Chapter 42 Catching a Little White Mouse

Doctor Shen paid him no mind, respectfully presenting the list he had personally compiled to Lu Qingwan.

"Your Highness, this here contains the prescriptions for the medicinal soups the Prince has been taking for the past six months, the names of the pills, and records of the acupoints and duration for acupuncture treatments."

Upon seeing this, Li Jin quickly added, "Nothing in the room has been touched. Furthermore, subordinates have thoroughly searched the exterior and interior of Wutong Yuan and found nothing unusual."

Lu Qingwan took the list and began to peruse it carefully. Everyone in the room fixed their attention solely on her. After reviewing the entire document, Lu Qingwan suddenly recalled something and asked, "Where is that intelligence report from the Shence Camp?"

Feng Xi Wu's expression shifted slightly. "On the second shelf of the bookshelf, beneath 'Taizu Bing Dian'."

Without further instruction, the guard who had nearly had his belt taken by Lu Qingwan strode over, retrieved the report from the spot Feng Xi Wu indicated, and handed it directly to Lu Qingwan.

The latter took the report, began to examine the sheepskin tube it was stored in, then took out the intelligence report within and said, "Knife." Her words were concise, her hand outstretched. The guard immediately handed her his dagger.

Lu Qingwan carefully slit open the sheepskin tube along its seam. Swarms of tiny red insects scattered outwards.

"Get back!" Lu Qingwan yelled, retreating rapidly. The guard snatched a wine jar from the bookshelf and smashed it to the ground. With a spark from a tinderbox, flames mixed with the scent of wine instantly engulfed the entire table. Lu Qingwan, seizing the distraction, took out a bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid and splashed it onto the remaining insects. The horrifying swarm finally vanished from sight.

Li Yang rubbed goosebumps from his arm and asked, "Your Highness, what was that?"

"I was too focused on burning it to get a clear look," Lu Qingwan replied, still feeling disgusted, trying to calm herself. The guard who had set the fire and burned the insects, however, held up a small bottle. "If Your Highness is interested in studying them further, there are a few more here."

Lu Qingwan looked at him with an unreadable expression. "Are you a doctor too?"

The guard stood up straight, cupped his fist formally, and said, "This subordinate, Li Qing, greets Your Highness."

Li Yang explained from the side, "Your Highness, he's not a doctor; he's just quick. He does everything a step faster than others."

"That's a good habit." Lu Qingwan took the small bottle, her eyes flickering. She looked at Feng Xi Wu and said, "What's on your face isn't poison, it's Gu, right?"

"It is poison, and it is Gu," Feng Xi Wu didn't hide anything from her. "Gu is the source of all evil. To control the Gu, I regularly take a type of medicine that is a life-saving elixir for me, but a deadly poison for others."

"Poison is poison. No matter what, it won't turn into a life-saving elixir." Lu Qingwan stood up, holding Doctor Shen's list. "The medicinal bath will be finished in another quarter of an hour. After washing up, try using your internal energy. If your internal organs and meridians feel no obstruction or stinging sensation, you need not worry for the time being. If you do, come find me again."

The spatial laboratory was a growth-type space. Only when she had directly or indirectly encountered a certain illness and resolved it reasonably could the spatial laboratory provide corresponding treatment plans and medications based on the data. Gu poison was something that existed purely in legends, hence the spatial laboratory had failed to identify it. Lu Qingwan, a scientific eccentric, felt a twinge of desire, even wanting to capture Feng Xi Wu to use as her test subject. If she could resolve this Gu for Feng Xi Wu herself this time, then she would be completely worry-free when encountering Gu poison in the future. Thinking of this, Lu Qingwan suddenly regretted giving the subsidiary Gu of the Love-Sickness Gu to Lan Yu Ru so easily before. If she hadn't relied on Da Bai, would this situation have been so troublesome without the Love-Sickness Gu?

Her absentmindedness resulted in her almost tripping as she exited. Steadying herself by holding onto the doorframe, she looked down to see what had nearly tripped her and met a pair of bright, round eyes. The adorable little boy was like a miniature version of Feng Xi Wu. Unfully developed, his head, eyes, nose, and mouth were all round and chubby, like a doll from a New Year's painting had stepped out. The child wore a small black robe with gold trim, a jade pendant around his waist, his hair meticulously styled. He was clutching his forehead, blinking at her.

Lu Qingwan, an aging single woman, was so smitten her heart quivered. She no longer felt the urge to study the Gu insects. She squatted down to be at eye level with the child and said, "Little one, why are you here by yourself? Are you looking for your dad, no, are you looking for your father?"

The child glared at her with his big eyes and didn't reply. Lu Qingwan couldn't resist her mischievous urge and pinched the child's cheek. Just as she imagined, it was soft and smooth, with a great texture! The child's face turned red with embarrassment as he dodged backward. "Bad woman, you stole my father, and now you're teasing me! I'm going to tell my father to divorce you!"

Tsk, a truly incorrigible child, threatening divorce at the drop of a hat, like a scummy man. Lu Qingwan regretfully withdrew her hand. "I'm truly sorry, but I, this bad woman, am very good at charming people. Your father definitely won't divorce me. As for the person who's been fanning the flames in your ear, they probably won't be staying in this mansion for long!" This child sneaking into Wutong Yuan must be Feng Xi Wu's youngest son, no doubt. However, it was interesting that a four-year-old would call her a bad woman and tell Feng Xi Wu to divorce her. She mischievously pinched the little fellow's cheek again. "I'm teasing you, so what!" Although young, the child held a noble status and had never encountered someone like Lu Qingwan who repeatedly bullied children. His eyes blinked rapidly, and then he burst into tears. Lu Qingwan was dumbfounded. She was good at playing with children, but she was truly terrible at pacifying them!

As she stood there bewildered, a woman in a pink skirt rushed over, pushed Lu Qingwan aside, scooped up the child, and began wiping his tears with practiced ease, murmuring softly, "Your Highness, don't cry, Aunt Qing is here, don't cry!" Then she shrilly demanded, "What did you do to His Highness?"

Lu Qingwan stumbled from the push and scoffed, "At the entrance to the Prince's study, what do you think I could have done to him?" The hostility from this woman was almost written all over her face upon their first meeting. Lu Qingwan couldn't help but suspect that the child's accusations of her being a bad woman and telling Feng Xi Wu to divorce her were taught by this woman standing before her.

The woman continued to argue, "Who knows what you did to His Highness? You've only just entered the mansion, and you have no children of your own, yet the Prince has already conferred the title of His Highness. I daresay you have no capacity for tolerance!" The woman acted like a proud peacock, believing she had struck a nerve. To her surprise, Lu Qingwan smiled brilliantly. "So, you know I am the Princess?"

"And what if I do?" The woman continued to stick her neck out, as if that would give her more courage.
