Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Song Yun Defies Song Kai
Huo Feng exhaled, his expression tightening with sorry.
"Yes," he admitted at last. He looked at Yue Ning again. "Are you sure it was him you saw?" he pressed, needing confirmation from her.
Yue Ning nodded slowly. Huo Feng clenched his fists, a heavy breath escaping his lips.
Yue Ning studied his face, and a bad feeling stirred in her chest.
"You know him, don’t you?" she asked quietly.
Huo Feng chuckled faintly and lowered himself onto the bed. "I don’t just know him... he was a very good friend of mine." Nostalgia clouded his gaze as he stared up at the ceiling.
Yue Ning sensed there was more to it than just simple friendship.
Huo Feng noticed the curiosity in her eyes.
"Do you want to hear a story?" he asked softly, and she nodded without hesitation.
With a sigh, he drew her naturally into his arms. "There were once two fine young men who were very my d good friends," he began, and Yue Ning listened with rapt attention.

The next day, Yue Ning and Huo Feng walked hand in hand to the dining table.
Huo Yan’s eyes flashed with mischief as she watched them settle in their respective seats.
"Brother, you’re quite good," she teased as the couple sat down.
Huo Feng glanced at her calmly, one brow arched. "What do you mean?"
Yue Ning tilted her head curiously, wondering what the younger girl was up to.
"It hasn’t even been three months since you and Sister-in-law signed the marriage papers, and you’re already holding her hand like this. Impressive." She rubbed her hands, feeling impressed.
"It’s none of your business what I do with my wife," Huo Feng shot back, making Huo Yan stick out her tongue playfully.
Yue Ning chuckled, but a flush quickly crept over her pale skin, making the redness stand out clearly.
Huo Yan noticed at once, a mischievous glint sparking in her eyes. She leaned closer to Yue Ning, grinning mischievously.
"Sister-in-law, you have no idea what my brother said yesterday morning," she whispered conspiratorially.
Yue Ning’s brows rose. A bad feeling coiled in her stomach, but her curiosity won. "What did he say?"
Huo Feng gave his sister a warning glance, but she wasn’t the least fazed. She would do as she pleased.
With an exaggerated seriousness, Huo Yan repeated Huo Feng’s words from the morning before. Yue Ning pictured him saying it and couldn’t hold back—she burst into laughter.
Huo Feng flushed and raised his bowl of soup to his lips, hiding his embarrassment.
"Sister-in-law, did I say something funny?" Huo Yan asked innocently while wondering what caused her to burst into laughter.
Still laughing, Yue Ning shook her head. "It’s just... this is the first time I’ve ever seen your brother shy. His face is all red."
Huo Yan glanced at him and couldn’t resist. She chuckled, then broke into full-blown laughter, while Huo Feng’s ears turned even redder.
-----------------------
While laughter filled the Huo household, the Song residence carried a much darker mood.
Song Yun descended the stairs in his pajamas, entering the dining room with lazy steps.
Song Kai sat at the head of the table, calmly having his breakfast. Song Yun rolled his eyes, didn’t utter a word of greeting before he dropped into a seat at the opposite end.
"You can’t even greet?" Song Kai asked coldly, his eyes flashing with something strange in them
"I’m not interested in trading words with you today," Song Yun retorted, waving off the maid who tried to serve him.
Song Kai’s eyes narrowed, but he noted his brother’s pajamas.
"Why aren’t you dressed yet?" He demanded.
"I’m not going to college," Song Yun answered flatly, scooping a spoonful of congee.
Danger flickered in Song Kai’s eyes as he leaned back, cupping his chin. "And why not?"
Song Yun stayed silent. The truth was, he had no real reason—he simply wanted to defy his brother.
Song Kai’s lips curved faintly. "You have no reason, yet you insist on defying me. Tell me, Yun, why do you enjoy going against me so much?"
Still, Song Yun said nothing as he focused on having breakfast. Song Kai didn’t press him for answers.
"After breakfast, you’ll freshen up and go to class," Song Kai ordered, rising to his feet. "Damien will accompany you."
Song Yun’s eyes burned red, his features twisting with rage. "Why Damien?" He questioned loudly.
The maids who were around all shrank back, while wishing they could make themselves invisible. The brothers were at it again with their quarrel. It seemed like a normal routine in the household.
"To keep an eye on you," Song Kai replied coldly. "I cannot trust you." With that, he left the dining room, ignoring his brother’s glare.
"Darn it." He cursed under his breath.
After breakfast, Song Yun reluctantly prepared for college. Damien, the stoic family driver, was already waiting.
As the car rolled forward, Song Yun broke the silence. "Do you know which college my brother enrolled me into?"
"Shenghua University," Damien answered plainly.
"Shenghua University..." Song Yun repeated, his brows furrowed. Then his eyes lit up suddenly. He fumbled through his phone until he found what he was looking for, and a wide smile broke across his face.
"Drive faster, will you?" he urged, his attention still on the phone.
Damien blinked, feeling puzzled. Only moments ago the young master had no interest in college. What had changed?
Thirty minutes later, the car pulled up in front of Shenghua University’s grand gates.
Before Damien could even park, Song Yun had already jumped out. Damien narrowed his eyes, sending a quick text to Song Kai.
Song Yun, oblivious, dialed a number. Though his lips were pressed tightly, excitement gleamed in his eyes.
When the call connected, his voice was bright with eagerness. "I’m here already."
His smile drew stares from the girls around him, who gushed openly. But Song Yun’s eyes ignored them all—his gaze already finding who he was looking for.
Song Yun’s heart rate quickened as the girl waved at him.
"Huo Yan," he muttered under his breath, a smile still on his lips.
