Chapter 63 Who Exactly is Leng Xunze

"Tall but thin, average looking, neither handsome nor ugly," An Xi said indifferently.

This was nothing like Leng Xunze!

Leng Xunze was tall and imposing, with a strikingly handsome face!

Lin Xiangsi felt a wave of dizziness.

Could it be that the person she married was not Young Master Leng?

Then what was his purpose? Or rather, what did he want to use her for?

Wen Yan felt the world spinning, her understanding of reality shattered.

"What's wrong? Why are you suddenly asking this?"

An Xi's sharp gaze seemed to pierce through her. Wen Yan snapped back to reality, a bitter smile on her lips. "It's nothing."

In truth, she felt it was very much something.

Wen Yan didn't know how she left the restaurant. She had intended to go home, but her destination shifted to the construction site. Construction was halfway done, and many workers were busy.

Not far away, several figures stood out, tall and straight, completely out of place in their surroundings.

Leng Xunze held a cigarette between his long, slender fingers, his voice indifferent. "Still no progress?"

"Boss, I've investigated. I can only confirm that what you're looking for is definitely in Haicheng, but there's still no clue about the exact location."

Leng Xunze's voice turned cold. "Then keep looking."

A sudden ferocity erupted from him, startling the few men, who quickly responded.

Smoke swirled around, making his handsome face appear even more mysterious and alluring.

Suddenly, a voice called out from the side, "Careful!"

He looked over to see a piece of broken brick falling from above, directly towards a woman standing below.

Her slender figure caught Leng Xunze's eye.

Such incidents were common on construction sites.

But Wen Yan had entered without a hard hat.

Wen Yan hadn't expected to be so unlucky. That falling brick would have surely cracked her skull. She instinctively dodged, and in the next second, she crashed into a warm, familiar, sturdy embrace.

The embrace lasted only a second before she was pushed away. The man's expression and aura were low. "What are you thinking? Why didn't you wear a hat when you came in?"

Being scolded, Wen Yan couldn't help but feel wronged. Looking at his familiar, handsome face, her eyes welled up.

Her teary eyes shimmered. Leng Xunze realized he had lost his composure.

That scene had been too dangerous.

"Sorry, I was in a hurry," Leng Xunze said, his arm around her waist, his tone softening. "It's a construction site, accidents happen easily. Don't be so reckless next time."

He said this because he was worried about her. Wen Yan felt a warmth spread through her, and she said softly, "I wanted to come find you. I wasn't paying attention. I'm sorry."

She glanced at the people over there.

"What were you guys talking about?"

"Work stuff," Leng Xunze replied casually. "I'm a foreman now, so there's more responsibility."

Wen Yan pursed her lips, keenly noticing the scrape on his arm, which he had sustained protecting her from the falling brick.

"Do you have a first-aid kit here?" Wen Yan asked nervously, looking at him.

Leng Xunze also noticed his arm.

"It's a minor injury, I can handle it myself. Did you need something from me?"

"Let me treat it for you," Wen Yan insisted. Men were often careless, and wounds could easily become infected if not treated properly.

Leng Xunze had no choice but to lead Wen Yan into a makeshift tin shed.

Although it was simple, it was fully equipped. Wen Yan opened the first-aid kit and carefully cleaned the sand from his wound.

While cleaning, she noticed other scars.

Some were relatively new, while others were old.

"Construction sites are so dangerous, why do you still work here?" Wen Yan asked, her heart aching.

"It's dangerous, but it pays well," Leng Xunze said lightly, seemingly unconcerned. "How many jobs pay this well these days?"

"Didn't you study finance in your family before?" Wen Yan asked.

Meeting his dark, deep eyes, she suddenly felt guilty.

She was prying.

"I did," Leng Xunze replied concisely. "But even after studying, the family business still went bankrupt. Doing physical labor without thinking too much is quite good."

"Oh... but your sudden downfall, it must have been hard to adjust. Haven't you thought about making a comeback?" Wen Yan asked again.

Leng Xunze stared into her eyes.

Wen Yan's gaze flickered away.

"You feel embarrassed being with me, don't you?" Leng Xunze suddenly asked.

"Of course not," Wen Yan quickly replied. "I just think you're working too hard, and I'm afraid you're not used to such a change."

She bit her lip after speaking.

Indeed, any young master from a prominent family would find it difficult to accept the decline of their family and end up as a laborer!

He really didn't seem like a Leng family young master.

Then who had she married, and what was his true identity?

"You don't need to explain, I understand," the man's voice was somewhat dejected. "You must be very disappointed. You could have been the envied Mrs. Leng, but now you're married to a construction worker..."

Her soft hand suddenly covered his mouth.

Wen Yan looked at him with clear, bright eyes. "Don't say that. I'm very happy and content being with you. I'm not used to a life of luxury either. Someone like you is just right."

They gazed at each other for a long time, the air seeming to grow thick.

Leng Xunze slowly nodded.

The intertwined breaths became more intense.

Just as their lips were about to meet, the woman's voice suddenly rang out:

"You're not the Leng family's young master, are you?"

Leng Xunze opened his eyes and met the girl's determined gaze.

"How did you know?"

She hadn't expected him to admit it so readily and frankly!

Wen Yan, however, felt flustered.

"Then why did you lie to me? Where is the Leng family's young master?" she asked, suddenly feeling like a stranger to the husband she had known for so long.

The man sighed. "You're truly naive."

"The Leng family heir did disappear, but I am still alive."

"Because I was never the Leng family heir, but merely an illegitimate son. Didn't the Li family tell you these things?"

Leng Xunze looked at her, his eyes calm.

An illegitimate son? This was something Wen Yan had never expected. She then heard Leng Xunze say, "I thought you knew all along. If you regret it, we can divorce anytime."

A fleeting sadness seemed to pass through the man's dark eyes, causing Wen Yan's heart to ache. She immediately felt guilty for having doubted Leng Xunze and quickly said, "I'm sorry, it was my mistake. I was just asking casually, I didn't mean anything else. Since we're married, I want to live well with you."

"Don't force yourself," the man said, his gaze drifting away sadly. "You said last time that we were friends. If you want a divorce, just tell me anytime."

Wen Yan was anxious. "I'm not forcing myself at all! I just lost your bracelet and felt bad, I was afraid you'd be angry..."

"Will you say that again in the future?"

"No more," Wen Yan shook her head like a rattle drum, not noticing a hint of a smile in the man's eyes.

The next second, her head was cupped, and a wet, lingering kiss descended. Wen Yan quickly became lost in his tender embrace, but her mind remained clear. She pushed Leng Xunze away.
