Zhan Mohan certainly did not expect that the person who provided them with Ji Qun's information would be Min Mo. He had already felt that this person's background was not simple, and before he could investigate, he appeared again.
Inviting Min Mo into his office, he sized up the man in front of him and asked Fang Xun to prepare a cup of coffee. "Mr. Min, it's been over twenty days since we last met in Country Y. I didn't expect you to be the one providing me with this information today. Then, we should be honest with each other, shouldn't we?"
Min Mo simply chuckled at his words and took a sip of the coffee on the table. "Mr. Zhan's coffee is indeed very fragrant."
Seeing that he was evading the question, Zhan Mohan pushed the documents in his hand forward. "Since Mr. Min is not going to be forthcoming, I dare not trust this information. Fang Xun, go and destroy it all."
He recalled that when they investigated the Ji family last time, Ji Qun was not among those being investigated. Yet today, Min Mo brought such information. It was clear he had intentions of cooperation, but Zhan Mohan would not cooperate with someone he couldn't be honest with.
Especially since the current operation to bring down the Ji family was of great importance. If they were to cooperate, it had to be with someone trustworthy. And although Min Mo had saved them, he was not in that category.
As Fang Xun was picking up the files to shred them, Min Mo stopped him and took the documents back from his hand, placing them on Zhan Mohan's desk himself.
"Why is Mr. Zhan in such a hurry? Have you not investigated me since returning to the country?"
Zhan Mohan was direct. "I'm talking about your hidden identity."
According to their investigation, Min Mo was just an ordinary overseas Chinese with good financial standing and no criminal record. However, if his identity was merely that, he wouldn't have been able to ascertain their identities in just two days after saving them, nor would he have proactively revealed that he had previously investigated them.
Since he implied he had the ability to investigate, it meant he had no intention of hiding his true identity. Zhan Mohan could therefore directly ask the question.
Min Mo once again avoided the question. "It seems Mr. Zhan is very eager to get rid of the Ji family."
Zhan Mohan did not beat around the bush. "Since Mr. Min can see that, you should know that my time is precious and I'm not willing to waste it haggling with you here. State your terms directly, and let's have an honest discussion."
Seeing that he was determined to eradicate the Ji family, Min Mo no longer played coy.
"Since Mr. Zhan has put it this way, let me give you a heads-up. You can rest assured about Ji Qun's information; it's absolutely true, because he is my father."
His words stunned both Zhan Mohan and Fang Xun. They had always thought Ji Qun only had one son, Ji Tong. After all, the Ji family controlled seventy percent of Country Y's underworld, and having another family member would have made things even smoother. If there truly was another son, he shouldn't have been kept in the dark.
However, there was also a possibility that this son was not acknowledged by the Ji family, and therefore would not have been entrusted with the Ji family's assets.
Just as they had speculated, Min Mo was indeed an unacknowledged child of the Ji family, which was why he didn't have the surname Ji but Min, his mother's surname.
According to him, Ji Qun was reckless in his youth. Even though his family was very poor, he still liked to get involved with women everywhere. His mother accidentally became pregnant with him. At the time, she didn't have money for an abortion and went to find Ji Qun, but he shrunk back and refused to acknowledge their relationship.
Min Mo's mother, in a fit of anger, refused to have an abortion and gave birth to him. However, life as a single mother became worse year by year, and his mother fell seriously ill due to persistent worry.
From the time he could remember, he attended school while taking care of his sick mother. But his mother passed away when he was eight years old.
Before his mother died, she took him to the Ji family again, pleading with them to acknowledge him as their son, given he was a boy, so that he wouldn't be left to wander the streets after her death.
However, Ji Qun, though outwardly stern, was very weak. Even after a paternity test proved the relationship, he still dared not raise the child in the Ji family.
Moreover, the Ji family back then was just an ordinary family, not as wealthy as they were now after making a fortune. Raising another child would have been a burden. Therefore, Min Mo and his seriously ill mother were once again driven out.
Shortly thereafter, Min Mo's mother passed away, and he was sent to a local orphanage, where he completed his studies with the help of various aid.
Fortunately, he was ambitious and consistently ranked at the top of his class, earning him the qualification to be an exchange student abroad. From then on, his life began to take off.
However, being rejected by his biological father in his childhood had always been a shadow over him. Even though he was a magnanimous person, the Ji family was an exception. The driving force behind his diligent studies from a young age was not only to achieve success but also to have Ji Qun confess his sins to his mother one day.
Moreover, his mother's condition worsened and she died only after they were driven out by the Ji family. It was not unreasonable for him to hold the Ji family accountable. Since he had achieved success in his career, he had been investigating the Ji family.
Upon learning that the current Ji family was no longer what it used to be, he knew that he could not contend with them alone. Therefore, he had been searching for a suitable partner.
He had been monitoring the Ji family's every move. When he learned that the explosion had not killed Zhan Mohan and the others, he immediately contacted the best local hospital to rescue them, with the intention of using the Zhan family's influence to help him bring down the Ji family.
In this regard, they were at least of the same mind.
After listening to his story, Zhan Mohan believed the information he brought. He took back the documents he had pushed away and reminded Min Mo.
"Mr. Min, you are likely more aware than I am of the Ji family's current businesses. We will uproot the Ji family, and we will not spare anyone, including your father."
Min Mo nodded. "I am aware of that. I only have one request. After everything is settled, I want to take him to my mother's grave and have him repent in front of her. After that, I don't care how he is dealt with."
Although he carried Ji Qun's blood, this man had never fulfilled his duty as a father. Their father-son relationship was as thin as water. Even if Ji Qun was imprisoned for the illicit businesses they were involved in, Min Mo, as the mastermind, would not be lenient.
It was no different from the heartless way the Ji family had driven him and his mother out in the past.
