Chapter 174: Beauty Is a Sin
Halle stayed at the confinement center and nursed her health. Margaret and Hilla also lived here together.
Orlenna made some time to send fish soup to Halle. "I heard that fish soup is the best food to produce milk. I specially caught two fish from Anna." Orlenna smiled and said.
Speaking of Anna, Hilla couldn’t help but remember that Orlenna told her the benefits of having a child early.
"Mother, can fish soup really help produce milk? Emily doesn’t like milk powder."
"One who has drunk his mother’s milk dislikes milk powder. This little baby is really cute."
When Orlenna saw Emily, she also loved this little baby. If her son and daughter tried hard, she could carry many children now.
However, there was nothing.
After several days, Emily’s jaundice gradually faded away. She ate much, and they could see that Emily was bigger half a month later.
Hilla loved Emily so much now, and she thought Emily looked better than Bruce. "Mother, Emily still smiles when she sleeps. She’s so cute."
Orlenna glanced at Emily and was happy. She said, "This child is so pretty. It can be seen that his parents have good genes."
Halle felt nervous. Every time she heard someone mention Emily’s father, she would be nervous for nothing.
From the hospital to the confinement center, she had this feeling all the time.
Hilla, however, didn’t care. She smiled and said, "My sister is very pretty, and Emily has such a beautiful aunt."
"If Bruce and I have a daughter, she must be so cute and beautiful, too."
Orlenna did not expect that Hilla could take the initiative to mention having a child.
She was immediately happy and excited.
However, she was still extremely calm and said, "You and Bruce are not bad. Your children must be beautiful."
After saying that, Orlenna looked at Halle who was eating, and smiled, "Hilla tries her best to look after you these days. I heard that she even moves here, right?"
Halle smiled and said, "She stays here and doesn’t want to leave, but I drive her away today. She and Margaret are too loud in the room, and Emily is always woken by their noise at night."
Hearing this, Hilla was unwilling and said, "Why don’t you drive Margaret away? She
has more problems than me."
"Neither of you are allowed to stay here and disturb my rest. The babysitter’s room is too hot. She will not be able to take care of Emily if she is sick. I plan to let her move to your room. You just come over in the morning."
Halle openly drove Hilla away, and Orlenna smiled and did not speak again.
Halle was so smart that she could understand Orlenna’s idea immediately.
Hilla lived here, so Bruce had to live alone. If they lived in two separate places all the time, it was difficult for Orlenna to have a grandson.
Hilla curled her lips. Margaret rolled her eyes, and she knew that she was just an innocent person who was involved.
...
Hilla returned to Lakeshore Center in the evening. The lights were still dark when she entered the room.
The maid was not here, and Bruce was not back.
Hilla was a little disappointed and thought that Bruce would miss her after a few days.
She turned on the lights in the living room, and it was quiet all around. There was no familiar and lively atmosphere.
Hilla thought that Bruce must felt lonely when he returned every day. Now she could have the same feeling.
In order to take care of Halle, Hilla didn’t come back. She felt that she had really neglected Bruce for too long.
Bruce had not returned, so Hilla had to go upstairs and change her clothes.
She opened the door. Just like the living room downstairs, it was very black, and she couldn’t see anything.
Hilla subconsciously turned on the light, but suddenly she was pulled into the room.
Bruce closed the door.
The door closed, and the lights were turned on. Hilla was pressed against the door by Bruce, and she subconsciously narrowed her eyes because of the bright light.
A familiar low laugh came. "Are you finally willing to come back?" Bruce said.
Bruce’s voice was slightly husky. Hilla leaned against his chest, and she immediately found the strange smell on his body.
"Did you drink?"
"Yes, I drank a little!"
Hilla frowned and tightened his shirt. She murmured, "I catch a whiff of the perfume
you wear."
Women seemed to be naturally sensitive to this. Bruce had obviously not had the time to take a shower when he returned and this was found by Hilla just right.
Sure enough, men tended to fool around when their wives didn’t stay with them, so it was necessary to keep an eye on men.
Bruce chuckled, his lips moving back and forth with Hilla’s hair. He said, "There were both men and women at the party, but I didn’t bring a female companion or let other women approach me."
"Why can I smell the perfume?"
Hilla wondered, "Do you think I’m stupid?
Bruce thought for a moment and suddenly remembered that Riya sprayed perfume in front of him at that time. He wondered that it might be her perfume.
Bruce thought that he could not explain it yet because Hilla might quarrel with him for this.
"I’ll go to take a shower now."
After saying that, Bruce walked towards the bathroom. He took two steps and then turned back and hugged Hilla. He kissed her heavily and said, "I miss you."
Hilla stayed with Halle for more than ten days. From the hospital to the confinement center, she did not leave. During this period, Bruce went. Since there were people present, Bruce did not even have the chance to hug her.
Hearing Bruce say this, Hilla couldn’t help but blush. She lowered her head and said softly, "I miss you too."
Ever since Halle had arrived, their lives seemed to be all about Halle, and they couldn’t stay with each other until Hilla had the time.
Bruce looked at Hilla who blushed. He thought that she came back finally and they could have a romance.
"Remember what you promised. Wait for me!"
He turned around to enter the bathroom happily after saying.
Hilla wondered what she had promised.
Hilla was stunned. Looking at Bruce’s back, she finally remembered she had promised to have a child!
Sitting by the bed, Hilla clutched the corner of her clothes, her face blushed. She smiled unconsciously.
Ever since she met Emily, she felt that children were angels in this world. They were so cute and lived so carefree.
Hilla thought that she and Bruce’s child should also be like this!
She smiled and then took out a red lace nightdress from the wardrobe.
