dexter greeted Ann Vaughn with a kind smile as she walked by. "Breakfast is ready."
"Thank you, Uncle Dexter." Ann Vaughn smiled and sat down in the dining room, asking, "Uncle Dexter, did Cyrus Hawthorne come back last night?"
Uncle Dexter shook his head, "Young Master didn’t return last night after going out. The company is quite busy these days, so please don’t mind."
"I see." Ann Vaughn responded, lowering her eyelashes and eating the meal in front of her somewhat tastelessly.
Detecting the disappointment in her words, Uncle Dexter vaguely guessed at something and said with a smile.
"Busy as it may be, the Young Master still declined an important dinner last night to go to The Imperial Palace to pick up Miss Vaughn. Clearly, whether he’s lost his memory or not, Miss Vaughn holds a special place in the Young Master’s heart."
"Did he specially go to The Imperial Palace last night?" Ann Vaughn was a little surprised. She thought he was originally resting on the top floor of The Imperial Palace, making it convenient for Jane Sheridan and that woman to take advantage.
"Yes, Young Master came back to change clothes. Just when he saw the message sent by Miss Vaughn, he couldn’t care less about the dinner and went to find you." Uncle Dexter laughed teasingly.
Message? What message?
Ann Vaughn was somewhat confused. She didn’t seem to have sent any message to Cyrus Hawthorne yesterday.
Thinking about it, Ann Vaughn took out her phone to confirm once more. The words she had typed last night but didn’t send were still in the input box, and the previous messages were still from many days ago.
Then what message did Cyrus Hawthorne receive to come looking for her?
"Uncle Dexter, do you know the content of that message?"
"Don’t worry, before I could see anything, the Young Master immediately blocked it off." It just seemed like even his eyebrows were filled with joy.
"..."
Ann Vaughn slumped her shoulders, weakly continuing her breakfast, but was interrupted by the sound of a report from the TV on the dining room wall.
"...Master Moore’s only son and Miss Chambers’ engagement ceremony will be held at the Master Moore Family on Sunday. They truly are a heavenly couple, inspiring envy..."
The lens then began to show the lavishly extravagant venue arrangements at the Master Moore Family, all splendid enough to make one drool, comparable to a century’s wedding.
Yet this is just the engagement ceremony.
Although Silas Master Moore usually is out of control, seemingly adept at playing with girls’ hearts, and ridiculously flirtatious, he’s quite popular in The Imperial Capital, rivaling those fresh-faced celebrities.
After all, he’s born with a face that attracts attention!
Ann Vaughn snorted and changed the channel, not looking at those enviable "couple" photos, her delicate brows gradually knotted.
Wondering if Susie Sommers had seen this news.
The last time at Villa No. 28, Susie Sommers was repeatedly humiliated by Leona Chambers, and Silas Master Moore didn’t stand up to speak for her at all. It showed that Susie had long lost her place in his heart.
But for Susie...
She still remembered when Susie mentioned her master "Wintertide" in the web community with a shy and joyful expression.
Susie was not only a voice actor in the web dubbing circle but also had classic works that remain renowned to this day, sweeping the era.
She and "Wintertide" met online for less than a year, but because of mutual admiration and understanding, they were about to enter real life.
On that day, Ann Vaughn watched Susie shyly and worriedly debate which clothing to choose for half a day. She ultimately went to the date full of joy and returned with tears on her face.
She said, "I would never have dreamed that the person I liked the most would turn out to be my big brother."
"To hell with the big brother! Damn it, Silas Master Moore! If the guy I fancy is the Jade Emperor, I’ll get him for myself!"
This sentiment had been engraved in her heart all these years.
Ann Vaughn sighed as she looked at Susie’s past works still displayed on certain platforms’ banners on her phone.
Now, Susie truly should let go.
As she thought this, Ann Vaughn saw Susie’s name appear on her phone screen.
"Susie..." Ann Vaughn was about to offer some comfort when Susie’s angry voice interrupted.
"Annie, want to pull off something big? How about a news headline of the groom suddenly dying being more explosive than a century’s engagement ceremony?"
Ann Vaughn: "..."
Uh-oh, loves turned to hate.
To prevent Susie from doing anything shocking at the engagement ceremony the day after tomorrow, Ann Vaughn had to calm her down and make sure she goes with her to the Master Moore Family, not by herself.
With Susie’s temperament, her sorrow comes quickly and also fades quickly.
But the fire in her heart, if given a bomb, she’d ignite it immediately and throw it at the Master Moore Family, blowing up those two bastards.
Given the circumstances, Ann Vaughn definitely couldn’t let her go to the Master Moore Family alone.
