Chapter 1 The Apocalypse Arrives

The boundless universe, silent and still, all planets orbiting in order along their respective paths.

But accidents always happen unexpectedly. Two meteors collided, exploding and turning into dust.

The force generated by the collision caused a slight deviation in the orbital path of a nearby, normally functioning green planet.

Then, a strong interstellar hurricane passed by, blowing the dust left by the meteor explosion towards the planet that had deviated from its orbit.

"So comfortable?"

Mingyue, deep in her sleep, felt a familiar primordial aura envelop her. She murmured in her dream and drifted back to slumber.

In her dreams, she returned to the primordial era, to her homeland.

She did not belong here. She was merely a wisp of a soul possessing another's body, the Witch Clan princess from the primordial era, Mingyue.

The original owner of the body, also named Mingyue, had died a month prior.

Mingyue was born from Pangu's last drop of essence blood. She took form ten thousand years later than other great witches and ancestral witches.

Although she couldn't devour the heavens and earth, manipulate wind, water, thunder, and lightning, or move mountains and seas and change the sky and earth like other ancestral witches.

Yet, because she was born cute and lovely, and like Father God Pangu, she was human in form.

Therefore, everyone in the Witch Clan doted on her, and she was chosen as the princess of the Witch Clan.

She lived in the primordial era for ten thousand years. Later, during the war between the Witches and the Demons, Mingyue, as a princess of the Witch Clan, naturally participated.

At the end of the great war, the ancestral witches and great witches self-destructed, perishing together with the Demon Clan. Mingyue believed she was bound to die.

Who knew that when she woke up, she was still alive, having entered someone else's body, while the original owner had died suddenly.

This was the Tianlong Planet, with countries similar to primordial tribes. The place she was currently in was called Linhai City, belonging to Yan Country.

There was no spiritual energy here, no witchcraft, only high technology everywhere.

Fortunately, she had the memories of the original owner in her mind, so she wasn't completely clueless and didn't reveal any flaws.

However, from being a pampered little princess to a struggling, low-level corporate slave, she still hadn't adapted.

The past month here had smoothed out all her rough edges. As a princess of the Witch Clan, she had even learned patience.

Because this place was nothing like the primordial era. In the primordial era, there was no need to buy houses.

There were free caves.

If that wasn't enough, one could build treehouses. If hungry, one could hunt, pick wild fruits, and dig for wild vegetables; they were abundant in the wild.

But to survive here, one thing was indispensable: money. Food, drink, shelter, and daily necessities all required money.

The original owner lacked money the most. She was twenty-four years old, working alone in Linhai City with a monthly salary of three thousand.

After deducting rent, utilities, food, and transportation expenses, less than five hundred remained. Even then, she had to send a thousand yuan to her family every month.

Therefore, her five credit cards were overdue, and she couldn't even pay her rent. The landlord had warned her multiple times.

She had once thought about robbing someone, but she ultimately gave up. Because she no longer possessed the robust body of the Witch Clan, nor could she use witchcraft.

She was merely a frail girl with no self-defense capabilities. Fortunately, this was a law-abiding society, and she hadn't encountered any danger.

So, for the past month, she had diligently gone to work, endured bullying from colleagues, and done the work of almost the entire department.

She had to swallow her pride when facing unfair treatment, for fear of losing her job, which would mean starving to death.

Since arriving in this world, Mingyue hadn't slept well. Because there was no Five Elements spiritual energy she was accustomed to, only pollution and smog, which made her very uncomfortable.

However, since midnight yesterday, Mingyue had felt very comfortable, as if the Five Elements spiritual energy were nourishing her body.

It was like returning to the primordial era, where she was still the Witch Clan princess, sleeping on her animal skin bed. Thus, she had a rare good night's sleep.

Mingyue, immersed in her beautiful dream, was suddenly awakened by chaotic screams and roars. She checked the time; it was not yet six o'clock.

Who would disturb her dream so early in the morning? Mingyue got out of bed, pulled open the curtains, and looked down from the window.

In the faint morning light, the residential compound had turned into a scene of carnage. A dozen vacant-eyed, stiff-moving monsters with fangs.

They let out low growls, chasing terrified, screaming normal people. Judging by their attire, they should be staff members of the compound.

No one knew what had happened to make these people transform into this state, becoming like wild beasts.

On the ground lay incomplete bodies, torn apart, with internal organs and blood splattered everywhere – the fruits of their labor.

Faced with such a bloody scene, Mingyue was not alarmed, because in the primordial era, she had seen such scenes countless times.

In the primordial era, small tribes were often attacked by wild beasts or spirits. The scene before her was commonplace.

Her phone was filled with various messages about the apocalypse. Mingyue had only been here for a month and still wasn't very adept at using it. She didn't know what the apocalypse was and simply turned it off.

She had more important things to do because she could now sense the Five Elements energy filling the air.

Drawn by the energy, Mingyue's essence blood surged, just like the first time she had transformed into human form.

It felt as if all her abilities were about to awaken. So, she sat directly on the floor and entered a state of cultivation.

When she opened her eyes, it was already the next morning. Mingyue smiled knowingly. Her physical strength had recovered by eighty percent, and all her abilities had returned.

Just then, roars came from outside the door. Something was banging against her apartment door.

Then, her left apartment door creaked, as if someone had come out. Shouts and sounds of struggle came from the hallway, indicating a confrontation with zombies.

Mingyue's neighbor to the left was a tall, thin young man around twenty years old.

In the original owner's memories, his name was Ji Shiyou, and he was a shut-in who wrote novels.

Mingyue remembered him because, on the very day she transmigrated, Ji Shiyou had given her a large bowl of braised pork ribs.

At that time, she had lost all her abilities and was filled with unknown fear in a strange world.

It was that bowl of ribs that made her feel the kindness of this world, giving her the confidence to survive when she felt lost and helpless.

"Consider it repayment for his ribs!"

Mingyue, inside the room, decided to go out and help. She opened the door and saw Ji Shiyou holding a cleaver.

He was sitting on the ground, vomiting, his whole body trembling.

Beside him lay the corpse of an elderly man, his head severed from his body. He looked like the mutated beings downstairs.

Looking at the white-haired head, Mingyue recognized him as her neighbor to the right.

That household consisted of an elderly couple. Peeking through the open door, the old woman lay in the living room with her limbs missing, clearly killed by her husband.

"Don't be afraid. The world is ending. These are zombies, not people. It doesn't count as murder. I'll protect you."

Despite retching violently, upon hearing the door open, Ji Shiyou still lifted his head and managed a smile that was more like a grimace, trying to comfort Mingyue.

So, he had come out to fight the zombies to protect her, Mingyue thought.

She was about to close the door and go back inside when she saw the dead zombies. But seeing the man's smile, she felt a pang of pity.

"Are you injured?"

The zombie had long, black fingernails. Ji Shiyou's arm had been scratched during the fight. The wound was oozing black liquid, and a foul odor wafted over.

"Ah, hurry inside and lock the door. I've been scratched, and I'll get infected.

I'll turn into a zombie and hurt you. Hurry inside."

Seeing his injury, Ji Shiyou stood up and pushed Mingyue back towards her home, his face resolute.

He intended to commit suicide soon, preferring death to becoming that disgusting, harmful creature.

However, he couldn't push Mingyue. Instead, she grabbed his clothes and directly lifted him into the room.

After closing the door securely, Mingyue threw him onto the floor. Then, with a few swift movements, she tore open his shirt.

"What, what are you doing? Have you also turned into a zombie?"
