Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Going Home to Discuss
The broker’s carriage was a horse-drawn one. It wasn’t particularly luxurious and looked somewhat worn-out, but it was evidently much faster than their ox cart when it ran.
Lin Sanshui cupped his fists towards Xie Zhou, "Xie, my two sons are still waiting for us at the town entrance. I must trouble you to stop there briefly so I can speak with them."
"Sure." Xie Zhou replied, lifting the curtain of the carriage and instructing the driver outside.
Dahu and Erhu had been waiting at the town entrance for a while now. Suddenly, a horse-drawn carriage stopped beside them. The curtain was lifted a bit, and a head popped out. Who else could it be but their father!
"Dahu, come with me to handle something. Erhu, you take Pandi back home first." Lin Sanshui didn’t elaborate on the reason and spoke directly.
"Okay." Dahu patted Erhu’s shoulder without saying much more. He got off the ox cart and walked over.
He didn’t get into the carriage but instead sat on the edge outside with the driver.
As she watched the carriage leave first, Lin Pandi wondered where they were going but didn’t ask because she knew she wasn’t in a position to inquire.
The carriage swayed along the road for more than half an hour before they got off. Xie Zhou led Lin Sanshui ahead, introducing the place along the way.
Dahu, who hadn’t been home for a month, immediately lifted Gu Nian, planting a silly kiss on her cheek, "Little sister, did you remember to miss your big brother at home?"
Gu Nian wiped the saliva off her face in distaste but then replaced it with a broad smile, "I did! Did big brother have a good time at the restaurant? Have you been studying cooking seriously?"
"Of course, I have." As he spoke of this, Dahu’s face was filled with pride, in stark contrast to the bitterness from last time, "My cooking skills have improved a lot since before. I’ll cook for you when I return home, alright?"
"Alright." Gu Nian nodded approvingly.
"Little sister, is our dad planning to buy land?" Dahu asked quietly.
Gu Nian nodded, "Yes, but we haven’t decided where to buy yet, so we came to take a look first."
Dahu glanced around, noticing the fields were indeed good. The millet planted in the fields had already formed ears and would be ready for harvest in about a month.
Judging from the growth state of the millet, one could tell the owner had tended to it with care, hence the land was exceptionally fertile.
However, "There’s quite a bit of land here, isn’t there? Where did our family get the silver to buy land?"
When the ginseng was sold, Dahu wasn’t home. He only knew about the silver made from selling honey and peaches, which would at most buy one or two acres. Was it worth having the broker involved?
Gu Nian didn’t explain further and instead whispered into his ear, "This is not the place to talk. I’ll tell you when we get back home."
Dahu nodded, set Gu Nian back on the ground, and like Lin Sanshui, observed the land.
In terms of farming, Gu Nian had no experience and could only follow behind them, trying to make sense of what they were saying.
Fortunately, Lin Sanshui was an old hand at this; by grabbing a handful of soil and looking at it, he could get a general idea.
Having walked around most of the area and seen enough, Lin Sanshui spoke to Xie Zhou, "Xie, I’ve looked at the land, and it is indeed good. However, buying land is a big decision, I need to go back and discuss it with my family. Once we’ve decided, I’ll come to find you. What do you think?"
