Master Luo Yu

Chapter 84 - 84 Sheriff Cohen

「A long while later, Jessica reopened her eyes.」

"Mr. Chu Feng, the Spiritual Power inside me has increased so much!" Jessica exclaimed, hopping down from the table with a delighted expression as she looked at Chu Feng.

"Yes, when your initial Spiritual Power base is so small, this kind of increase is normal."

Rendered momentarily speechless by Chu Feng's blunt assessment, Jessica sheepishly sat back down in her chair.

"Right, there's something you must remember. We need to keep the fact that ordinary people can awaken Spiritual Power a secret in the early stages. Recruiting can be done slowly; there's no need to rush."

"But if we do that, I'm afraid progress will be very slow."

"Being slow is much better than being targeted by the American government or those big shots. We still need to bide our time."

Jessica nodded slightly. Having grown up in America and received higher education, she naturally understood the true nature of her country.

I wonder how much longer we'll have to wait...

"Don't worry, it should be very soon!" Knowing that Hell was drawing ever closer, Chu Feng felt as if he could already foresee the immense changes about to sweep the Human World.

BRRRING... The landline phone, which had been pushed to the edge of the desk, suddenly rang.

"Hello, Sanford Police Department..."

The rookie policewoman, newly an Exorcist, immediately went to answer the phone, showing a commendable sense of duty.

"Okay, I'll wait for you guys to come over!"

After putting down the phone, Jessica looked hesitantly at Chu Feng.

"Mr. Chu Feng, may I keep my job at the police department?"

"Becoming a police officer has been my dream since I was little, and it can also serve as a cover for the work at the Exorcism Agency."

"Hmm... that could work. After all, having an Exorcist cop in the agency sounds pretty cool!"

Chu Feng nodded. Looking at the cheerfully smiling Jessica, he furrowed his brows slightly and asked, "However, are you sure you can handle everything?"

"No problem! I don't have a boyfriend anyway, and my mom is going to New York. There's not much to do at home!"

"That's really nice!"

Looking at Jessica, who was spirited and seemed to have awakened to a saintly work ethic, infused with new vigor.

As her boss, Chu Feng was clearly very happy. This kind of employee is so satisfying!

Looking up at the wall clock, it was already four in the morning.

"The people you're waiting for are about to arrive!"

"Yeah, the ones who just called were them, the janitors who come to collect the waste from the police station." Unaware of the oddity in Chu Feng's words, Jessica replied instinctively.

After a short while, the doors of the police station were pushed open, and several janitors in yellow uniforms walked in. They greeted Jessica before starting their work.

Strange, why hasn't Chief Cohen arrived yet? The policewoman looked puzzled at the wall clock; they were supposed to change shifts at four.

Chu Feng, with an indifferent expression, said, "He's already here, but he's just observing the situation in the police station!"

Chu Feng's Spiritual Perception now reached over thirty meters. He had noticed the dim, lurking shadow outside the police station as soon as all the janitors had entered.

"He's here? Then why doesn't he come in?"

"Of course, he wants to see how far along the ritual process is!"

"What? Mr. Chu Feng, are you saying that Chief Cohen, like those three bizarre creatures, is a cultist who worships Paimon?" Jessica's face filled with disbelief.

"Of course. Haven't you ever wondered how absurd it is for a rookie, on her first day, to be left alone on the last shift at the old police station?"

After hearing Chu Feng's question, Jessica murmured in a daze, I thought it was a test for new recruits at the police station...

Watching the stunned Jessica, Chu Feng continued:

"In fact, from the moment you entered the police station and met the man you call Chief Cohen, you had already been chosen as a sacrifice for Paimon. That's why you were left here alone and forbidden from leaving the police station before four in the morning."

Jessica, who had felt something was off about Chief Cohen's behavior and words ever since she reported for duty, was now fully jolted awake to the truth.

A sudden surge of rage filled her heart. She pulled out her service pistol, ready to go and settle the score.

"Mr. Chu Feng, where is that damned old man?"

Looking at Jessica, who was now like a lioness, Chu Feng chuckled softly, "Follow me..."

After speaking, he led the way out of the police station.

「Meanwhile, outside the police station.」

An emaciated, white-haired old man in a police uniform stared at the brightly lit station, his deeply lined face etched with confusion.

What's going on? Hasn't the sacrificial ritual begun?

After observing from the outside for a long time, Chief Cohen finally decided to enter the station to check on the situation.

It was just past four in the morning in Sanford; the sky had only just begun to lighten. Chief Cohen cautiously approached the main entrance of the station.

Through the glass of the door, he saw the busy cleaning staff inside.

What on earth is happening? What in the world are those three accursed things up to?

Chief Cohen was utterly puzzled, not understanding what those three Evil Spirits from the Cult were up to.

Wanting to check on the sacrifice, he immediately pushed open the main door of the station and walked in.

"Cohen! You damned old thing, you actually dare to come here!"

Chief Cohen hadn't expected that just as he entered the police station, he would come face-to-face with Chu Feng and Jessica, who had just emerged from the duty room.

Cohen instantly recognized Chu Feng, America's First Exorcist. Seeing the pistol-wielding policewoman charging aggressively toward him, he immediately realized the sacrificial ritual had failed.

"Officer Jessica, I am ordering you to put down your gun!" he yelled, drawing his own pistol and aiming it at the rapidly approaching Jessica.

Realizing he was exposed, Cohen could only hope that the two people before him would be deterred by his status as an American police chief.

HEH.

Watching the Satan-worshipping cultist, who was clearly all bark and no bite, Chu Feng let out a scornful snort from behind.

With a slight movement of his foot, Chu Feng's figure vanished from the spot.

BANG!

After the loud noise, Chief Cohen, who had just raised his pistol in warning, was sent flying out of the police station door amid a shower of glass shards.

Chu Feng reappeared and slowly walked towards the cultist on the ground, who was struggling to crawl toward his fallen pistol.

As he passed, Chu Feng stomped on the dropped service pistol, crushing it into a pile of broken parts on the floor. Seeing the despair in the cultist's eyes, a faint smile played on Chu Feng's lips.

"Come on, Jessica, I'm leaving him to you!"

Hearing Chu Feng's call, Jessica, her service pistol in hand, hurried over.

CLICK.

With a swift motion, she chambered a round. The dark muzzle of her pistol was now aimed directly at the cultist on the ground, who had no strength left to resist.
