Someone suddenly spoke, and everyone quickly turned their gaze to the centipedes opposite them, only to see the red light on these centipedes constantly diminishing.
The centipedes around them were also retreating in an orderly fashion.
The team members, who had been uncertain before, were instantly dumbfounded upon seeing this scene. What was going on?
Had Professor Zhou Lin been right after all?
Were these things really leaving just like that?
But what was the situation?
"Professor Zhou Lin, why is this happening?"
A team member looked at him in surprise.
"You'll know in a moment. Get up now and follow along. Also, listen to my commands. When I say run, you all run with me."
Zhou Lin quickly got up and explained to everyone.
However, before they could fully understand what was happening, they saw Zhou Lin already walking forward, leaving them no choice but to follow.
As these centipedes sensed someone approaching, the starlight that had diminished earlier reappeared.
"Run."
With Zhou Lin's command, the mercenaries and archaeological team members behind him ran without a word, with the centipedes following closely.
Upon contact with the cinnabar, they stopped again.
A few centipedes accidentally fell and died.
The Xuanxue Professor was about to collect one of these creatures, but Zhou Lin stopped him.
"This thing isn't worth your research for now. Let's wait."
Zhou Lin had just accepted Elder Tang's money and needed to bring something back for research, contributing to the country. Such a thing was rare.
"Okay."
The Xuanxue Professor's eyes lit up at the words, and he quickly agreed.
The centipedes retreated again, and Zhou Lin led the group to follow.
"Run!"
"Run!"
"Run!"
Half an hour later.
"Professor Zhou Lin, what exactly are you trying to do?"
One of the archaeological team members was panting, his knees still bearing some wounds from accidental injuries sustained during the repeated running.
He was both tired and in pain.
He didn't understand what Zhou Lin was doing.
Elder Tang, Professor Lin, and the Xuanxue Professor were in the same state, but they didn't have time to ask. They could only catch their breath first.
The mercenaries behind them, however, were not out of breath. They waited quietly for Zhou Lin's response, never asking questions.
No matter what Zhou Lin asked them to do, they wouldn't question it.
"You'll know in a moment. Follow me then."
Zhou Lin's gaze remained fixed on the centipedes opposite him. Seeing that they had all disappeared, he walked forward with his flashlight.
The group behind him had a stomach full of questions but couldn't ask directly, so they could only follow.
In the live stream.
"Damn, don't say these people are tired, I'm tired just watching. What is this big shot trying to do? Running back and forth, what's the point?"
"This big shot is feinting, the goal is to eliminate their vigilance. These centipedes may look small, but they are very intelligent."
"My god, I've been watching for a long time and I don't understand, but you do. You're amazing."
"It's not that I'm amazing, it's a tactic. It can remove the vigilance of many people. This is the best way, but this situation can only be temporary."
"Regardless, this big shot is smart. If it were me, I'd probably have to turn back right away."
"No, no, if it were you, you'd probably have been eaten at the beginning. You wouldn't have had the chance to get this far."
...
Inside the tomb.
Zhou Lin led the group downwards and saw an opening. The centipedes from before had all disappeared.
Upon seeing this, Elder Tang and Professor Lin exchanged a knowing glance.
They finally understood why Zhou Lin had kept them running back and forth. It was a test, to see what these creatures would do to them.
That's why they kept testing.
Zhou Lin was indeed very clever.
But...
"Professor Zhou Lin, you have so many treasures on you, why don't you just use them? Why can't that vacuum cleaner be used?"
Elder Tang didn't quite understand.
"Elder Tang, if it were just me, it would be easy to get past these things. But you all can't. These things will harm you, and I can't risk your lives."
"Besides, the Xuanxue Professor seems very interested in these things and wants to take some back for research."
Zhou Lin naturally wanted to use the vacuum cleaner, but if he did, it would be gone. What then?
The Xuanxue Professor looked at him gratefully.
"But why is it so dark inside? There were red starlights before, but what's the situation now?"
Captain Lin had great respect for Zhou Lin, always supporting him no matter what he did or how he did it.
But the centipedes were clearly hiding in here, so why was there nothing now?
Were they all asleep? That couldn't be right.
"Be quiet in a moment, you'll know when we go in."
Zhou Lin put away his flashlight and slowly stepped inside.
"Professor Zhou Lin, turn off the flashlight, how are we supposed to see the way?"
Captain Lin looked at him suspiciously.
"Dim your lights a little. I don't need a flashlight."
Zhou Lin said calmly and walked in.
Captain Lin and the other team members dimmed their flashlights to the lowest setting, just enough to see if there were any obstacles on the ground. Any more detail was impossible.
They couldn't see anything else.
Zhou Lin walked as if on level ground, accurately avoiding the centipedes on the floor even without a flashlight.
The entire space was dark, and nothing could be seen. Even their footsteps became much quieter.
The viewers in the live stream also began to empathize, not daring to breathe.
"Oh my god, I'm not even there, but why am I being so cautious? I can't even cough, for fear of waking those things up!"
"Who isn't? If you hadn't typed, I would have forgotten. I'm so nervous. Are these centipedes asleep?"
"They must be. Let's not wake them up, or the entire archaeological team will be in danger."
"Wow, this is more thrilling than watching a horror movie. My nerves are completely taut, it's so exciting."
