The bait state is prepared to be very plump and smooth, with two spherical balls pulled on the double hooks, and then two Triangle Cannons are pinched on the hook shank. With a gentle sway of the fishing rod, it fell into the spot.
In less than ten minutes, Zhang Yang's spot began to show obvious bobber movements.
The edge position is so unreasonable, Zhang Yang slightly probed the position of the fish layer and found it was already seven or eight centimeters away from the bottom. He decisively pulled the bait on the double hooks and began fishing.
Without the disruption of attracting fish with scatter bait at the entrance, Zhang Yang's bait ball on the double hooks had just reached the fish layer when the bobber snapped with a clear half-length deep bite signal.
The current fishing setup uses a 1.2 main line with a 0.8# sub-line, and the bobber takes a lead of 1.5g,
This setup is much more precise than fishing for carp in black pits, and the bait ball on the hook is exceptionally good, so the exit is very crisp.
The first deep bite came out, and Zhang Yang was not in a hurry to lift the rod, patiently waiting for about two or three seconds.
The bobber count continued to descend steadily during this process.
The fishing mark dropped a few more counts, and as expected, the second bite came.
Snap! Another deep bite, although the amplitude of the second bite was slightly smaller, only a small half mark.
Seeing the timing was right, Zhang Yang's wrist shook slightly as he lifted the rod.
Underwater, two fish delivered excellent tactile feedback through the fishing setup, transmitting to the rod tip and then through the rod to his hand.
The first proper catch was a double-tail, with Zhang Yang's wrist fixed, the upper arm driving the forearm to steadily lift the rod.
It took only a few seconds before he used the rod's backbone to lift the two fish hooked above the water.
The fish surfaced, and the next second, Zhang Yang continued powering up with his upper arm, effortlessly lifting the two fish above the water with the Combat Rod's powerful backbone.
At the same time, Zhang Yang's left hand grabbed the landing net handle and tilted the net head to catch the fish.
The two fish drew a graceful smooth arc in the air and precisely landed in the net bag that had already made the catching motion.
The net bag perfectly cushioned the inertia of the two live fish flying over, completing the Flying Copy!
Once the fish were caught, Zhang Yang's left hand held the landing net handle and directly rested on the mouth of the fish keeper.
His left hand pinched the spot behind the fish gill cover, while his right thumb holding the rod gently pressed the hook shank on the fish's mouth, flipping his wrist to throw the fish into the fish keeper, then repeated the process for the next one.
Compared to ordinary anglers who take at least one minute per fish to return, Zhang Yang's Flying Copy technique saves much time, taking less than half a minute to tuck two fish into the keeper, making efficiency twice as fast.
With the hooks removed and the fish stored, Zhang Yang next pinched and separated the sub-lines lightly with his thumb and index finger, pressed the bait onto the hooks, and pulled it gently. Two smooth, plump bait balls were again prepared, and with a flick of the wrist, the rod was cast into the water, starting a new catch.
Seeing this, some may be curious to ask. Previously you said it's not recommended to catch double tails when fishing for carp, so why intentionally catch double tails for crucian carp?
There is a significant rationale behind this, it's not unreasonable.
The carp released in the black pits are relatively large, weighing at least two to three pounds each, two fish would weigh four to five pounds!
Such weight and force, when the fish struggles violently, make it very likely to cross-cut the sub-line, making fish control difficult. The chances of hook disengagement, fish escape, and sub-line cutting are very high, adversely affecting fish catches during fishing.
Conversely, fishing for crucian carp is a different story!
Crucian carp is small in size and power, weighing only seven or eight ounces, even a double tail barely weighs a pound and a half. After a catch, controlling and returning the fish puts much less pressure on line-cutting.
In a fast fish situation, choosing to catch double tails can significantly improve return efficiency, even if not using the advanced fishing technique like Flying Copy. It's still twice as efficient compared to anglers catching single tails.
At the beginning of fishing, anglers' attention was mostly on their own bobber, so Zhang Yang's flashy Flying Copy technique initially went unnoticed.
But after secretly grabbing a dozen fish, the large edge position across the river was the first to notice Zhang Yang's magical fishing method.
"Whoa, Xiao Li!! Look at number one across! What's this fishing method? So cool!"
A young guy on the northern edge greeted his nearby angler friend, pointing at Zhang Yang across, his words tinged with excitement.
"Huh? What?"
The guy on the second edge glanced up and happened to see Zhang Yang using the rod's backbone to lift two crucian carps out of the water, accurately landing in the landing net with a splash.
"Whoa! You can fish crucian carp like this?"
"Do you know this guy? His set of return movements is so cool!"
"Seems to be called Zhang Yang, he runs a fishing gear shop, and organized more than ten people today!!"
As the two whispered, the third angler next to them also noticed Zhang Yang's Flying Copy technique.
In the calls of surprise, soon more than half of the anglers on the northern shore were paying attention.
Over years, the black pit has developed so much that now, if you go to any fishing ground, even a seventy-year-old man can expertly use the Flying Copy technique.
But in the 2012 timeframe, black pit fishing grounds were just emerging, and ordinary anglers were transitioning from lake wild fishing to commercial ponds, their technique levels very primitive.
This fancy technique, not to mention seeing, has never even been heard of!
In a previous life, Zhang Yang did not know who first invented Flying Copy, but in this life, Zhang Yang can confidently say he is currently the number one in Flying Copy.
