"Do you think the door above is safe?" Professor Lin asked Zhou Lin in a low voice.
"Of course, and it's quite easy to open." Zhou Lin walked forward and kicked the bronze door lightly. The entire bronze door opened smoothly, revealing a damp smell and some accumulated snow behind it.
The mercenaries watched Zhou Lin's miraculous kick, their curiosity about his strength piqued. Even with intensified training, they might not achieve such a result.
"What are you waiting for? Let's go?" Zhou Lin smiled and stepped inside first. A cool breeze greeted them from behind the stone door. Elder Tang and Professor Lin tightened their clothes.
In the live stream:
"Our boss is amazing, kicking open a bronze door with one kick. I can at most break a bone with one kick..."
"Haha, don't compare yourself to the boss. You can't compare. Don't you know that?"
"Now I know. This is the difference."
"Exactly, this is the difference."
"But why was this door so easily kicked open? Can anyone explain?"
"Unsolvable..."
...
Captain Lin, standing beside Zhou Lin, shone his flashlight around. The surroundings were a stone wall, like a chiseled cave with traces of excavation. Professor Lin and Elder Tang also looked around. As the flashlight's faint beam swept across, a white figure suddenly flashed by. It moved incredibly fast.
Both of them thought they had seen wrong and looked at each other in disbelief. "Elder Tang, did you see it? Did I see it wrong?" Professor Lin asked with a trembling voice.
"I saw it. It shouldn't be an illusion, right?" Elder Tang wasn't entirely sure and dared not give a definitive answer.
As they were still uncertain, they saw the white figure appear again, flashing by once more. "I'm not hallucinating, I really saw it." Professor Lin looked excitedly in the direction ahead, his eyes wide open.
The professor of metaphysics beside them looked at Professor Lin and Elder Tang's expressions with confusion. Following their gaze, he saw nothing. "What's wrong with you two? What's making you so excited?" the professor of metaphysics asked, completely bewildered.
Not only him, but the archaeological team members behind them also looked at Professor Lin with suspicion. When the mercenaries heard Professor Lin's voice, they were already on high alert and had already aimed their guns forward. But there was nothing in front of them, and their eyes showed doubt.
Just then—
"Ah..." Everyone gasped, staring in shock at the white figure that flashed by. Their hearts tightened. Damn, what is going on? What the hell, is this a ghost? What is this white figure? What the hell is this thing?
"Professor..." The archaeological team members instinctively stood by Professor Lin, their eyes filled with fear, their hands trembling as they clutched his clothes. The mercenaries were also bewildered by the sight. What was happening?
As everyone watched the white figure, cold sweat broke out on their bodies. The atmosphere here made it impossible to ignore. Who wouldn't find this terrifying?
In the live stream:
"Holy crap, did I just see a ghost? What was that that just flashed by?"
"It didn't look human. I saw it just now. The body was quite tall, too tall to be human."
"Could it be another creature?"
"But if it's a creature, why isn't it attacking the boss and the others? Why is it hiding?"
...
Inside the tomb:
Zhou Lin looked at everyone's terrified expressions and then glanced ahead. "If you want to know what it is, we'll find out when we go and see, won't we?" Zhou Lin smiled at their faces and walked forward.
He saw a staircase in the cave, leading down with stone steps. Without hesitation, Zhou Lin descended. Professor Lin, Elder Tang, and the others followed closely, mainly out of fear of encountering something unpleasant later.
Following the steps down, they found themselves amidst giant trees with dilapidated treehouses. Zhou Lin stood at the foot of one of the large trees. He looked up at the trees, which were all dry and devoid of leaves. The species of these trees couldn't be identified at a glance.
Behind him, the professor of metaphysics, Professor Lin, Elder Tang, and the others also descended and looked at the scene in shock. "Are these treehouses?" Professor Lin asked in disbelief. But why would there be treehouses here? And what was that white thing inside the treehouse?
"Professor, this is my first time seeing so many treehouses, but what is this white, fluffy thing?" The archaeological team members behind them were stunned by the sight.
"These are creatures..." Zhou Lin spoke before Professor Lin or Elder Tang could.
"Not treehouses? How can there be creatures? Professor Zhou, you're joking." The mercenaries looked at Zhou Lin, unconvinced.
"Don't believe me? Then wait and see." Zhou Lin suddenly shouted. "Come out."
Zhou Lin's voice echoed through the forest. Then, the white, fluffy things in the treehouses began to move, emerging one by one from the treehouses. Professor Lin, Elder Tang, the professor of metaphysics, the archaeological team members, and the mercenaries watched as white figures appeared from the treehouses.
These were white monkeys, but on their arms, one was covered in frost, while the other radiated heat, like a red-hot iron. They looked at everyone with fierce eyes. Soon, a large group of white monkeys appeared. Professor Lin and Elder Tang looked at the monkeys with ill intentions, their teeth bared, their eyes scarlet. They clearly looked angry. This was truly a death trap.
The mercenaries shielded the professors and the archaeological team behind them, their weapons held ready to fire. Professor Lin and Elder Tang's faces were pale, especially when they saw these monkeys. It was obvious that the monkeys' gaze towards them was hostile. Just one look sent shivers down their spines, and they regretted looking. Those eyes were terrifying.
"What's going on with these monkeys? Why are they different from the monkeys we've seen? And their hands... why are they two different colors?" an archaeological team member muttered.
"You should ask this monkey..."
