Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Why Don’t We Have One Ourselves
As he spoke, the Little Dumpling tossed an innocent and adorable smile at Cyrus Hawthorne, "Uncle, see you later!"
Then he trotted out of the living room, his little back exuding a sense of smugness.
Ann Vaughn finally understood: the Little Dumpling was actually competing for attention with Cyrus, which she found rather amusing.
However, when she turned back, she was caught by Cyrus’s deep, dangerous gaze fixed intently on her, making her heart skip a beat.
Could it be that he had noticed something...
The next second, she heard his cold, deep voice.
"So, every night you sleep with that little brat?"
Annie was taken aback, swallowing hard, "Yes, yes, Kenny is still young and needs adult companionship." Then she defended herself, "Kenny is not a little brat; he’s very well-behaved and understanding, it’s just an exception today."
She still couldn’t figure out how they suddenly became so confrontational.
Very well-behaved and understanding?
Upon hearing this, Cyrus raised his eyebrows slightly but said nothing more. He leaned over, picked up a document folder on the table, and handed it to Ann, "I brought the transfer papers for Vaughn Clinic. You just need to sign, and you can regain ownership."
"And the assets you had back then have been transferred back to your name."
Originally, after Ann Vaughn "died," all her assets were to be consolidated into Cyrus Hawthorne’s name.
But everything she once owned had been carefully safeguarded by Cyrus, untouched, and no one was allowed to interfere with them.
At that time, it was wishful thinking, but now, it’s a fulfilled wish.
Ann Vaughn accepted the document folder, its weight giving her an unreal feeling, her gaze like an unruffled lake with gentle ripples.
Since returning to the country, she hadn’t mentioned anything about Vaughn Clinic, assuming it no longer belonged to her.
After all, four years had passed, and it was understandable that some things wouldn’t belong to her anymore.
Maybe she wasn’t that sad, but there was an undeniable regret in her heart.
But she had no idea that during the time when she was "dead," Cyrus would not only protect Vaughn Clinic but also preserve everything she once owned so well.
So well that... she had the illusion that he deeply loved her.
Gradually emerging from her thoughts, Ann held the document folder tightly, her complex gaze meeting Cyrus’s calm expression, "Thank you for guarding these things for me."
Especially Vaughn Clinic.
It carried all her grandfather’s hopes and instructions for her and was of great significance to her.
"Rather than saying thank you." Cyrus let out a light laugh from his thin lips, placing a hand on Ann’s head, "Why not kick out that little brat and sleep with me?"
The warmth that had just risen in Ann’s heart was immediately stifled. She was at a loss for words.
However, he gave her no chance to speak, lifting her up just like she had done with Kenny earlier, striding towards the master bedroom.
Once inside, he placed Ann on the soft beige bed and promptly moved on top.
"Do you like children? How about we have one ourselves?" Cyrus’s voice was filled with deep, indescribable emotions as it softly resonated in her ear.
His slightly cool fingertips traced down from her earlobe, causing the person beneath him to tremble incessantly.
"Wait... wait!" Ann’s face flushed as she forced herself to break from the overwhelming attraction before her, one hand pushing against his chest, the other reaching for her phone.
"Hmm?"
"Let me check the calendar!" Ann quickly opened the calendar to check the date. The last few times, Mother Nature had thwarted her, and she absolutely wouldn’t fall into the same trap again!
Cyrus’s handsome face darkened instantly, almost gnashing his teeth as he nipped her delicate chin, "What, are you picking an auspicious time?"
With that, he snatched Ann’s phone from her, ignoring her protests, pressing her down again and silencing all her complaints.
"Save your energy; there’s no way I’ll let you off tonight."
With the charming, magnetic voice of the man settling, the air in the room seemed to catch fire, growing intensely hot, filled with an ambiguity that made one’s face flush and heart race.
Initially, Ann thought he was just trying to scare her, but when, drowsy from the heat, she caught a glimpse of the time on the wall clock, she almost passed out.
He really meant what he said and did it!
Meanwhile, in the neighboring apartment, Lord Kenny had waited forever for his mommy to come tell him a bedtime story and sleep with him, but she hadn’t shown up. The answer was simple: he and The Archfiend were sworn enemies!
Only when a hint of dawn appeared on the horizon did Cyrus finally relent, picking up the hoarse little creature begging for mercy and carrying her to the bathroom for a quick wash.
Then, he carried her back to the bed, now with fresh sheets and covers, and with her already asleep in his arms, he closed his eyes and fell into a satisfied slumber.
Being so thoroughly exhausted that her whole body felt limp, Ann didn’t wake until afternoon. Her first action was to grab her phone and stubbornly check the calendar.
Check the date!
Afterward, Ann buried her face back into the soft pillow, trying to ease the aches from her limbs which left her with no strength to get out of bed.
She even suspected that Cyrus remembered Kenny’s words and had worn her out so much that she wouldn’t even want to open her eyes, preventing her from telling Kenny stories and sleeping with him.
But was Cyrus really that childish?
Ann deeply doubted it, and only after a long time did she tiredly crawl out of bed, looking down at the red marks and bite marks covering her fair skin, her face flushing scarlet.
Is this man not a wolf?
Ann indignantly thought to herself while grabbing the ointment from the drawer and hurriedly heading to the bathroom.
The hot water was prepared in advance, toothpaste was squeezed onto the toothbrush, neatly placed with a cup, and there was even a set of clothes on the rack.
As if he predicted she would want a hot bath first thing after getting up, the water in the tub was still warm.
Ann paused slightly, only now belatedly realizing.
Ever since Cyrus lost his memory, not only had his attitude towards her been inexplicably good, but whatever he could do himself, he never let her handle it, as if he...
Treated her like a child.
And last night, if she remembered correctly, Cyrus did indeed say something about wanting a child.
Ann’s fingers paused with the toothbrush, a look of bewilderment gradually rising on her pretty face.
