Chapter 35 Thunder Base

"Is anyone there? One of our people is injured and needs immediate medical attention. We apologize for the intrusion!"

As soon as they materialized in the living room, everyone heard someone shouting from outside. Before anyone could respond, the courtyard gate was flung open.

Seven or eight strong men, carrying an injured person, barged in. Everyone present was clearly displeased.

With a zombie king like Ba Jiu present, no zombies or mutated animals dared to approach this two-story villa.

It was extremely safe here. These people had chosen their location well, but their uninvited entry was unwelcome.

Gong Que, impulsive as ever, was about to lash out and throw them out, but Ming Yue stopped him.

She saw that the injured person was severely wounded. In the apocalypse, such individuals were liabilities, dragging everyone down.

The men carrying him were also injured, some bleeding profusely, clearly having survived a fierce battle.

Even so, they hadn't abandoned their comrade, carrying him to safety. These people's nature was likely not bad.

"Apologies, we are from Thunder Base. My name is Wo Yu Cheng. Our leader is too severely injured.

We urgently needed a place to treat his wounds, so we entered without invitation. Please forgive us!"

Seeing the hostile glares from the people in the room, a man in his twenties from the group stepped forward, apologizing to Ming Yue and her companions and introducing himself.

Wo Yu Cheng's words were sincere. Although the wound on his arm was still bleeding, he wore a smile as he spoke.

Looking at the injured person on the ground, his condition was indeed grave, and everyone's resentment subsided.

"There's an empty room on the right. You can rest there. However, do not come out unless necessary. We can only accommodate you for one night. You must leave tomorrow."

Despite Wo Yu Cheng's pitiable plea, Ming Yue only agreed to let them stay for one night, imposing many restrictions.

Living in the apocalypse, they were unfamiliar with these people. Although Wo Yu Cheng's story was touching,

Ming Yue was not someone who would easily believe others. Sometimes, kindness could lead to disaster.

"You're being too overbearing. Looking at you all, you don't seem like a family, and this house can't possibly be yours.

Why should we listen to you? We'll stay as long as we want. People from our Thunder Base have never been treated this way."

A bald, burly man heard Ming Yue's words and immediately jumped out, shouting belligerently. His attitude was extremely arrogant, and he seemed on the verge of resorting to violence.

Gong Que couldn't tolerate this. The two of them stepped forward, ready to teach the bald man a lesson.

"Baldy, don't be disrespectful. My apologies, Gao Chu's discipline is lacking, making you laugh. Thank you for your hospitality; we will leave tomorrow."

Just as the two sides were about to clash, the injured man on the ground woke up. He spoke weakly, calling the bald man back and apologizing to Ming Yue.

"Boss, you're awake! How are you?"

Seeing the man they called Gao Chu wake up on the ground, the men who carried him in immediately surrounded him, inquiring about his condition.

"I'm fine. Carry me to the room."

Gao Chu was severely wounded, half his body a bloody mess, but he still managed a faint smile to comfort his brothers.

They obeyed him, including the hot-tempered bald man, and carefully carried him into the room Ming Yue had indicated.

"I'm sorry. Baldy has a short temper, and he's even more upset because our boss is injured.

Please don't mind what he said earlier. We'll be leaving tomorrow."

Wo Yu Cheng stayed behind until last, sincerely apologizing to Ming Yue and her group.

"Here, take this to treat your wounds. If you keep bleeding like this, you'll attract zombies and mutated animals.

Also, give this to your boss to take. It will help his injuries."

Ming Yue produced bandages, gauze, and some hemostatic medicine, handing them to Wo Yu Cheng.

She also gave him a small porcelain bottle containing a drop of Water of Life.

"Thank you."

In the apocalypse, medicine was more precious than gold. Seeing that Ming Yue's offering included anti-inflammatories, hemostatics, and fever reducers,

Wo Yu Cheng was genuinely grateful, treating it like a treasure. He overlooked the Water of Life.

Wo Yu Cheng returned to the room, placed Ming Yue's gifts on the table, and explained the situation to Gao Chu.

"What is this in the bottle? There's no label. We can't give it to the boss to take. Who knows what their intentions are? We have to be cautious."

The bald man harbored no good feelings towards Ming Yue's group. Upon learning the origin of the medicine, his face was filled with wariness.

"In the apocalypse, medicine is comparable to gold. We shouldn't waste their kindness. Yu Cheng, help me apply the medicine and dress the wound."

Gao Chu lay on the bed, already feeling his wound worsening, his head heavy, showing signs of falling unconscious again.

He knew that if he lost consciousness again, he might not wake up.

So, even if the medicine had been tampered with, he wanted to try it, as the outcome couldn't get any worse.

However, he still wanted to examine it himself. He casually picked up the bottle containing the Water of Life, opened the cap, and brought it to his nose.

A cool sensation emanated from the bottle, entering Gao Chu's nostrils.

His mind instantly cleared, the grogginess vanished, and even the pain from his wound lessened considerably.

"This is... Water of Life?"

Before the apocalypse, Gao Chu was a master's student in biology, assisting his supervisor in his research.

His supervisor's research topic was the Water of Life, but the entire institute only had one drop. He had the fortune to see it and knew its effects.

He never expected that the people in this villa would casually give such a precious item as the Water of Life to strangers.

His heart was filled with elation. If it weren't for fear of being discovered, he would have shouted with joy.

Without hesitation, he poured the Water of Life from the bottle into his mouth and had Wo Yu Cheng re-dress and bandage his wound.

Gao Chu calmed his mind, mobilized his body's special ability, and entered a state of cultivation.

The Water of Life was too precious to be wasted. He intended to maximize its efficacy.

After a night of cultivation, Gao Chu's injuries had completely healed. Furthermore, his lightning elemental ability had advanced from level four directly to level five.

"Good morning, everyone. Thank you for your hospitality and the medicine. Gao Chu of Thunder Base expresses his gratitude."

Upon waking up in the morning, Gao Chu, his injuries healed, emerged from his room and saw Ming Yue and the others having breakfast.

He walked to the dining area and thanked them. However, when his eyes fell upon the food on the table, he was once again astonished.

He saw vegetables and fruits. It had been some time since the apocalypse began.

The environment had deteriorated, and all plants had gone extinct. Vegetables and fruits were luxuries.

Yet, the vegetables on the table were verdant, and the fruits were fresh, as if just picked. They were definitely not stored items. Gao Chu's mind stirred.

"You're welcome. We agreed yesterday that you would only stay for one night. Now that your injuries have recovered, please leave as soon as possible!"

Seeing Gao Chu staring at the food on the table, Ji Shiyou stood up, blocking his view, and unceremoniously asked him to leave.

"I have a request. May I ask if you can grant it?"

Ji Shiyou's dismissal order was ineffective. Gao Chu actually began to make a request, much to the surprise of the people at the dining table.
