Chapter 431: Chapter 431: Do You Want a Little Sister?
The reluctant Little Dumpling was carried to the dining room by Cyrus Hawthorne and immediately started kicking his short legs, wanting to jump down from his arms.
Mommy’s arms were fragrant and soft, but The Archfiend’s arms were just like him, cold and hard, not comfortable at all!
Cyrus didn’t stop Little Dumpling’s actions, but simply placed him on the ground, then squatted down to meet his gaze, asking casually, "Do you want a cute and obedient little sister?"
Kenny’s beautiful big eyes immediately lit up, and he nodded his little head like pounding garlic.
Of course, he wanted one!
"Since you want one, then don’t cling to your mommy all the time, okay?" Cyrus looked at Kenny’s soft, adorable little face full of longing, and a hint of a smile appeared in his cold eyebrows.
However, upon hearing this, Little Dumpling sensed something unusual. He waved his little chubby hand and wrote a line in English on the writing board.
Seeing the particularly neat and beautiful handwriting in English, Cyrus slightly raised his eyebrows, showing no hint of emotion on his handsome face, "Do you think I have some hidden agenda?"
Little Dumpling snorted, but the criticism in his heart was too much for the small writing board, so he could only write the words "monopolize mommy."
Then he puffed out his little chest with an air of "I won’t fall for your tricks."
Cyrus’s thin lips curled up slightly, and he asked in a deep voice, "So you don’t want a little sister anymore?"
Little Dumpling puffed his cheeks, feeling too conflicted to speak.
When Ann Vaughn received Quinn’s message and was about to head out, she came to the dining room to say goodbye to Cyrus and Kenny, only to find the two of them staring each other down like a rivalry, with the atmosphere seeming a bit off.
"Cian, I need to go to the Levitt Family’s place, please take care of Kenny for me!" Ann Vaughn’s bright eyes twinkled as she cleverly chose to escape the battlefield.
Cyrus: "..."
Kenny: "..."
...
Levitt Family.
Ann Vaughn had been there many times before. Familiar with the place, she walked through the courtyard and into the warm villa. Just as she was about to put away her umbrella, she suddenly felt her calf being hugged.
Startled, Ann Vaughn looked down and saw Luke, who had run over at some point, clinging to her leg shyly, "Auntie Annie!"
"Luke!" Ann Vaughn chuckled, easily scooped him up, examined his complexion for a moment, and then pinched his cheek contentedly, "You’ve been doing well, put on some weight too."
When she first saw Luke, he was so skinny and frail that it hurt to think about it, but fortunately, he’s been doing well now.
Luke couldn’t help but shyly bury his head in her arms after getting his cheek pinched, which made Ann Vaughn want to laugh.
"Luke’s quick recovery is all thanks to the medicinal food prescription you provided." Silas Kane walked out, his gaze softly passing over Luke, and said to Ann Vaughn, "I’ve recently sourced a lot of medicinal herbs from friends. Once I’m done, come and take a look."
"Thank you, Levitt." Ann Vaughn’s bright eyes curved with gratitude, and seeing that Quinn wasn’t there, she asked, "Where’s Sister Quinn? Hasn’t she returned yet?"
Silas shook his head, took the flushed little Luke from her hands, and smiled, "She’s upstairs now, said you should go directly to find her when you arrived."
"I’ll go up and see her then." With that, Ann Vaughn waved goodbye to Luke and headed upstairs.
Luke reluctantly took back his hand after she left, held his face, and sighed despondently, "Auntie Annie’s arms are so fragrant and soft, but daddy’s are not..."
Hearing this, Silas’s mouth twitched twice as he chuckled, "So you’re complaining that your own father’s arms aren’t fragrant and soft, huh? Others held you more often before, didn’t see you liking that so much."
Despite Luke’s shy, introverted demeanor around Ann Vaughn, everyone who knew him understood he was quite the handful.
Never mind holding him, even speaking to him depended on whether he felt like acknowledging you or not.
But when it came to Ann Vaughn, it was a different story...
"That’s because they aren’t as nice as Auntie Annie." Luke glanced at Silas, seeing no reaction from him, and immediately seemed a little exasperated, "Silly dad!"
Silas: "..." Shane Sharp, that little bastard! He should never have let him hang around with Luke before! Corrupted my son!
Upstairs in the room.
Quinn was sitting at her desk, live-streaming a makeup session for her fans as a reward she promised for her movie surpassing the 5-billion box office mark.
Hearing a knock at the door, Quinn quickly apologized to her fans and put down her eyeliner, puzzled as she walked to the door, "Didn’t I tell Silas to keep the staff away tonight..."
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Ann Vaughn standing elegantly outside, and was momentarily taken aback, "Annie?"
"Sister Quinn," Ann Vaughn smile lifted her lips, "I was worried about what you mentioned in the message, so I decided to come by; hope I’m not intruding?"
"How could you be?" Quinn hadn’t expected Ann Vaughn to take her mentioning about feeling unwell to heart and come over especially, making her feel quite touched, "Thank you, please come in!"
Ann Vaughn nodded and followed her into the room.
"Actually, Annie, I was just..."
"Sister Quinn, what’s that smell in your room?" As soon as Ann Vaughn entered, she smelled a strange fragrance, slightly frowning as she asked.
Quinn was taken aback, followed Ann Vaughn’s lead, and sniffed the air carefully before distinguishing what it was, "It’s the island rose Claire Hanson gave me, said to help sleep, brought back from her private island vacation."
At this point, Quinn lowered her voice, "I’ve been having trouble sleeping and feeling low energy lately, and every time I smell the fragrance it makes me feel better; however, recently it doesn’t seem to be working anymore..."
Due to the many fans in the live stream, Quinn kept her voice low to avoid any rumors spreading.
"To help with sleep?" Ann Vaughn had already spotted the bouquet placed on the windowsill.
She walked over, picked up the flowers, observed them thoroughly, and then directly pulled out the flower core!
Quinn followed, and upon seeing the blackened flower core in Ann Vaughn’s hand, was a little puzzled, "The flowers were blooming well, why’s the core so..."
"The core was soaked in poison and placed into the flower later, hidden deeply to keep you from noticing." Ann Vaughn’s gaze cooled as she toyed with the flower in her hand, "Quite the elaborate deception."
"Could it be a mistake?" Quinn looked at the blackened flower core, its aroma more intense than the petals, feeling invigorated just by smelling it, "I’ve been smelling it for a while now and haven’t shown any signs of poisoning, rather my complexion’s glowing, and I’ve felt rejuvenated, aside from occasional drowsiness, nothing seemed amiss..."