When Bruce came out of the bathroom, he saw that Hilla was in a red dress.
Hilla lay down on the off-white bed. She closed the curtains, and it was dim in the room.
Bruce stood at the door and was fascinated by Hilla. He held the towel tightly. He stared at Hilla and said, "Is this necessary?"
Hilla lowered her head in embarrassment. "Mother said we should try hard." Bruce thought that he would also try hard too!
...
"You seem to be very happy recently."
Halle saw that Hilla was joyful every time she came. Halle asked, "Has Bruce been treating you well recently?"
"I am happy because of Emily. Emily."
Hilla held Emily in her arms and walked happily into the room. Halle said, "You will spoil her. She will always want to be held in arms if she is used to it."
"Then I will do so every day. Maybe I can have my own baby one day."
Hilla looked at Emily who had woken up. Hilla kissed her happily.
Halle said, "Do you want to have a baby?"
"Of course, we have been trying hard these days. I don’t know if it will work."
Hilla put Emily on the baby bed and touched her own belly.
In the past, she was afraid of being a mother. She always felt that it was very far away for her. But now she became concerned when she thought of having a baby.
It seemed that pregnancy was not as easy as she thought. "You are young. It is easy for you." Halle chuckled and fed Emily.
Hilla looked at her and asked with a frown, "Halle, why do you feed her breast milk? I heard that it will cause mastoptosis."
Hilla said in a low voice as she looked around and noticed that no one was paying attention to them.
Hilla would still care about her appearance after giving birth. After all, she was only in her twenties.
Halle said, "So what? I only wish that Emily is healthy. I don’t need to coax other people. Unlike you, you have Bruce."
She smiled with embarrassment after she said that. She didn’t want to get married again. So she didn’t care about her appearance at all.
She only wanted to live a peaceful life with Emily.
"What are you talking about? Who wants to coax Bruce? I’m doing this for myself. What’s wrong for me to care about my appearance after having a baby?"
"To me, being beautiful might be a sin."
Halle chuckled with self- mockery. A beautiful single woman with a daughter may face more dangers than an ordinary single woman with a daughter.
She just wanted to live a peaceful life.
"Halle, your sin comes."
As Halle finished speaking in a low voice, Hilla whispered in her ear with a low laugh.
Halle looked up and saw Horton come in. They looked at each other and Halle dodged his gaze with guilty.
"You’re here to be free labor again."
Hilla approached Horton with a teasing smile. Horton said awkwardly, "I come to see Emily."
"You seem to like Emily very much. Do you want to be her godfather?"
Hilla said with a laugh. The next second, she heard Halle’s stern voice coming from behind her.
"Hilla, what are you speaking?"
Halle was more emotional than they expected. Hilla was stunned that Halle was angry with this joke.
Halle seemed to have sensed that she was a little emotional. Her voice was a little loud and even attracted the attention of other people in the room.
She tried to calm down and said in a low voice, "Dr. Hutt doesn’t have a girlfriend yet. It’s not proper to ask him to be Emily’s godfather."
Hilla blinked and didn’t speak. Was this the real reason? Horton smiled gently. "No problem. I like Emily very much."
"If you like children, it’s better to get married. You will be happier to have your own baby."
Horton didn’t know how to respond.
If he wanted to get married and have a child, he wouldn’t have been there now.
"I should have a look at Emily to check her jaundice."
Horton said softly and walked to the small room. Halle sat on the sofa feebly with her mouth open.
Hilla looked at Horton’s back. Then she looked at Halle and sat down with a frown. "Halle, do you have something that I don’t know?"
She had thought that Horton loved Halle but Halle didn’t love him. But since Halle gave birth to Emily, Halle’s attitude towards Horton had been strange.
Others may felt that Halle didn’t like Horton.
But they were sisters. Halle was gentle and she would be nice to all people, including bad guys like Titus.
It was obvious that Halle’s attitude towards Horton was different.
Halle glanced at Hilla and said, "What can I hide from you? There’s nothing."
Hilla was not a fool and could tell that Halle lied to her. Hilla wanted to know the truth. She took a deep breath and asked her.
"Emily and Horton, what is their relationship?"
Hilla looked at Halle and then asked in surprise, "Emily’s father is Horton! Why don’t you tell me earlier?"
Then it made sense that Horton and Halle had been strange recently.
Hilla had never thought of this. Halle and Horton had no interaction before. When they first met in the Anderson’s, Hilla didn’t see anything wrong with Halle when she met Horton.
When did it happen? Last year, Halle divorced after Hilla got married. Halle and Horton...
Hilla was stunned. In the nine months when Halle was pregnant, Halle had gone back and forth between the countryside and River City several times. Halle could meet Horton almost every time she came to River City.
Halle and Horton said nothing to others. If Halle were not emotional these days, Hilla would never know this. She had never thought that the ’bastard’ was Horton, who made Halle suffer great pain.
For a moment, Hilla was very angry with Horton.
Halle was shocked that Hilla revealed the truth. She put her hand to her forehead with a sign.
"I’m sorry, Hilla. I wanted to tell you, but I don’t know how to say it. It was an accident to have Emily. But you should know that Emily is very important to me."
"At first, I didn’t know his identity and his relationship with the Andersons. I thought we would never meet again until you took me to the Anderson’s."
Halle was a little confused as she recalled the scene of meeting Horton in the Anderson’s. She was very shocked at that time.
What’s more, Horton was a private family doctor of the Andersons and he had a close relationship with them. Besides his own excellence, he also had a prominent family.
As a divorced woman who needed to live temporarily in her sister’s home, she had to keep her distance from a man like Horton!
